It’s unclear how much playing time he’ll see Monday, or this season, for that matter, but B-back Broderick Snoddy has made a distinct impression on his position coach.
“Anytime you can get a guy that can change the game in one snap, that’s huge,” quarterbacks and B-backs coach Brian Bohannon said. “Obviously, we’d like to get him in a position where he can help us.”
Snoddy is a redshirt freshman from Carrollton High and possibly the fastest player on the team. He won the state Class AAA 100- and 200-meter dashes as a junior. Snoddy’s track background is partly why Bohannon figured Snoddy would adapt well to B-back, where the back typically runs up the middle on a straight line. Snoddy had worked at A-back before moving to B-back just after the start of fall camp.
“When he gets into the open field, you can hear all the other guys,” Bohannon said. “They’re like, Oh, there he goes. He’s gone.”
What is holding Snoddy back from the field, besides David Sims and Zach Laskey, is familiarity with the position and quarterback Tevin Washington, with whom he has to develop a comfort level in handling the mesh. Bohannon is not concerned about Snoddy’s size, 5-foot-9 and 190 pounds.
“Broderick’s pretty strong, pretty tough, hard to tackle,” Bohannon said. “I’m not necessarily concerned with that as more I am the other aspects of that position, just learning those.”
Primarily, the challenge is learning to block. Snoddy didn’t have to do much of it at Carrollton.
“So we’re going to keep working him and keep grinding him, because definitely the kid can run, no doubt about that,” Bohannon said.

Marlon Brown is was a 5* recruit at WR for UGA (I use UGA since that is WnE’s team, he’ll understand the example). He has played for 3 years at UGA and has amassed less than 400 career receiving yards. Sounds like a failure at UGA right?!?! Actually I don’t think Marlon Brown is a failure at all. He still has one more year to prove himself. Charles Perkins has only played ONE year (he also RS one year), and he has THREE YEARS left to prove himself. Oh and just FYI, Charles Perkins had 95 rushing yards and 38 receiving yards in his first year at GT. Marlon Brown had 15 receiving yards. So our 3* “failure” of a RB had more RECEIVING yards than UGA’s 5* “failure” of a WR in his first year!
BOOM!! WnE!!! You were just taken to SCHOOL!

Just ignore the UGA trolls that has never even set foot on the UGA campus. They disgust me and I am a UGA alumni.
Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn’t you want a fast running back to try to get the edge and not try to run through the congested middle? Just a little confused on that.

The last 2 yrs. Brown has at least been in the rotation, whereas Perkins cannot even crack any significant PT at B-Back and the HC has moved guys from AB (Broddy Snoddy) & QB (D.Sims) in front of Perkins because Perkins cannot cut it.
He’s 3 years out of HS and he started early and had an “extra” spring practice and he still cannot break a weak depth chart at B-back.
Brown has sat behind 2 NFL guys (Green & Durham 1st & 4th round NFL draft picks) with the chance of more NFL draft picks if Tavarres King goes to the NFL.
Perkins is playing behind guys that have NO SHOT at the NFL and he’s still buried on the B-Back dept chart at #4 going into his 3rd yr. out of HS.
Regardless of how many yrs. Perkins has left if he can’t breakthrough after 3 yrs. out of HS then having the extra eligibility won’t mean anything because he isn’t likely to get better as a 5th yr .Sr.
This is a major flaw in the thinking of the GT fanbase (not WnE of course), just because you RS that doesn’t mean you’ll have more talented players, you’ll simply have OLDER, MEDIOCRE players on your roster, if they weren’t talented out of HS .
Wake Forest employs massive RS-ing and what has it done for them?
NOTHING!
I’d rather have more guys like Dwyer, Burnett, D. Morgan, et al that have talent, hoping that RS-ing will work some sort of miracle for GT FB is a fool’s errand.
Only QBs and linemen need to be RS’d, for obvious reasons, if the other positions are recruited properly then guys should be able to come out of HS and contribute in some way.

tech going 11-1 would be an all out miracle…..tech will be underdogs in half ,if not more times than not. your team simply does not have the number of div 1aa talented players to keep up with the rest of the div 1a teams you guys play.
tech didnt do jack against uga last year..the only reason they had that many yards rushing is because they had the ball more often and longer than uga so they had more chances. you get caught up in the number of rushing yards a game tec has but the real number you need to pay attention to is the yards per carry which was pathetic against uga last year..im all for being a good fan but you have to be really drunk on your teams koolaid to think tech will or even could go 11-1 when you dont have the same type player gaily had here the last time tech went 11-1…

WnE, thanks for again outing yourself as a UGA fan. Kris Durhan was cut, so he is no longer an NFL player. Sorry. Also, I remind you again that this so called failure of a RB (seriously, what kind of idiot thinks that someone can’t succeed after 1 year of playing?!?!?) still had more RECEIVING yards in his first year than UGA’s 5* WR had in his first year.
WnE, you are clearly a small-minded thinker that has no appreciation for vision, the bigger picture or strategic thinking. I have no idea what your chosen career is, but I can already see that you aren’t going far in that. You have shown no interest or appitude in people development, so clearly you would make a poor manager. But beyond that, you seem like someone who would be consumed with your own petty thoughts and concerns to the point that you would provide virtually no strategic value to any organization.

@ atl xmen….. you are full of it. True, Tech didn’t really do that much against the mutts last year, other than yardage. But it was more because Tech didn’t have any defense than anything. The fact of the matter is, Grantham doesn’t have a clue how to stop the Tech offense

____________
It doesn’t matter IF/when Durham is cut, the bottom line is that he was a 4th round draft choice out of college and that makes him a somewhat decent player on the college level.
There’s no shame being on the depth chart behind a future 4th round NFL Draft Pick, but there is plenty of shame being buried on the depth chart behind a guy that that won’t sniff the NFL, especially when you are called the most important Recruit of CPJ’s short tenure and are projected to be BETTER THAN DWYER coming out of HS (projections were made by the CPJ BLTs not by Wrecks of course).
Marlon Brown was never thought to be “better than AJ Green” out of HS, but then again Green was 1st rounder while Dwyer was a 6th rounder and Allen was a 7th rounder, Sims is much LESS than those two, yet Perkins can’t get a sniff.
Your entire Marlon Brown comparison was very weak in an attempt to find a “gotcha Wrecks” moment.
It is clear that you have “Wrecks on the Brain”, meanwhile you have no impact on my thinking at all!

Nice try atl xmen ……. Time of posssesion last season in the GT-UGA game:
UGA: 29:21
GT: 30:39
WOW! GT had the ball a whole 1 minute 18 seconds “more often and longer” than UGA
Drive summuries:
UGA: 10 drives
GT: 11 drives
WOW! GT had 1 more drive than UGA did.
1:18, b/c GT runs the ball so much, equates to about 3 snaps.

Well, my work here is done with WnE anyway. atlxmen, I’ll just cite one more stat that blows what he said out of the water. GT averaged 4.6 ypc in the UGA game last year, which I’ll admit was below the season average and a good job by a solid UGA defense. It was also the EXACT same number that UGA averaged against GT. So far from not doing “jack” as you say, it was the exact same number that UGA itself averaged rushing the ball. Just for reference, Florida averaged -0.9 ypc against UGA, 2.0 ypc for Auburn, and -0.9 for Tennessee. Yes, I realize GT is a primarily a rushing team, BUT the numbers I cited above for the SEC teams are “not doing jack” rushing the ball. Whereas 4.6 ypc that’s an ok number.
GTfan2012

I will caveat that to say that 4.6 ypc was obviously not good enough, because we lost the game soundly. And all credit goes to a solid UGA defense. But we did have some success moving the ball.

Sorry Bishop, you can disown him if you want, but I have plenty of proof that he’s a UGA fan. Like the time he assured the readers of these comments that Orson Charles’ 40 time from his pro day was just an anomoly and that he would certainly run faster. Then there was the time that he claimed that UGA recruited Stephen Hill even before they recruited Marlon Brown just to make it seem like UGA hadn’t totally whiffed on Marlon Brown as compared to high round NFL pick Stephen Hill. That was a total lie, as UGA recruited 5* Marlon Brown from his late in his Sophomore year in HS on. I could go on, but I’ll stop there… he’s yours no matter how much you don’t want him.

A note to all of you Yellow Jackets out there:
I am now president of the Athens chapter of the Paul Johnson Fan Club.
You would not believe how the club is growing. We had to move the meetings from the IHOP to the Western Sizzlin because of the crowds.
We love Paul Johson in Athens. Don’t you guys ever fire him.
Ignor the fact that he cannot recruit at the 1A level. I mean face it, ever since Chan Gaileys players left, the only decent guys you have had are the ones that transferred in because they wanted to be closer to home – or were run off by their origional schools.
Yep, Paul Johnson will soon have Tech as the strongest 1AA team in America. You might even venture to schedule Georgia Southern without the fear of being beat.
We sort of look at Paul Johnson as the coaching equivalent of Reggie Ball at Tech. And you know how much we revere Reggie.
Reggie!!! Reggie!! Reggie!!
So you guys take good care of Paul Johnson because we want him in Atlanta for a loooong time.
Sincerely, your fellow Paul Johnson fans in Athens.
