Awesome win guys! I don’t know if USC is the most hated team in America but I do know that they have the most hated coach in LK. I question why LK didn’t have his players ready to play – or why they showed such distaste for the Sun Bowl and Tech. I know they were disapointed in their season – but so were we. A lot more disapointments are coming their way before the NCAA sanctions are finally completed. They had better get used to a lot more loses.

USC AD Pat Hayden should torch Kiffin for insulting the Sun Bowl organizers by not allowing his team to attend the dinner with Tech. It’s understandable that his team did not want to be in the Sun bowl because USC dosen’t play well enough to be in any bowl. It was an insult to Tech to have to play such a poor team.

Congrats to the Jackets AND to you Ken. You, in my opinion, are given the most work of any AJC beat writer and given the least help. Its sad that the AJC cannot send but one reporter to cover a hometown team in a bowl game. No reflection on you Ken. You do a great job.

Great to see the guys having such a good time after the game and nice for the seniors to go out with a win over USC. This should provide some excellent momentum for spring ball. Not sure we win the game without the wind and the UCLA dude crushing Barkley’s shoulder, but hey we’ll take it and build on it.

Kelly sure made CPJ’s decision regarding the DC position a tough one didn’t he?

God, SC must be horrible. I would not be surprised to see Hayden sack Kiffen before week’s done. Of course, I don’t know what kind of financial ramifications might exist, so such a move could be problematic. I DO realize SC didn’t want to be there. I mean who REALLY would?? But, I suppose it’s part of the payback the players have to accept.

Otherwise, the Jackets DID answer the call, and tha’t’s impressive. Perhaps they can build on this success. No reason not to.

We caused two fumbles and recovered one, but neither one was called a fumble by the biased refs. However, the personal fouls during SC’s last drive were on purpose and personal. Our boys hated those twerps.

Well, at least Vanderbilt held up for the SEC. LSU has more injuries when they are getting their butts kicked than any team I’ve ever seen. Same thing against UF this year when the Gators started kicking their butts. As for Tech vs. USC (Spurrier now has THE USC officially), Tech really showed some pride. USC QB helped by playing an absolutely horrible game, but give us a little credit on D for that. Kelly really did make PJ’s decision kind of tough. UGA runs all over Kelly’s Kids and then FSU and USC don’t. Interesting winter on the flats.

5150 – please. SEC got beat by ACC? It’s LSU’s first loss to the ACC in 20 games lol. And, if you are a true GT fan – you HATE Clemson . . .and the asinine Dago Swinney. But PS – nice win for GT and let’s hope we can build on this. But, in order to ever matter, we MUST play 60 minutes of solid football – every game. Not just 45 or 50 minutes.

Greetings Ken. Happy New Year! As a lifetime state resident I follow both UGA and Tech. Only root against Yellow Jackets once per season. Have only been prouder of state college football teams on two other occasions. Both involved national championships! I have been highly critical of Tech all season but could not be prouder than I am right now. They faced their Alabama the same way another squad did but the Rambling Wreck finished the deal. As a career hater of Southern Cal this one was especially sweet! The final score read 21-7 but the outcome was never ever that close. Than you Georgia Tech for a memorable football achievement this appreciative fan will always cherish. For this moment I am far prouder of Tech than of those chokers in Athens! Enjoy the New Year.

I guess Kelly won the defensive coordinator job yesterday and thats okay. PJ must realize that he has to get this right. He was given one strike when he picked Groh. If it’s Kelly I will be happy. He seems like a guy who took this opportunity very seriously.
When you look at some of Tech’s defensive players, ( Sweeting, Hunt-Days, Cross, Uzzi, Attachoa)
you see definite talent. Its amazing they have not accomplished more.

Wow was the D popping some leather. The hardest hitting they’ve done all year. Kelly for D cord. He’s done a really good jod since Groth left. Jabari Hunt Days is a beast. How many of our line backers will be back. Neally, Watts, and Days were all over the field. And who was that Conner kid on special teams. He made plays all day on special teams. Great win for Tech. Vad Lee looks special. Long pass to Bostic was there but Bostic slowed down a step when he should of kept running. Can’t wait for next year. Isn’t it amazing how a win like this can make fans so much more optimistic and eager for next season to start. Oh and before I forget, Ken Whisenhunt for Athletic Director. One can only wish. Great win, congrats to all the players and coaches. GOOOOO TECH.

The Yellow Jackets may not have a saint roaming sidelines but the team certainly appeared saintly against those overrated and overhyped losers from the West Coast! Tech displayed heart, grit plus an unwillingness to lose. That speaks volumes of both the players and coaches! That is sadly lacking in Athens. Especially from coaching aspect! Enjoy this one. I know I am!

As a diehard Dawg fan I can honestly say that a victory over despised Southern Cal is worth more than a dozen wins over the Nebraskas of the world! Most Dawg fans prefer moral wins anyway. Congratulations on getting off the bowl victory snide Techsters. In style too! :)

Please forgive my multiple posts Tech followers. It is just an honor to be able to discuss a REAL victory instead of a MORAL one! I am targeted as a Tech fan by Bulldog Nation for not gushing over a moral victory which any true fan knows is a defeat wrapped in fancy red and black paper. Am I a Tech fan? Right now more so than UGA one! GO WRECK.

So, let me see, Notre Dame played USC at the end of the season and only beat them 22-13. Tech played USC and beat them 21-7. So now the question becomes “is Tech as good as Notre Dame or is Notre Dame as bad as Tech”?

As an alum from a few years back (’74), Tech students learn to never give up in the classroom or on the field. The Jackets showed us they didn’t and I cannot have been prouder. Well done coaches and players and hope this is the start of a promising 2013 season for GT. Good luck to all the seniors!

A much needed win to get the Bowl loss monkey off our back. Some interesting coaching decisions ahead—keep Kelly at DC…or make him asst coach and bring in a DC—find a great recruiting coach and put him at assist coach or DC and move Kelly to the other spot….I think the greatest need is a coach who can recruit good talent….then give him the position that he wants and promote Kelly to either assist coach or DC.

Next year has promise—good home schedule, hope Vad Lee improves his skills..could be a more open offense (read more passing) and if our D learns to play with the intensity it has shown in the last 6 QTRS, we will become relevant in football again. Tech held USC to 3 of 15 on 3rd down—20% rate. That kind of stat will win a lot of ballgames.

And, just confirming to be the jerk that he is, Kiffin will not say USC was beaten. (He claims untimely inefficiency in moving the ball cost them scores…. we can’t he just admit the GT defense stopped them.)

Thank you to Tevin Washington. Now that eligibility is exhausted, you can leave the program with head high, and pride in doing a very, very, very fine job. You represented your team and your school with high standards.

GSU1999….I second what you said about Tevin. He has played his butt off & come short enough to get discouraged. But he was back out there in the next game. He might not be the best QB ever, but he surely has no reason to hang his head. I was in El Paso & think CPJ played the QB’s to their best abilities. When it was short yardage near the goal line, Tevin was the most sure handed & played. Vad will continue to grow and learn and by next fall, I predict he will be hard to stop, if Thomas doesn’t beat him out. The competition will be good for them & GT. Anyway, Tevin leaves Tech football behind with pride & knowing he gave his best. He said he wants a shot at the NFL. I doubt he will make it as a QB, but somebody should find a spot for such a dedicated young man at some position. Best of luck to him. He will be a success in life and a wonderful representative of GT.

Forget overall records! I am far more impressed with the Yellow Jacket finish against USC than the Dawg yawner over Nebraska. Well done! I am one who does not subscribe to the lunacy that the LOSS to Bama should be bronzed then put in a trophy case in Athens! To me a loss is a loss is a loss. Period!
