Jackson named ACC off. lineman of week

Georgia Tech offensive lineman Will Jackson was named the ACC offensive lineman of the week following the Yellow Jackets’ 56-20 win over Virginia Saturday.

In his first-ever start at offensive tackle, Jackson helped Tech accumulate 594 total yards with eight plays of 20 yards or more. Jackson, a junior, had played guard for his entire Tech career before being switched to right tackle for Saturday’s game. Jackson was the only Tech player chosen as a player of the week and the first Yellow Jacket to earn ACC player-of-the-week recognition.

The offensive back of the week was Florida State running back Chris Thompson, who gained 197 yards with two touchdowns on nine carries in just one half of play in the Seminoles’ win over Wake Forest. He scored on touchdown runs of 74 and 80 yards on consecutive second-quarter plays.

Tevin should have gooten Player of the Week! He scored more TD’s than the crimiNOLE that won it.
We get no respect for some reason this week.
Louis Young should have gotten some recognition too.

Including 0 for the last 7

2008 was a long time ago boys and girls

chris thompson, fsu, 9 carries, 197 yards, 2 TDs

tevin washington, georgia tech, 11 carries, 93 yards, 3 TDs + 6-8 passing, 125 yards, 1 TD

both impressive performance, but one seems to have been significantly better than the other.

i get the feeling that the most important stat for too many people around the ACC is the team name on the front of the jersey, and fsu still carries a lot of weight. more than it should.

actually, headey, 2009 is when tech beat clemson in the ACC title game and went to a bcs game.

2008 was not that great a year for tech – just a runner up in the coastal that year.

if you’re gonna spend all of your time on the georgia tech blogs, you should learn tech’s history a little better or u run the risk of looking foolish.

Congrats…..doubt if WE get a lineman as player of the week! By the way, football fans, Sandusky gets sentenced Oct. 9th. I think I speak for ALL college football fans when I say “Good riddance!” Wish I could pull the switch. Since I cannot, maybe they’ll put him with “Bruno”. He represents all that is BAD in athletics.

GT Girl …… the FSU back did what he did in just the first half. He didn’t play in the 3rd or 4th qtrs.
I watched much of the FSU game (and all of the 1st half)…that dude is AWESOME! And lightnening fast! He’s more than deserving of the award, not that TW wasn’t, but they usually only select one winner.

Plus, a little info about the FSU RB …… it was vs. Wake Forest in 2011 that this kid had 2 vertebrae broken, and this was his first action since. This surely didn’t hurt his chance of winning the OB Award.

Just checked the GT-UVA box score ……

Per PJ, the player “too good to be standing on the sidelines” (Synjyn Days) had ONE touch, a rush for 7 yds.

Nice work PJ, way to find a way to get the ball to your “weapon”.

GT Fan….

You’re making it sound like it’s that easy to just plug a guy who was our second string QB coming into the season at any spot on the field. Synjyn is himself by continuing to prove that he can’t hold onto the football.

Justin …

PJ has been quoted many times on Ken’s blogs stating that SD gets most of his reps at Aback.

And yes, if a kid is supposedly too good to be standing on the sidelines, then he’s versatile, and can play pretty much anywhere his talent can help the team.

Just beginning to see a pattern with PJ where he praises a player, then said player spends the majority of the time on the sidelines. Remember last season when PJ awarded Nesbitt’s #9 too the “player that plays the best to earn it”. IMO, winning #9 meant you were going to be a pretty crucial peace of the puzzle. Zenon didn’t play much after his almost KO return TD (opening the 2nd half) vs. Maryland last year.

Don’t want to see SD on the sidelines if he’s really that good, is all.

JustinSyder

He has claimed Synjyn is a good athlete, but honestly who isn’t a good athlete on this team. He obviously lost his number two spot at QB, and frankly there are at least 4 A backs I’d rather see in there before him. Maybe, ride the season out and try to get him on special teams or defense, but for now it looks like he is getting pushed back futher. On the plus side, if TW and Vad get hurt, it wouldn’t be a negative to have him as our third string guy.
