A few notes for Georgia Tech-BYU
1. David Scully won’t play. Justin Moore will take field goals and extra points. Looks like maybe Chris Tanner will handle the kickoffs.
2. Tech is wearing white helmets, white jerseys, white pants. It’s the same combination worn for the Virginia Tech game.
3. At least by one metric, should Tech beat BYU, it’ll be its best win of the season. BYU is No. 30 in the Sagarin ratings. Boston College is No. 104, is No. 105 and Presbyterian is No. 241.
Clemson is No. 23, Virginia Tech is No. 51, Miami is No. 61, MTSU is No. 116.

Stop with the recruiting is better…again Tech fans who know nothing about big time football…the recruiting stinks as evident on the field. No way BYU should have more talent than us…we are located in GA…we should be able to get 8-12 players a year from our state who are difference makers. Currently, we get 1 or 2…if that.

the only coach that needs to go.
Being a nice guy just doesn’t cut it. Coach Kelly is not the answer I am afraid. If cpj wants to keep his job he needs to clean house.
I think that cpj hit part of the problem last week when he pointed his finger at the partying and lack of focus on the game from the sidelines the team is not engaged in the game like it should be.
As the announcers noted…. the entire BYU D was on its feet for most of the 2nd half. When is the last time gt has had that happen…. on O or D? We were flat today …AGAIN… and it showed.
We are a bad team that is getting worse by the game. It will be a miracle if we finish with 6 wins. Even if we do, this team is not good enough to win a bowl and we will finish with a losing record for the 2nd year in a row.
It may be a good time for us to let the bowl streak die and regroup for next year. We are too complacent as a team and a fan base as was shown by the fans who left early.
I say stay home this year and allow cpj time to find a new staff.

I’ve been a season ticket holder for over 20 years and will continue to support my Jackets, but DAMN they make it hard! I really wanted to be a PJ fan and believe in his system, but it’s painfully obvious the program is going nowhere fast. I still say its the talent. We are too slow too small and unmotivated. That my friends is a lethal combination.

I’ll give CPJ the rest of the season to develop Vad Lee, then judge him based on next year. That’s the extent of my patience, especially if we don’t win 3 out if the last 4 to keep the bowl streak alive.

The biggest issue we have is lack of motivation – and that’s entirely up to the coaches, especially CPJ.

Dude, no offense but you are trying to make a really inane argument for no good reason. Put down your computer for a minute and take a look at the crap product on the field. Ain’t no players out there, bud.

Well, folks I’m back as promised. Here’s why we lost:
1. Poor execution on offense, defense, special teams.
2. Poor 3rd down conversion rate: 0-10
3. Poor 3rd down defense: 9-16
4. Poor tackling & missed tackles. Williams & Nelson looked like All-Americans… nobody tackled anybody square and center, wrapping them up. All I saw was glances and shoves.
5. 4th quarter burnout. Like every game this season.
6. No consistent drives on offense. Hence, no TOP. Therefore, see #5.
7. No pass rush.
8. No kicking game. Not a single kickoff into the end zone, and missed a chip shot field goal.
9. Absolutely horrendous kick return coverage.
10. No passing game. Didn’t I say we needed to come out passing at the start. And Tevin needs to throw to his left side, not the right side where we have weaker receivers & A-backs.
11. Vad Lee disappointed with his execution of the triple option. Bad reads all around.
12. Of course, he only got in because Tevin made a bunch of missed reads.
13. Zero blocking by A-backs and wide receivers.
14. No big plays on offense.
15. Poor conditioning of defense. Players aren’t prepared to play 4 quarters.
16. No excitement/support from the sideline.
17. Lack of size and speed (read: competitive athletes) on both sides of the ball. No talent, no playmakers, no anything.
18. Poor coaching on special teams.
19. Poor coaching on defense.
20. In fact, poor coaching overall.
21. Mismanagement of the athletic department.
22. Lack of fan interest.

I’m making the argument that criticism should be legitimate. That doesn’t equate to giving CPJ a free pass. Recruiting isn’t the problem, because it hasn’t really changed. The scheme isn’t the problem. It has worked in the past, and other coaches respect it because it is schematically sound. The problem is motivation. The problem is coaching.

Coaching and talent, coaching and talent!!! You can win sometimes with one and not the other, and you will win most of the time when you have both, but you will never win if you don’t have either, and men, right now, we don’t have either!!!

I’m still puzzled as to why our punter lines up 10 yards or less from the line of scrimmage when he punts. That’s why the punt in the second quarter was blocked. That’s just basic lack of fundamentals. Most teams line their punter up at least 12-15 yards behind the line. That miscue led to a key TD for BYU today in a critical time during the game. Poor coaching, perhaps?

Recruiting’s one of the favorite false causes of uneducated fans. Not doing so well? Guess it must be recruiting! Sorry, but it’s just not true. Our recruiting is at the same level as it has been for over a decade. The fact is that good players play poorly when they’re coaches poorly. That’s why U(sic)GA’s #1 recruiting class won absolutely nothing.
And how are we supposed to improve it, anyway? We can’t single-handedly rehab the national image of the ACC. We certainly can’t add junk majors or dumb down the curriculum for athletes. How do you suggest a school like ours compete with programs like Alabama, South Carolina, and Georgia? Answer that question, and I’ll submit your name to DRad for consideration.

Would suspect that those of us who’ve continued to defend our offense as “not the problem” are reconsidering. EVERYTHING is part of the problem with our Jackets’ football. Would a “state of shambles” be too strong an assessment? Check the record. Just the facts. Just sayin…

lxUn1c0:
Yeah, you win. Our recruits really are top notch. They’re just not as good as everybody else’s.
Look, buddy, I crap out more football knowledge every morning than you’ll ever have, so you can get over yourself about right now. Don’t be a fool. Watch the players on the field, and, especially, watch the players on the other teams. Ours don’t compare.
If you weren’t so busy stroking yourself and drooling about an ignorant opinion you gleaned from somewhere on the Internet that our average recruiting rank is higher than it was under Gailey, or whatever, and if you had any shred of a clue in your ignorant brain, you would make a note to yourself that those coaches may have had the same overall average of recruits, but they also recruited at least a handful of playmakers – just a couple on each side of the ball – who make all the difference.
Over the last decade, Tech has put a nice batch of talent in the NFL. So, Mr. Smart Guy, why don’t you tell me how many players from this Tech team – the Tech team that in your opinion is filled with the same level of recruits as in the past and where recruiting is not the problem – are going to play in the NFL? Yeah, that’s right, Mr. Educated Football Guy. Zero. None. That’s because this team has no talent. No playmakers. That’s why PJ succeeded in his first two years with Gailey’s players! Are you that blind! PJ’s recruits can’t play BCS football! Watch the game, moron!

Jo Bling, you needed to conduct yourself with more respect. Football isn’t as important as common decency. Every couch potato fan thinks they know more than anybody else, especially when they’re backing it up with “their eyes” or “their gut” instead of numbers and facts.
Look up “illusory superiority.” I’m done with you.

Sayonara, Mr. Educated Football Man. Didn’t think you’d have an answer for that, just like you don’t have an answer for why the same coach, coaching the same we he always has, can win with someone else’s recruits but not his own. Or why a fair percentage of the previous two coaches’ recruits made first or second team All-ACC, even All-American teams, and were drafted into the NFL, and yet none of the current coach’s recruits ever will.
And now you have the nerve to accuse ME of false superiority? After you called me an uneducated football fan? Dude, you really don’t have a clue.

Whaaat??? So, PJ was a “good coach” to Demaryius, Dwyer, Nesbitt, Burnett and Morgan, et. al., but not to the current crop?
You don’t make any sense, bud, and you wouldn’t know talent if it hit you in the head. Don’t come on here making stupid arguments about up being down and black being white. Recruiting is at least 90 percent of the problem with Ga. Tech team, as anyone with two eyes can see. Good night.

Will someone in the GT athletic dept please listen to the fans. It’s time for a change, we need a known coach that can recruit and get better then 2 and 3 star players for heaven sake. Please make a change befor you lose more of your fan base. If you wait too much longer, your gonna lose lots of them…. We’re tired of watching this long boring story. For heaven sakes make the change. The option will not work anymore, you will not get the talent to compete with the big boys….. Ty

2 coaches we don’t need- special teams- getting worse, not better;
strength & condition- our guys have none. How many times were
OL standing and looking, rather than blocking the man in front, right
or left of them. The boys aren’t playing for PJ. Program is being
run into the ground like Hewitt did.-
