Saint Mary’s, Xavier, and Cal are all good teams. It’ll be a good early test for the Basketball team in this upcoming season, and for Robert Carter in the middle of that lineup. Go Jackets!

It’s not unreasonable for us to expect a win at this tournament. Xavier and Cal are 2nd tier good teams and this should tell us what kind of season we are going to have.

GT basketball looks to be moving back in the right direction. Thanks to the players and coaches for the hard work this summer.

Looks like Rice, Cal, Xaiver. Not bad for the RPI. Can’t wait to see Hunt, Carter and Bolden added to the nucleus CBG has in place.

I remember when Rice came to BD Stadium in about 1971 to play a football game. Coach Carson evidently had all the players look conservative and get haircuts and be clean shaven. However, Rice players all had long hair and beards and mustaches in the playbook photos, a popular style in the early 70’s. Rice gave Tech a whippin’ that sunny Saturday afternoon. Wonder how the basketball game will be this Thanksgiving?

@dry dirt road… That is not the way I remember that game going at all. That game ended in a tie in the only game I ever saw Rice and Tech play in football. That was a game that featured the first Black Quarterback Tech ever had and Jimmy Robinson , a hall of fame receiver for Tech. After getting way behind by 21 or more points, Tech rallied and tied the game at the end. I remember being thrilled just getting a tie as that game ended.

One other thing, did you leave the game early? That might explain why you thought Tech got a whipping. lol

Good thing this is about basketball. I believe 40 years later Tech will give Rice a run for their money regardless of haircuts and beards. It’s hard to believe hair growth played a role in competition back then but it was the “flower power” people. No slight, just hard for me to grasp. Here’s to winning with or without hair. Go Jackets!
