Georgia Tech quoteboard

Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson

“There were a lot of positives. That’s a good thing. I don’t care who you play when you have that many big plays you are doing something right.”

“A lot of freshmen played. It was good to get those guys out there so the next time they won’t be so wide-eyed and doing silly things.”

“It was good to get back here and play in out home stadium. I though the crowd that was there was really good and into it especially for a game that ended up being lopsided.”

On Presbyterian College’s defense

“Their corners were on an island. They were playing the run so hard. Their backside safeties were coming up.”

“Offensively we were OK in spots but we were sloppy. We had the ball out [on the ground] too much. We’ve got an issue or two to correct but any time you can get a win it’s positive.”

Presbyterian coach Harold Nichols

“Their guys get out there and they’re so fast you can’t catch them. You’ve got to give them credit. They’re a big-play offense and they took advantage of some matchups.”

Tech sophomore B-back Zach Laskey
on his 56-yard touchdown early in the game

“I was really excited. It kind of happened really quickly. I think the safety might have overran it and it was wide open. I just had to pick my legs up and grind it out.”

Tech sophomore safety Jamal Golden

On move to safety from cornerback because of injuries

“I’ve gotten more confident with each rep. Playing safety doesn’t bother me. I had no idea I was going to be playing safety coming into this year. But it happened and now I’ve got to run with it.”

“Any time you get experience it’s good, no matter who you are playing.”

Tech senior defensive end Izaan Cross

on the goal-line stand in the second quarter

“We really wanted to shut them out. We were very motivated and we didn’t want them to score at all. That’s pretty much what it boiled out to. We just put out all our effort and it was very exciting. The crowd went crazy. An awesome moment.”

On Presbyterian driving and scoring at game’s end

“I wanted to go out there and finish it but it’s fine.”

Tech sophomore wide receiver Jeff Greene

“It feels good to go out and get that first catch under my belt and have faith that I can go out there and get it.”

Tech junior linebacker Brandon Watts

on if it was difficult to play a game Saturday after playing on Monday

“Not really. We’re still young. We are college kids.”

on the rematch with Virginia after losing to the Cavaliers last season

“They beat us up front and on the edges. They ran it down our throats. We will be ready this time.”

It’s because Gotsis is a monster, and he showed last night he is going to be FUN to watch for the next 4 years.

http://www……because he is a Character and funny as hell.
because making inroads to Aussie Gridiron is a good thing.
because having stories run in the Herald Sun in his home town is going to get people to watch the games.

I didn’t notice Gotsis got in – ESPN 3 was flaking out toward the end. How many series did he play?

Sorry about your mother 5150.

Just went back on ESPN3and watched some of the 4th quarter and picked up his tackle for a loss. Thought we would either burn Gotsis or Kallon’s redshirt – we need more depth on the D-line.

Watched Vad’s two highlight plays again and was still just as impressive. Vad is a decpetively quick and fluid runner and the ball he threw to Greene was absolutely perfect. A nice article on rambling wreck about Vad….

Yeah, I figure the only way Warrick Dunn keeps this job is he has dirty pictures of the higher ups. I think one time they called Kelly Campbell for a play.

I like the idea of using Synjyn in the red zone. He just needs to hold on to the ball.
