This has so far been the best home game times Tech football has had in a while. I’m so use to most of them being noon starts. It’s a shame the bad start is gonna chase a lot of people away. 3 or later at Bobby Dodd is heaven.

A bad start is chasing people away? I think more than just a bad start! Last year was pathetic and this year is down right comical! I think the players and fans deserve more than a blowhard self-grandizing head coach with ZERO success in D1 football. Paul Johnson is a failure at best and a clown at least.

WOW, I am stunned. I figured we would get stuck with a noon start. This is great. But what must the Clemson fans think about getting a nooner; that sucks for them

Um Justin, did you not see his 4th down debacle in the 1st quarter? Basically a turnover on our end of the field, that turned into a TD for Clemson.

TW on 4th down, or in the 4th quarter, or in OT = FAIL

JustinSnyder …

TW’s not the one who decides to go for it on 4th down, but he is the player who CANNOT fail in those situations.

IMO, TW failed both times. But again, it was PJ who set him up to fail b/c he didn’t call for the punt/fg units.

@uh what? PJ had ONE year of success that culminated in a beatdown by LSU so bad I will never step foot in the Georgia Dome again! EVER! Who hired the defensive coordinator? Who said it would take 3 years for the defense to turn around? Who continues to have ST disasters? Who recruited the current players? Who is 0-4 in bowl games? Who has a record against division opponents including 1-4 against VT and UM? Who got beat by Kansas and MTSU? Who else? PJ! Keep supporting him and continue to watch this team lose! It doesn’t matter if you bring in the best DC on the planet this team will still lose with this HC! NOT ONE TEAM is in the top 25 that runs this damn offense! NOT ONE! NOT ONE TEAM has “EVER” ended the season in the top 10 that runs this offense!!!!!!!!!! The “ONLY” team that wants us to fire PJ is Clemson and they just beat us!!!! PJ is not a HC!!!!!! GT will continue to LOSE with him as a HC! MARK THAT DOWN!

A QB is gonna make a few mistakes a game. You don’t bench a QB who is leading an offense average 38 points per game. You bench guys like Frazier of Auburn whose offense is putting 15 a game. Until this offense isn’t putting up points, stick with Tevin. The defense has cost us every game so far this year.

TW failures on 4th down are a product of POOR COACHING. Watch the tape from the Miami & Clemson games and you’ll see a QB confused on what to do after the defense adjusts before the play….

Yeah I think that turnover on 4th down was because the backup center had just come in when Finch got hurt. The defense is the problem. This shouldnt even be a debate.

@Silly Mutts: You honestly believe with “the best DC on the planet,” we wouldn’t have better results? 42 to Miami, 49 to MTSU, and 47 to Clemson. If we had a decent DC, we could be at least 5-1.

GT Joe

Let’s analyze Tevin Washington this season:

INT in OT at VT. Loss.
Failed 4th down in OT vs. Miami. Loss.
MTSU: 4 yards on 19 carries. Two sure TD passes underthrown, one results in INT. Loss.

And now Clemson:

Failed 4th down in our end, leads to Clemson TD.
2nd quarter, 3rd and 7: TW rush for one yard loss.
3rd and 2: TW pass incomplete. Missed FG.
4th and 1 at Clemson 7: TW rush, no gain, fumble, TO.
3rd and 8 at Clemson 8: TW pass incomplete. Settle for FG.
1st and 10 at GT 2: TW pass incomplete. Next play safety. Thanks for nothing.

Yeah, Tevin did enough to win the game. LOL.

GT Joe tevin drove the length of the field and won the game against VT. He shouldn’t have had to try to win the game a second time. And how are you going to blame the saftey on him and not the kick returner? I agree Vad has some upside and should see the field more but you sound almost as crazy as the UGA fans that want Murray benched if you think all of those were his fault.

Tevin folds in every big moment. Vad Lee has been a stud every time he comes in the game. Does Johnson think Tevin is going to change his colors magically?

Is it possible that both coaches are wrong? You all are so quick to say CPJ is wrong about all kinds of things, but not his choice of QB! Funny.

To reiterate the defense gave up 609, 510, and 601 yards the last three games and it’s the QBs fault we suck? Also Vad has been in for mop up duty. He hasn’t been in a game in a big moment.

the funny thing is that when CPJ was winning the ACC title for us in 2009 im SURE you were singing the same tune.

You make “some” valid points however ZERO success is incredibly inaccurate. CPJ’s offense is potent any defensive coordinator on the planet will tell you that and they will tell you that they hate trying to stop it. I’m not saying CPJ is the end all be all for us. However in our current situation the defense is in way worse shape than the offense in terms of being competitive and winning games. When we fix the issues on defense (i.e. a new dc) and we still lose… Then i may call for CPJ to go but until then i will support CPJ.

Justin: the 50 yards in 40 seconds didn’t LOSE US THE GAME.

The interception LOST US THE GAME.

And no, he wasn’t trying to throw it away. CPJ even said, “he was trying to make a play”. He threw it in the endzone. He could have just thrown it out on the sideline, but Tevin must have thought it was 4th down or something stupid, a la reggie ball.

@GT Joe…….

We put up 14 points within the first 5 minutes of the second half of the Miami game.

We had to throw the ball the entire second half against MTSU because our defense gave up 28 points.

We put up a field goal within the first quarter of the fourth quarter against Clemson, our returner got stuck at the 1 which led to a safety, and we drove down the field and missed a field goal.

Get your facts straight. You sound like an idiot.

“had to throw the ball he entire 2nd half against MTSU”: and your point is? Are you giving TW a pass since he can’t pass?

Yes, we put up a field goal in the 4th quarter, just like I said. Point? Oh, and settling for the 2nd FG (missed) is a sure way to beat Clemson! If we only made that FG! Think about how the game could have shifted. LOL.

Defense is fine. Hard not to give up big numbers when your offense is basically worthless for entire halves of games. TW can’t convert a 3rd down (and keep possession) to save his life in the 2nd half of games. 4th down? just hand the other team the ball. basically a fumble every time Tevin gets the snap on 4th.

Keep giving the other team the ball and you put the defense behind the 8 ball, esp. when fatigue sets in in the 2nd half.

Can ALABAMA win games when their offense basically goes scoreless in the 2nd half?

2. idiot QB

What we are watching, even with subpar TW at QB, is that PJ’s offense works. This O, with the ability to churn out long time-consuming drives, can sometimes be GT’s best D.

With a better QB option (i.e. Vad Lee), IMO, the O would be even better. TW calls his own # too often. He needs to spread the ball more … check out the Aback yards vs. Clemson.

TW is currently 11-12 as a starter. If he stays healthy & GT runs the table, he finishes with an 18-12 record as a starter. And I’m sure there are 2-5 of the 12 Ls that, with better QB play, would be Ws.
But, back to reality, GT ain’t running the table.

shouldn’t have to score 50 pts a game to win every week. The points Tech has scored, outside of the VT game, should be plenty. Defense couldn’t get off the field if it was 3rd and 3, 3rd and 7 or 3rd and 65. Worst Tech defense, maybe worst defense, I have ever seen in my 30+ yrs of watching football.

TW failed vs VT … BAD int
TW failed vs UM … pitch the ball to Aback and it’s a TD.
TW threw a severely underthrown pass vs. MTSU, that would’ve been a game-tying TD (35-35), but instead was INT’d and returned to the GT 15. MTSU 42-28 a few plays later.
TW failed on 4th down, twice, vs. Clemson.

Better QB play in those 4 Ls, and I’ll guarantee GT’s not 0-4 in those games.
