The over/under for that game will be 100. Clemson’s defense isn’t much better than ours.

…what part of scoring 40+ points per game with the current QB makes it “Vad time”?

And the over/under for the OR v AZ game..

…last Saturday was really high, too, and AZ lost 49-0…this game may be the same way, though I have no clue as to which defense will be worse in the game…

arse: what part of 2 game-killing mistakes in two different OTs with the current QB makes it NOT “vad time”?

Clemson will have Boyd, Watkins, and Ellington for that game. Better hope the Jackets offense can score every damned drive or that one will get ugly. I predict that Clemson racks-up at least 550 yards.

I don’t think its Vad time beacuse of the play of Tevin at all. I was pro Tevin until after this past game because the season is now shot and we might as well let Vad get reps this year. I think he might not be very sharp yet, almost like Nesbitt in 08 with some bad pitches and bad decisions, but he’ll be ready to go next year. Again I dont think it has to do with Tevins play but where we are at

GT Joe

tooltime: Tevin is a game manager. he doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. This is why CPJ let’s him start. But when he does make a mistake, it costs us the game. Big time choker. INT in OT at VT and the bad audible on 4th down in OT vs. Miami both effectively ended the game for us.

CPJ needs to realize that a superior athlete can make a few mistakes and still do better than an inferior athlete who makes fewer mistakes.

Couple of observations — I was there too.

Awful lot of overreaction to one game–bad start, recovered, bad finish– We dont need to fire anybody yet and Vad is to green. I expect we will see Vad this weekend and get ripened up.

CPJ made the right call on 4th and 1 at the 50 yard line. If you dont make that first down you hand them the ball with 2 minutes and a time out to go 50 yards. Josh Nesbit is gone. A 90 yard drive is the better choice if you DONT know the outcome.

CAG cant TACKLE for our guys. The last drive he played to keep the short pass in front and not give up the long ball. The problem is we still cant tackle. Yards after the catch is the problem. Same at VT. And yes I think there is to much cushion by the DB’s and to much emphasis on striping the ball vs tackling.

We lost 2 uglier games last year to UVA and UM because we couldnt score points just before we shocked everyone on the planet and beat Clemson, yes at home. Im not sayin we will but last year proved we can.

Lets play out the year, see how Vad progresses, and let DRad so his job.

GT Joe I partially agree. I feel like if the defense could make a tackle with 44 seconds to go it wouldnt have mattered. Also the thro he made to bostic on the 4th down to keep the game alve was a pretty clutch throw. But I hear you. Vad has a lot of upside and its time to let him take his lumps now and start building for next year. That run he had on the snap that was high for the TD was hopefully a sign of many things to come for him.

And I agree with the punt call too fuzzybee. I also would have kicked the FG in OT though and made Miami score a TD

It’s gonna be like a train wreck – ugly but you have to watch.

Let’s hope none of the defensive players get seriously injured by the trains about to run them over at Clemson and Georgia.

Any d1 qb could have made that throw to bostic (or the TD throw) against VT. Yet some fans are using it to defend Tevin.

Tooltime, thats a tough call for a coach to make and CPJ made that call because we were a tired D and he probably thought they would score a TD with the momentum. They did anyway.

GT Joe, I understand where you are coming from too, but Vad as much as I want him to be is not there yet. I could argue for Days at QB on the 4th and one???

Hindsight gentlemen, these calls we argue over are not as clear cut before the snap–

fuzzybee I definitely understand why he made the call. They were running all over us in the second half. I just persona;;y would have played it by the book and kiced the FG. I’m also not a coach though.

Just wondering: where do people get the idea that Vad is too green and not ready? It’s like folks are watching every practice or something.

Just because he isn’t starting doesn’t mean he isn’t ready. Coaches make wrong decisions all the time.

Some teams just seem to have another team’s number – Miami has now won several in a row from the Jackets, and for whatever reason, GA Tech seems to play well against Clemson. They also just got embarrassed and Paul Johnson doesn’t like to get embarrassed.

I don’t dislike Tevin. He has character and discipline and I respect that. I was so happy for him when it seemed he came through in a big spot against VT…only for naught. The Miami loss was not on him per say. It was a team loss. Same could be said for the VT game and the Utah OT loss. But the pattern here screams for a change. When you good enough to get your team ahead but not able to will the team to victory and if the backup has potential, then it’s time to see what he can do. If it were only one game, it’s one thing. But this has happened 3 times now in 5 games. Tevin’s been given plenty of opportunity to lead this team. He’s done well at times, even very well. Just not well enough when it really matters in my opinion to continue to get the opportunity as the starter. I know both qb will probably play against MTSU. The question is Clemson. I personally feel better about our chances there with Vad starting and Tevin, who is definitely a team guy, ready to back up should the environment be too much for Vad. If Tevin starts and the team struggles, Vad may then get a chance to supplant him in the 2nd half. I don’t see us being competitive if it goes down like that. This team has lost two INCREDIBLY emotional game in this young season. It seems very unlikely to me that they will rally around Tevin and beat Clemson on the road. Vad has more of a chance to provide a much needed spark and perhaps get us back on track IMHO.

So we lost to Miami. Ok, get over it. I was sick too of the outcome, but we got 8-9 games left. We can still go 10-2. Stop whining and let’s win out! Gah!

I’d like to see Vad start at Clemson just so we could settle the argument.
I ordered that storm at VT in 1999 to protect Godsey from getting crushed in a game that should not have been scheduled and that he was not ready for.
Kidding.

Wow. Run over by Clemson and UGA. We haven’t even played those games yet and you’re already counting a loss. How bout we just waive the white flag and play worlds smallest violin. SHUT UP ALREADY! Stop pouting and rally around our team! It is what it is. There is still a lot of games. Paul Johnson is not stupid. Stubborn, yes. But not stupid. Wasn’t Clemson the fifth ranked team in the nation last year and Tech killed them. And we always play UGA tough. Grow a pair guys and get behind this team!

Before Gailey and Johnson, Tech for decades had the highest winning percentage for bowl games.
I used to be very proud of that before the last two coaches destroyed it.
Michigan State took advantage of Michigan’s weakness to put a 4 game skid on them in their arch-rival game.
With a win in 2009, CPJ might have done the same to the Dawgs.
Even Curry managed two in a row.
But CPJ was looking ahead to the ACCCG and downplayed its importance.
Huge mistake.

Tevin/Vad; Tevin/Vad…. The offense is not the problem. You have to believe when the chips are down you’ve got the D to hold the lead for 44 seconds or 2 minutes. We just don’t have the D (sigh). Go Jackets and hope for the best.

Jacket Detective

Tech is lucky they had a player willing to do kickoffs in addition to A Back responsibilities.
I wish I knew how many KOs had been returned for TDs or to the 50 by returners who took the ball from over one yard deep in the end zone.
Let your star play.
The whole idea is to get him as many touches as possible.

I agree with your sentiment True Gold and White but if we can’t beat the arch-rival but once out of eleven, those empty seats in Bobby Dodd stadium will get greater and greater in number.
Uga fires any coach who losses three straight to Tech.
The Miami game was the big game this year and it was not very close to a sellout.
Like it or not, Tech is losing their fan base from hiring coaches many fans would not have hired.
If I was the AD, I would have it in the coaches contract wording that prohibits him from hiring any coach owned money by another college. Such coaches could settle or let the college out of the contract or work somewhere else.
Groh never gets hired if I was the AD.

Hence, that’s why you’re not AD, Jacket Detective. We just need to be more aggressive on Defense. Maybe we don’t have the talent. Under Tenuta, we were a feared team on that side of the ball. But y’all complained we lived or died by his scheme. Can’t we say the same thing on offense? Look, we haven’t had much consistency since O’Leary. As bad as these losses have been, there were a lot worse losses under Gailey and you know it: UGA 2002, Clemson 03, NC State 05, Notre Dame 06, West Virginia 07, Boston College 07 and Virginia 07. UGA 04 -06. You see where I’m going. It’s tough being a Tech fan but under Johnson, we are better. Hang in there.
