“Anytime you lose, the whole stuff bothers you. I think the penalties, the turnovers, the self-inflicted stuff bothers me the most, that we can’t call a formation and play together that we can’t run on (the correct snap count), that we can’t run a play without holding. All those things bother me.”
Coach Paul Johnson on what bothered him most about the loss
“It’s very frustrating because we’ve been preaching all week, Take care of the ball, do the little things right and we’ll give ourselves a chance to be in the ballgame. It just felt like we laid an egg.”
Quarterback Tevin Washington on Tech mistakes
“I think total yards, they don’t add up in the win or loss column.”
Washington on Tech outgaining Georgia 426-379
“They won the last four. The only way to get the thing going the other way is to beat ’em. You’ve got to hope next year’s team will be able to come out and hopefully get a win.”
Washington on Georgia’s dominance in the rivalry
“You’ve got to flush it and move on to the next game. I feel like we’ve got another opportunity to go out and get a win. Guys are excited. We’re playing for the championship. We’ve still got a lot to play for, get a chance to go to a BCS bowl if we win.”
Washington on getting ready for the ACC Championship game vs. Florida State
“I was just trying to make a play for the offense and keep trying to get more yards and he just got me.”
A-back Robbie Godhigh on getting stripped of the ball at the Georgia 1-yard line by Bacarri Rambo
“We’ve got to stick together because some guys were fading apart during the last bit of the game, but we’ve just got to stick together and hold tight because we’ve got something big up next week.”
Inside linebacker Quayshawn Nealy on defensive players’ frustrations at the end of the game
“They tried to make sure that we didn’t get the ball on the perimeter. That left it up to me and (Zach) Laskey a lot to try to get some of the tough yards on the inside. I think we were able to do that pretty much most of the game, but it wasn’t enough.”
B-back David Sims, who led Tech with 71 rushing yards, on the Georgia linebackers – fd
“I feel like if you watch the film, it was more so from a scheme standpoint as opposed to them mushing us around, but they ran the ball successfully for sure. They got some good schemes on us, they managed to find creases. Their running back isn’t very easy to tackle, so when you add in all those things, you have a problem.”
Defensive end Izaan Cross on Georgia’s running game
“Really? Were you watching the game? Do you think it mattered where they got the ball?”
Johnson, in response to a question about Georgia’s field-position advantage in the first half

The service academy option works until good defenses make adjustments, PJ isn’t going to get someone like “Elite” i.e. Keith Marshall (who Pj offered a ship to Tech) to sign and play in this system.
And he needs way more than a defensive coordinator.PJ is in over his head. FSU will not show the mercy Mark Richt did. Its year five how many all ACC players has PJ signed?

The whole stuff that bothers coach fish fry is all stuff that comes back to coaching and he’s too damn stupid to know because if he did he wouldn’t be putting it out there for the public to hear.

I have been Tech fan all my life and I can see that the program will never, ever be even with GA or most other schoos. That’s the way it is…. Inner City, limited academics, plus Tech is not a “Destination” job that will attract quality coaches that would stay. Tech could not keep O’leary, Bill Curry, and any others who won there then left. I’m not making excuses so don’t go there. Plain and simple… If I’m a 4-5 star player, why would I go there?

2. the coaches are not coaching the kids up.

Wow…
The trashing of Georgia by the same guys who were claiming victory this week is staggering.
Calling Georgia ‘thugs’ and already naming Alabama as the winner of next weeks game is ‘at best’ poor form. While at the same time, assuming that Tech will beat a darn good FSU team and somehow meet and beat UGA the 2nd time is delusional and borders on being just plain stupid.
I never write harsh comments on the UGA or Tech blogs – but some of you guys need help…
For what it is worth; I truly want to see Tech have a successful program. Not at the expense of Georgia, but for the school, the alumni and fans. These blogs bring out the worst in a lot of people from both sides. We all have friends/relative that attended the other University. I want these guys to look forward to the season and to enjoy the games – that means winning…
Good luck against FSU – I hope you win and I hope you win your bowl game.
There is too much talent in this state for Georgia Tech to fall to this level. I’ve posted the following stat numerous times – CPJ’s career – his defense’s have averaged giving up 23 points a game. This year is looking to land somewhere between 33-35. That state is LOADED with talent that plays on the defensive side of the ball. No reason in the world why that GT shouldn’t be grabbing more talent than they are…
Go find your own James Franklin or hope Whisenhunt is released from Arizona and pay him whatever it takes to come home.

Well, I guess we can come up with ten reasons this game is not worth playing any more. Blame Bobby Dodd for pulling out of the SEC. The ACC has slid so far now that even Va Tech is sucking. Why would a premier high school athlete go to an ACC school for football when there are other conferences getting more respect? This has made CPJ’s job at recruiting the top talent impossible. I would add that Richt basically has the triple option conquered, wouldn’t you say? When you shut off the pitch outside and you have hogs up front, all that’s left is the pass. There you have it.

The University of Georgia football scout team could have beaten us, for crying out loud. If Georgia had kept their foot on the pedal for the duration, the score could have easily been 56 to 3.

Hey GT fans. There is not 1 starter on offense or defense at GT that could start for GEORGIA ! Your football team is horrible and sucks! I can’t believe people actually pay to attend any football games. And if GT even had an AD, I bet he would deny the offer to play in ACC Champ game and any bowl invite! Face the truth!

Take the wheel – it’s conceivable tech could play georgia in the orange bowl, but highly unlikely. since alabama would be in the national championship game, the sugar bowl would likely take an sec team (probably georgia or florida), which would give the sec its two-team limit for bcs bowls.

The talent is good enough if coached up from high school. Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech’s recruiting is about the same as us, but he is one of the very best coaches in the nation. Congrats, to the Crime Dawgs, they just whipped us. A new defensive co-ordinator and more passes will get us going next year. Vad Lee is the quarterback we have been waiting for, and Justin Thomas is a really good one, also,

Tech should have went to the Southern Conference when Billy C, cut all those seats out of Grant Field—-Bobby Dodd couldn’t win at Ga Tech these days—-Think what it would mean to play in a league where Pitiful Paul is the Alpha Dawg—-If you ever sat at a game at Furman in the fall when the leaves turn, you would forget about Athens—

Re. Jacket-1 post; It’s time to put this National Championship business to rest. TECH has never had a “consensus” National Champ. They claim four, 1917, 1928, 1952 and 1990; all of which were shared with another team(s). UGA has two “consensus” titles; 1942 and 1980. UGA has three additional claimed championships; 1927, 1946 and 1968. UGA doesn’t proclaim these three from the high heavens, because they weren’t undisputed!!!! By the way, I was raised a TECH fan by my TECH grad father, who loved TECH dearly, and agreed on this topic. As a UGA grad myself, he and I had some really strong discussons about UGA vs. GT, and I miss his “hate” for my alma mater!! Also, it’s “who” not “whom” has won more titles, in your grammatically incorrect sentence!!

It would be Tech’s second appearance in one of the traditional four major bowl games (Cotton, Orange, Rose, Sugar) since 1967.

After reading all of the comments as of Monday morning, (I am a semi-retired Tech Alumni) Tech and its fans should accept the fact that Georgia Tech is an institution of higher learning that is rated with the best in the USA and the world, such as Harvard (Ivy league football), MIT (no football) and Cal Tech (no football); and not a football factory that pretends to be a University.
Our country needs Scientists and Engineers a lot more than it needs professional football players.
The southern conference looks like a good choice.

CB, you literally made me laugh out loud. What a self-congratulatory idiot you are. Please stop comparing Tech, a fine institution, with MIT or any school in the Ivy league. Tech is an above-average regional institution, but you are not stealing a single student from the Ivy’s, the service academies, nor top-tier schools like MIT, Stanford, UVA, or even VaTech (a school from your own conference which also boasts highly competitive athletic teams). Comparing Tech to these schools academically is as comical and unfair as comparing them to schools with far more competitive athletic programs.
There are plenty of excuses for Tech’s futility on the gridiron, but Ivy-league academic standards is not on that list. Buffoon!

GT could hire the best assistants in the nation but as long as CPJ is the head coach at GT nothing will change. He is to stuborn and set in his ways. Just look at his comments to the press. CPJ does not give a damn about the supporters, tradition or the program. He has his contract and so to H–l with all of you. If I were a UGA fan I would pray you keep him for ever. His attitude is if you don’t like the way I do things pull for the other guy.

CB>>>> You couldn’t have gonr to GT and made such a dumb statement. It always amazes me that when GT looses to UGA it is always because they are smarter. Well they weren’t smarter Saturday or they would have found a way to win dispite their physical shortcomings. Even if GT was to leave the ACC for another confrence they would still have to play UGA.

Johnson is a dead man walking, just a matter of when. Tech has seen as good as it will get, unfortunately, it was with players he DIDN’T recruit to Tech. Recruiting services aren’t the Holy Grail of who can play and who can’t, but a pretty good bench mark. Tech is getting a plum or two and then Western Carolina type players. The results are there to see. Duke has a better defense. DUKE!

I still feel guilty about wasting Calvin Johnson’s college career. I would throw deep balls down the sideline and Calvin caught them every time. Sadly most of my passes kind of floated five yards out of bounds. Calvin would come down with the ball regardless how far out of bounds I threw it. It didn’t get us any yards but it was amazing to watch. We never did beat Georgia but that is not my fault. I couldn’t believe they never found a better quarterback than me. I’m still amazed I played at all. I don’t think we will ever beat Georgia again.
