McCamish opener close to sellout

Friday’s inaugural game at McCamish Pavilion is nearing sellout.

Rick Thorpe, Georgia Tech associate athletic director for sales and fan experience, said the number of remaining single-game tickets is down to a “very, very limited number.” Once those are sold, fans hoping to see the Georgia Tech men’s basketball team open the new 8,600-seat arena against Tulane will only be able to purchase season tickets or a mini-plan.

“It’s a good point to be at right now,” Thorpe said.

One plan available is a two-game package for the Tulane game and the Georgia game, the latter on Dec. 4.

Good. We should at least open the new arena with a sellout. Besides, we got what we asked for with Hewitt being fired, so we should support the new man and the team.

Really looking forward to Friday night. My two oldest sons and I are going to get to see hopefully a Tech win and a chance to welcome Coach Cremins and many of his “memory makers” back on the hardwood. From Steppe to Price, Salley, Ferrell, Hammonds, and Leathel Weapon 3 Anderson,Oliver, Scott to Harpring, the Neal bros, and the 04 team —-
Season tix since 1980, what a run at the Thrillerdome–

Coach Gregory, lets build some more memories in the new McCamish Pavilion!

Tech is better than Georgia at basketball. We just didn’t have consistency under Hewitt. Coach Gregory is really suprising me so far and hopefully he can build us into something special over the years to come. We already know the kind of talent that comes out of Georgia, let alone the Atlanta area.

The Dawg envy by you GT supporters is something to behold. You measure your programs by our success. Interesting. Youve beaten us how many times over the last 5 yrs in basketball? How many CWS appearances do you have with your baseball program? How many regional and super regional wins? How many national titles in tennis do you boys have? How many national titles in golf? What kind of swimming program do you have?

Instead of worrying about what Georgia is doing, you might need to worry about what GT is doing.

I do admit, one thing you do lead us in, no doubt about it whatsoever, you are clearly superior, you lead us in NCAA probation. You also lead us in games forfeited and Conf
championships forfeited.

Do they play in a rodeo barn?

Have any of their players made an impact in the association?

Hats off to the GTAA for bringing excitement back to GT Basketball. And thank God for UGA trolls, who constantly remind me that I’m blessed to not be among their unwashed masses.

So only a few single game tickets remain. But when those are sold, it still isn’t a sellout because there are other tickets that are still apart of packages that haven’t been sold. So how far away from a sellout is this game? Does it look like there will actually be a full house on Friday night?

HOnestly, it should be a sellout considering the place only holds 8600 and its the inaugural game.
That is not somethng to brag about.

As far as UGA basketball- UGA fans dont care about basketball so we should be better than them.
Why would UGA fans defend their program when they dont even show up for the games ?

I don’t like basketball. We recruit too many guys who can read, write and stay out of jail these days. Bring back Harrick and THUG OUT! Richt knows how to do it. Me and my boy Bubba play this drinkin game: On every play, we take a shot or chug a beer for every one of our boys involved in the play who’s been arrested. Last game, I got drunk 5 minutes into the game. Bubba had alcohol poisoning by halftime. Go Dwags!
