Live blog: Georgia Tech-Maryland
Greetings –
A few thoughts on Georgia Tech-Maryland.
1. Obviously, how Maryland quarterback Shawn Petty can do is going to have a large impact on the outcome. Look for Georgia Tech to stick just about everybody in the box.
2. Tevin Washington will start. I’d guess both play a lot in the first half.
3. Kind of breezy. That could mean less passing than normal for both sides. This game could be over in 2:45.
4. Don’t know if you saw it, but Miami may self-impose a bowl ban to pacify the NCAA. Story from the Sun-Sentinel here. If that happens – Miami won’t make an announcement until it becomes bowl eligible – it would mean that if Tech wins today and Virginia Tech loses this Thursday to Florida State, the Jackets would control their own destiny in the Coastal Division. Crazy.
5. Tiny crowd. Maryland won’t get much of a lift at home, it doesn’t appear.

PJ has been talking up Maryland all week and how they are only a few plays from being undefeated. He is still trying to talk about what a great team virginia tech is even though they look awful.

Horse collar. I still think Tech should consider going for two-point conversions. Someone came up with that idea earlier. Might be worth a look the way it’s going with the kickers. CPJ’s about to burst a blood vessel up 33-7.

@ Ken, you still alive? How bout a little insight. This ones in the bag as well it should be all things considered, but the real question is can we get or will we get two more wins????? What’s the temperature of the team? Do they beleive or are they cashed in and moving on? Tommy Bowden said earlier that UNC is the 3rd best team in the ACC right now. Are they that good? Tell us, good or bad.

My son is a volunteer coach for kickers and punters at a high school and also trained an NC State kicker who went on the play for the Detroit Lions. He also worked in a kicking camp summers after his high school kicking./ punting days to teach others. Maybe he could come to Tech and fix this – it is not that hard.

Is UNC legit. I know that they have lost 3 games by total of 9 pts, all on the road, including 5 pt loss to top ten Louisville. In two of the losses they lost when opponent drove length of field with less3mins, and were onLouisville 5 yd line w/1st down, but dropped TD in end zone w/ less than 2 mins remaining that wud have given them the win. They also have best player in con in Gio Bernard. I guess I answered my own question. We will be underdog.
