I look for GT to pull off the upset. I’m not sure why because it seems the trend that if you have an off week to prepare, given the stats, you can figure out the GT offence. I just think that Va. Tech may be a little overrated at this point much like my Dawgs and they’re ripe for the picking early on seeing as though VT starts out slow. I hope my Dawgs don’t start out too slow vs Mizzu. Good luck guys!. I got a feeling that his years game at the end of November will have some national implications attached

Looking for a great game Monday night in B-Burg. It’s gonna come down to GT’s O Line Vs VT’s D Line. The Hokies are deeper than they have been in years on the defensive line. The Bees are gonna have to be able to throw the ball and I just don’t see it. The GT D is undersized and, well, Al Groh is something of a train wreck.
Hokies will start out slow but Logan Thomas takes control after Establishing the passing game with VT’s big receivers.
Look for GT to put up a gutsy effort but in the end their one dimensional O does them in (again).

The downside to the big play and the lone long gainer is the clock. If Tech does score quickly, VT gets the ball and our defense then has to STOP SOMEBODY WHEN IT COUNTS. I don’t doubt Al Groh knows his Xs and Ox and can scheme with the best of them. The issue is do we really have the athletes up front on defense to disrupt the other teams timing? I don’t know but I guess we will find out Monday night. Go Jackets!

Techerman, I feel your pain. Football more often than not comes down to one guy beating another to the ball, around the ball and because of the ball. VT has had our number. Hey, maybe a turnover?

Perhaps a turnover indeed, my yellow trousered friend!

Injuries and suspensions really hurt right out of the gate. I thought we had a real shot at the upset but now Im not sure. Reminds me to much of the bowl game depletion of talent that ultimately cost us the win.
I really want this for TW as much as the team and the rest of us. His career started here 2 years ago, he needs a better memory for post playing days!

VT replacing alot on offense – either our defense is ready now or it never will be. Offense – ditto. Big question – if we get behind and Tevin is throwing off his back foot (again), which results in alternating underthrows and overthrows, will Coach swallow his pride and stick V.Lee in there, and use the pass to set up the run? Also, third and short for VT, we need Dieke, Cross, Barnes and Cummings in there at the same time. I will not charge for my consulting.

If they can contain LT and limit his ability to scramble for the first down then I think we have a shot to win. Otherwise it will be like last year where he ran through our defense like Godzilla running though Tokyo City.

I see how the shotgun works at times. The qb can drop back further from his standing position, and throw the ball from a punters position, just finding an open receiver. Some college teams were displaing this yesterdy, Saturday, on tv. They found receivers too, so the chains moved alot. This is how an offense can break the back of the defense. Yes, the shotgun appears here to stay. If CPJ doesn’t embrace it more, he wont be at Tech to stay unless the plan is to phase out football and emphasize Fall academics.

yeah, there’s no way the 3optoff will be more successful than a shotgun; if it was, all teams would use it; f CPJ passed alot at Hawaii, why not at Tech? yellowjackets fly in air like passed footballs spiralling so symmetrically

i don’t think they’d fire him for that. they’ll fire him if he doesn’t win enough games.

not winning enough games is the symptom of the problem, and the problem is avoidance of the shotgun; the 3optoff run by Tech is kinda similar to the wishbone, nd is of course no longer used; the fake ‘em out wishbone running game, and the drop back from LOS snaps to pass it out of the wishbone; the 3optoff is a copy of the wishbone, and there’s no way it will survive; just recall the shotgun clinic NC State put on with Russell, their pro baseball draftee, at the helm at BD, with LOS snaps within the red zone only; I think the defense under Groh could play ok since Virginia under him was a winning team usually, but then again there’s plenty of former D guys who played for Tech who might be better coaches than Groh, like Maxie Baughn was for Tech- Phillipe Claybrooks, Pat Swilling, Marco Coleman, Ron Rogers, Keith Brooking- all those guys would be excellent D coordinators for Tech

Perdoni would be good as the coordinator, he’s younger than Groh; we had some really good LBs at Tech when I went there that would be good, any of them, Bill Flowers, Stan Beavers and Dave Bevin; concerning Bill Flowers, I used to walk on the dry dirt road in the woods named Flowers Road off of Chamblee Tucker Road as a boy; now that road is asphalt, and leads to Mercer of Atl; just so long as Flowers don’t Groh out of a dry dirt road, it will be driveable!

Worried about our D a lot more than theirs. The speed of our offense is pretty overwhelming early in games and early in the season. I worry more that our defense won’t ever get off the field!

For all you shotgun & pass happy offense fans, note that Bammer and the SEC Champion LSU Tigers brought the beatdown out of traditional running formations and used passing formations as a compliment. If the guys up front can’t make lanes or build a wall, it doesn’t matter what formation the backfield starts with.

Thanks Destin Dawg. And you are right. GT needs the win to take control of the division — and UGA needs ALL of their opponents to win as many games as possible to help their strength of schedule, because that coule affect things at the end of the season BCS-wise. Both teams would benefit from the other going undefeated into the November game!!

Not Disappointed!
