Live blog: Georgia Tech-Maryland
Greetings –
A few thoughts on Georgia Tech-Maryland.
1. Obviously, how Maryland quarterback Shawn Petty can do is going to have a large impact on the outcome. Look for Georgia Tech to stick just about everybody in the box.
2. Tevin Washington will start. I’d guess both play a lot in the first half.
3. Kind of breezy. That could mean less passing than normal for both sides. This game could be over in 2:45.
4. Don’t know if you saw it, but Miami may self-impose a bowl ban to pacify the NCAA. Story from the Sun-Sentinel here. If that happens – Miami won’t make an announcement until it becomes bowl eligible – it would mean that if Tech wins today and Virginia Tech loses this Thursday to Florida State, the Jackets would control their own destiny in the Coastal Division. Crazy.
5. Tiny crowd. Maryland won’t get much of a lift at home, it doesn’t appear.

I flipped over to the UF-Mizzou game during the commercials. The first thing they said was that the Florida punter was having an excellent day. It’s rarely a good thing when they say that.

Biff, we have a top 5 kicker committed. The kid is good. And Tech doesn’t play soccer, and last I checked soccer is not particularly good in Asia and the Middle East. Not too many Brits and Brazilians at Tech, lol.

I’m just not a big PJ fan since he is too stubborn to change and is a jerk to the media which doesn’t help us in recruting or coverage. I didn’t get tickets this year since he brought back Groh and gave him a new contract. I used to go to basketball games until DRad refused to get rid of Hewitt after getting us on probation for the second time for poor APR rates. He had a great opportunity to negotiate out of the huge buyout but didn’t since Hewitt had gotten Favors for another one and done that set us back even further.

@ DawgNole……..it won’t take away the importance of that win last week, but there was definitely no “shine” to it to begin with. It was a SLOPPY game by both teams.

Like Stein said, beating the gators was as shiny as it gets LAST weekend. And much as I hate ‘em, I’m grudgingly pulling for them until the FSU game, just like I always pull for Tech except when they play UGA (or FSU). You want it to mean something when you beat your biggest rival.
Yeah, that one last week was ugly, but we’ll take it. And I expect that if y’all win an ugly one over us in Athens Nov 24, you’ll welcome it w/ open arms.

it wouldnt take shine off the fla win..uga also blew out mizzou…if you play that game then you also have to say notre dames wins have no shine at all . the wins against mich and mich st and also okl ..all have struggled against very weak teams…that fact is uga beat at the time the number 2 team in the country and only loss was to the number 5 team…

@ George…..3 – 2 ??? WOW, I don’t remember that one. It HAD to be ugly. Ugliest Tech – UGA game I ever saw was 1969 win by Tech 6 – 0 in Atlanta. Ugly but SWEET !!!!

ga tech will still be the same ole tech. this win today would bring false confidence if anything, just like the win against BC 2 weeks ago, 1 week later the get killed by BYU. this maryland team is very bad and even worse with its freshman linebacker having to play the qb position…go for tech for not losing to them but not sure its much to brag about

That 6-0 game in 1969 was the BEST game I saw in a long time…. of course, I was just back from Vietnam that week.
