USC stands up Tech at Sun Bowl dinner
USC stood up Georgia Tech for a Sun Bowl dinner Wednesday night, reportedly showing up more than 90 minutes late for a function. By the time the Trojans party arrived, Tech had already left to return to its team hotel.
A later-than-scheduled practice was partly to blame, according to an online report from the L.A. Daily News.
It is another faux pas for USC in its relations with the host city of El Paso, Texas. Shortly after the team was chosen to play in the Sun, a Trojans linebacker sent out a Twitter message critical of El Paso. Another USC football player sent out a tweet Wednesday describing El Paso as an “(expletive) city.”

Biloxi, are we pretending Georgia didn’t lose to a B1G team last year? Let’s keep things honest here. I wish both Georgia and Georgia Tech the best of luck and hope they both, and their fans, keep things classy. And I would love to see Georgia Tech join the B1G. Our fans would love to come to warm and welcoming city like Atlanta. The Tech fans I know don’t like the idea of the move, but I think it’d be great for the program in the long run. Anyway, here’s hoping Tech takes care of USC!

what do you think Pat Haden, former star QB for USC who is a Rhodes Scholar, very successful LA atty and who is NOW the AD at USC thinks about LK considering he didnt hire him??!! Pat Haden is a man of great integrity, a class act, a real gentleman, who will not tolerate this kind of representation of HIS university. It’s no coincidence that LK has been relatively quiet this season. I’m sure Pat Haden has told him to keep his mouth shut and just coach. My sense is LK’s days at USC are numbered!!! Daddy Kiffen, the defensive cordinator has already announced his departure from USC coaches ranks. Do you think that was coincidental??

Yes, Biloxi Dawg, it was 42-10 but it really wasn’t that close, since 7 of those points came after our third string was in against their first string.
However, I have to pull for the gnats against Lame Kiffen. He is reigning champ of classlessness in all of NCAA football. And frankly, I think it is time for CPJ and the buzzy-boys to FINALLY win a bowl game. I would not bet any money on it, but IT IS WAY PAST TIME.
No matter how this turns out I want to see the “little trade school in the hood” KEEP CPJ as their head coach for as long as possible. LOL LOL LOL

The picture on Twitter is a hoax. Tech students did not flatten the USC bus tires. Actually, some Tech engineering students accessed the GPS satellites and manipulated them so as to provide incorrect directions to the GPS unit on the USC bus, thus steering the bus to Juarez Mexico where the USC players were detained for nearly an hour before being allowed back into the United States.

Once again Lane Kiffin shows what a disrespectful human being he is. He allowed his team to disrespect the city and bowl, now he has disrespected Tech. If they felt like they should have gotten a better bowl and opponent they should have won more games, they came into the season rated #1 and barely ended up bowl eligible, so either his players quit or he is a terrible coach. But thats besides the point here, he disrespected the entire bowl process. No one enjoys making fun of Ga Tech anymore than I do, but this was just a scumball act, or maybe it goes a long way in explaining USC’s 7-5 record this year, head coach is just an idiot.

Seems much ado about nothing. If anyone was slighted it was probably the bowl sponsors. Sounds like Tech was on time, ate then left. Then USC showed up and ate then left.

If they already mentioned late practice its obvious they weren’t to interested. I just wasn’t to punch it in for tds all day. Our last two games I think were tougher than USCs last two and they played Notre Dame. UGA and FSU were tough opponents. I like our chances. Its not like they are a one or two loss team. They deserve the pairing same as we do like it or not Kiffin…

I am a Tech grad of ‘73. From what I’ve heard of Kiffin, it sounds like he is a carbon copy of CPJ. Tech has to put up with CPJ kicking off at first instead of receiving, with the pass plays from LOS snaps which often result in DLs tackling the qb at the LOS, and with running triple options to the sidelines as opposed to the goal line as if he wants the bench warmed up in a hurry. Also CPJ runs plays to the side of the field that is so narrow that a tight rope has to be walked on, as in the FSU Flying Circus, ok for FSU football. I belive USC did not show for the dinner because Tech did not show for flu shots during pink powder puff football breast cancer medical awareness month. This is another example of how we have to put up with CPJ’s arrogance. I believe that Barkley will enter the game as a surprise qb starter to save the game for USC, even though he is expected to not start. Notre Dame pulled this trick off against Tech when my dad was at Tech up until graduation in ‘51, with their coach faking a heart attack, motivating ND to play harder, but it was a fake. I believe the story went that the ND coach came back out onto Grant Field in the second half.

Grow up gents. Doesn’t matter if this happened to Georgia, Georgia Tech, or Georgia State. This was inexcusable for anything but a misprint in the itinerary or a problem with the bus…… a total classless act by Kiffin. If in fact this was due to practices running late, the USC AD should fire him on the spot. City of El Paso should make USC sleep on the bus from here on out. Fawk em all.
