Tech basketball assistant arrested for DUI

Georgia Tech assistant basketball coach Josh Postorino was arrested last week for DUI in Jacksonville, Fla. Postorino was not with the team for Saturday’s game against UNC Wilmington at McCamish Pavilion.

Postorino was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and admitted to jail at 3:20 a.m. Thursday morning on a DUI charge, according to the sheriff’s office website. He was released that afternoon. Reached Sunday, Postorino declined comment.

A statement from the team released just prior to Saturday’s game said that he would not be on the bench “for an indefinite period of time in order to deal with personal issues.”

Following the game, coach Brian Gregory said that “out of respect for Josh, I’m going to leave the statement on its own,” a position he took again Sunday.

Postorino, 35, was hired in April 2011 by Gregory. He was in Jacksonville for recruiting, including a visit to Tech signee Solomon Poole.
