“I told coach [Rick] Stockstill after the game they got after us and whipped our butts. I have to give Middle Tennessee a lot of credit because they played hard. But after saying that, it was embarrassing. I don’t think there’s any other way to describe it. We didn’t play with a lot of energy. We turned the ball over — we can’t do that — and we probably had as bad a day tackling as I’ve seen, maybe worse than last week. The bottom line we didn’t do anything really good. We didn’t block very well, we didn’t catch, we didn’t throw and when you do that and turn the ball over you get beat. That’s it in a nutshell, I guess.”
“Clearly we’ve got issues, we’ve got issues we have to address, there’s no doubt about that.”
Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson
“It could have. We just weren’t ready to play. We talked, we tried all sorts of different angles, but they didn’t come ready to play. So that comes back to me.”
Johnson on whether last week’s loss to Miami affected Saturday’s performance
“After the game, I’m just considering going and watching the tape.”
Johnson on whether he’s considering any changes on the staff
“I’m as disappointed as I’m sure the fans are. I’m embarrassed, too, and I’m going to do everything in my power to fix this and get it right. That’s all I can do.”
Johnson on what he would tell fans after the game
“This is as tough a loss as we’ve had since I’ve been here. We have to wash our memories. All we can do Sunday is get ready for Clemson and focus on the little things and things you can control.”
Tech quarterback Tevin Washington
“We came out too flat today, and when you give another team energy, give them momentum, it’s hard to stop once they get going.”
Washington on coming out flat
“That’s a hard question to answer. We’re a family out there and just trying to make plays. I’m really not sure.”
Tech linebacker Jabari Hunt-Days on what’s affected the defense the past two weeks
“That’s one of the main things that coach [Johnson] puts emphasis on is the missed assignments. That’s what hurts us. We made plays but when it was time for real crucial ones that didn’t require much yardage we just couldn’t get them. That hurt us.”
Tech A-back Orwin Smith on the Jackets’ mistakes
“It affected us, but then again the next guy should be able to step up and take his place. I feel like we are a brotherhood out there and we live off each other. It didn’t affect us.”
Tech linebacker Quayshawn Nealy on playing without Jeremiah Attaochu
“This was a hard-fought physical game. I thought our conditioning was a factor in the game. We kept pushing, we kept pressing, and we kept coming after them. On defense, we were relentless. We were fast off the ground. We didn’t lay around.”
Middle Tennessee state coach Rick Stockstill

Tevin Washington does not have the instinct necessary to run the triple option. I will not watch another ballgame with Tevin Washington behind the center.

Tech proved that if you are out of position/confused on defense and don’t wrap up when tackling, the other team will score on you no matter who they are. MTSU came to play and we didn’t. I don’t think they punted until the 3rd quarter.
The defense is getting worse, not better as the season goes on and the offense has apparently hit a brick wall too. The coaching staff can only do so much and whatever they are doing not effective. .

Open letter to Ga. Tech Football Team:
I have been a Fan of the school you represent since I found out as a child that being born in this state I had to choose between the Georgia Institute of Technology and that Bastion of higher education in Athens. Despite my family’s heritage and loyalty to Georgia I chose Tech.
I chose Tech and what it stood for because of the school not the Football team. I was never as proud of that decision as I was during the Jan Kemp era at the other school.
You represent a school that has given us a President, Nobel laureates, Astronauts, not to mention Jeff Foxworthy.
What I am saying is that I personally hold you to a higher standard. What I saw the last 2 Saturdays embarrassed me and made me sick to my stomach.
The fact that you lost to Miami doesn’t bother me the fact that you quit, now that bothers me. When Miami tied the game to take it to overtime you quit, Miami didn’t.
This last Saturday you played a team that had no where near the talent you have. You may have been feeling sorry for yourself but Middle Tenn. didn’t feel sorry for you. They beat you in every phase of the game. You quit before the game even started. I will not tolerate a quitter. I will not support of spend my money to see a bunch of quitters. I hope you don’t think Clemson will feel sorry for you.
A note to your defense, the art of tackling seems to be a thing of the past. To tackle is to wrap the runner up. It probably won’t make Sports Center’s highlights like a knock down or dive at the feet will but it will bring the runner down. As silly as that sounds that is your objective. You need to get bask to basics, PERIOD.
In November I am going to Philadelphia to watch 2 teams’ play that represents the values I look for in an institution.
You watch the Army Navy game and you will not see a quitter. When they graduate they go on to defend our lives with theirs. If they quit, we the United States of America lose.
Their Football teams are not in the top 10 but their players and students represent what this country should stand for. Thank God they don’t know the meaning of QUIT.
I can take the smart ass comments that about 3 of my FB friends make because the things you should represent do not matter to them. To them you are Nerds and Football is everything.
I respect my family and friends that attended UGA or others that support their “Dawgs” because in most cases I know that they are proud of their school first and their football team second.
To the others you need to get a life and stop living your life through your football team. Win or loose it will have no effect on your life.
To be a QUITTER gets easier and easier. That gentlemen, will have an effect on your life.

It’s sure as hell not helping with all the injuries on defense, but also I think we’ve had the wind taken out of us with these losses. If we were 4-0 and playing MTSU, I think it would have been a different story. I kept hearing about how the whole team left the Va Tech behind and moved on, and I believe it considering it was the first game, but it truly seems as if the Miami loss is carried a much larger toll on the players. They looked completely at of it, and showed no enthusiasm. Obviously, the main goal in this season now is just making a bowl game, which is still attainable, but in order to do that, they need play stop believing they’re losers or it’s gonna end up showing more so on the field.

IMNTBHO…..all any fan has the “right” to expect from their team. To be competitive! To put itself in a position to win at the end the game! To compete for the conference championship! To actually be the champion every now & again! To be competitive against their #1 rival & beat said rival every now & again! Maybe be “lucky” enough to even be in the mix for the MNC every now & again & maybe actually upsey the applecart & win it! If the fan’s team can just be competitive, all of the rest will fall in place. Like any business, it was not created to give us a job. No college/institution was created to give us a sports team to cheer for….that is supposed to secondary. Do we want/expect more? Do we want/expect to win like Alabama? Many fans answer those questions yes. Will they get their wish? Not likely. Enjoy your team’s successes & hurt for their losses. And live with both. And always have pride in your”s & their achievements. Wear your colors proudly. Selah.
will you go to the prom with me, mom?

This loss has to be considered the most deflating, embarrassing and historic for sure. Being upset by an underdog is one thing but losing by 21 freaking points??? Are you kidding me? Worst loss in Tech history. 21 points is a beat down by a program that nobody has ever heard of. What a disgrace to the ACC and all Tech fans.
