Greene considering transfer options

Former Georgia Tech wide receiver Jeff Greene will stay at Tech for the spring semester and transfer at the end of the school year, according to Greene’s high school coach. Cincinnati and Arkansas are possible destinations for Greene, Starr’s Mill High coach Chad Phillips said.

Greene left the team following the ACC Championship game. He led the team in receptions and receiving yards at the time with 18 and 284, respectively.

If he were to transfer to another FBS school like Arkansas or Cincinnati, Greene would have to sit out one year and then would have two more years of eligibility starting with the 2014 season.

Best of luck, Jeff Greene. Regret is a thing all of us want to avoid in life. We all end up being affected by our choices. Choose wisely whichever way you go. Also know that Tech will throw more over the next three or four years. But you may be transferring because of academics rather than football. Regardless, best wishes.

Look for Tech to become more balanced going forward. The better we can pass, the more we will pass. The more we pass, the better we will recruit receivers, improving our passing ability further. The better we can pass, the better our running game will become. The better we can run, the better the running backs we will recruit. The better we run and pass, the better the QBs and OL we will recruit. The better we recruit for offense, the better we will recruit on defense. The better we play overall, the better we will recruit overall. The process takes years to develop…

hope you are right, TC-& about time……….at least some of our WRs will have played to start the next season……….QB moves back from the TO=SO….next question, why not drop back during the count, rather than just lining up that way………

Would somebody mention to Carvell, UGA’s recruiting publicist at the AJC, that Rivals.com has reported an OL transfer from Maryland to Tech, Atlantan Nick Bingham?

TC what a dip wad, could you have been any more trivial, trite, and meaningless? The more you type inane things the more inane you sound. The more inane you sound the more inane and inept you are. The more obvious the more obvious. Sheesh.

Good luck finding your next school, and I hope it works out better there.

Know some folks close to his high school. Attitude problem. We knew it going in. This kid needs to get his act together. Maybe he will elsewhere. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Ken reported Chad Phillips’s comments last month that the Tech coaches bent over backwards trying to make it work, but this was on Jeff. Glad to see him stay in school this semester and focus on his classwork.

@Jacket Man

Well said. No 19 or 20 y.o kid needs a bunch of us Monday morning QBs assaulting his character. CPJ wears people out (his players and coaches). Some folks will find better situations elsewhere.

BTW – the same can be said for Nick Saban. But you’ll notice that folks are much more willing to put up with his demands :-)

what concerns me about Ted Roof is that he was another fired head coach(Duke) like Groh. Not too impressed about Auburn being that they got their players by either paying them 180,000 or committing transcript fraud to get them in.

Wish CPJ would still grab Giff for recruiting coordinator.

People, look at Roof’s Defensive stats over his entire DC career – solid numbers across the board, except for the year after Auburn’s NC. Yes, he was a poor HC at Duke, but the defenses still did well. I think he’s a great hire.

Roof definitely not my choice or even in the back of my mind. But reading through his resume since leaving Tech last, the numbers look good. I sure hope he’s the right man. He should be a decent recruiter too.

@ GT Jacketman….according to those stats, Roof changed things up on various defenses IMMEDIATELY. That’s definitely what we need IF he can do it.

He was coaching linebackers when our linebackers were going to NFL some still playing was on defensive staff with olearys teams that was a pretty good defense we had. He ranked second this treaty in sitting defense for big ten. #1 on sacks looks good to me

Ted Roof growled at me once in class.

For those of you who never met the man you do not know how intense he is and how passionate he is about hard hitting defenses.

I think this is a good hire. Bring back a Tech man any day.

CPJ did a good day’s work by getting Roof back. He can get it done, if your players are willing to put out what it takes. Jeff is staying for the freee room and board. He could care less about the academics. Just another energy vampire. You are better off. See you guys next November, and I expect my Dawgs to ruin you undefeated 2013 season say 52-50.

Good luck Greene! I wish you only the best!

I hope DC Ted Roof does well at Georgia Tech! I recall in 1999 Joe Hamilton was one of the best qb/passing efficency in college football and could score on ANY TEAM! There was only one small problem! Every team could SCORE on us too! Our defense had good players but was lacking. I pray that doesn’t repeat itself at Georgia Tech!

Occasional passes can be a part of this offense, but since long yardage on second and third down is such a problem, incompletions and sacks are drive killers, and cut blocks don’t work well for pass protection..

Some of us in the Fayette area were shocked when GT signed Greene. Not really Tech material to begin with, on several levels. End result not surprising. Not sure Tuberville would want him.
