Georgia Tech win sets up re-match with Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Georgia Tech took care of business Sunday afternoon, eliminating College of Charleston in a 3-0 victory to set up a re-match with Florida at 6 p.m.

Designated hitter Zane Evans broke a scoreless tie with two out in the top of the sixth when he lifted a fly to left center that Cougars center fielder Marty Gantt lost track of. The ball fell safely, scoring Brandon Thomas from second.

Connor Lynch added two insurance runs in the top of the ninth with his first home run of the season for a 3-0 lead.

Alex Cruz, in his first start of the season, gave the Jackets six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and not letting a base runner past second base. He gave way to Evans, who finished the shutout by retiring nine of the 10 batters he faced. Evans has not allowed a run in the past 7 1/3 innings.

I would love to see the Jackets take 2 from the Gators but, man, it’s going to a tough row to hoe!

if we could only get rid of the Gator umpires as well as the 2 thousand amatuer umpires in the stands, we could have more than an even chance!

On here now too, OJF. Maybe losing last night was good for us. After all, that would have been the 8th win in a row, if it had happened, and that’s not easy. We’re now back to needing 3 in a row.

SS I know what you mean but it would have been sweet to only have to win 1 as opposed to 2. If they pull that off it would shock a bunch of folks!

What a great move it was to give Cruz the start.
Just think what the Hall-haters would have done with it had he pitched poorly.
Now I play fantasy sports which some of u folks who love to second guess need to do.
In a close match in a league where I know my fellow competitors, I started Hanson today for my team.
After 2 batters and two homeruns, I was kicking myself thinking I had jeopardized my lead in a number of stats.
I was thinking of posting what an idiot I was on the league’s board.
Now that he has pitched well, maybe I go on there and say “Robert you’re a damn genius”.
That’s why u need to play fantasy sports.
You’ll find out how easy it is to make a mistake.
And why sometimes u need to wait a bit before losing it as so many on these boards do with every play.
In conclusion, as long as GT keeps beating Uga, Hall is fine with me as the coach.
And u sure can’t knock him for not giving a damn.

Robert, I’m not a Hall HATER, but there have been MANY times when I have been down on him. But the call to pitch whoever it was on Friday and to pitch Cruz this afternoon were both brilliant calls

OJF I like it. You may be right about position. He could put on weight, but he would need to add at least 20#–Abraham plays at 6′5″ 255#–that’s a lotta time with the weights–& do wind sprints with that harness with 3 or 4 drag chutes behind him to keep his speed or even improve it. Should be a good size for strong side OLB–could even add 10#, which he probably will. But you know gollum will say we can’t get the ELITE RECRUITS. Chuckle chuckle

Our baseball team has it’s work cut out tonight. We face the gators ace and a kid who will be a 1st round draft pick in the mlb draft. Their pitching staff is deep and their is no doubt that they are worthy of their #1 ranking. Gators have some good sticks in the lineup as well.

Maybe we can pull the upset and let it all hang out monday for a trip to the super regionals! Go jackets!!!!

1 4, I’ve been over on MC’s sheet about Robbins. He’s 240 now and playes TE in his high school as well as DE. His film shows him to be athletic and he will play at a OLB for his senior year. This class is shaping up very nicely.

Super it’s Biff and a few others I am thinking about.
Not u.
I am not against all criticism.
I did not like CPJ’s move to call a timeout when Uga attempted a FG before the half that they missed.
With his TO and a 2nd chance, they made it.
CPJ removed the need to yell to harrass the FG kicker.
Why attend if he is going to do that?
But I am still on CPJ’s side and think he has been good for GT.
I think the future is looking better and better.
I just don’t like the folks who can’t wait to jump on a mistake.
Is Biff really the ex-Braves catcher or is he borrowing the name like many do?

HATERS………..hear me………..Johnson’s Offense will get TeCH a shot at the ACC CG every year. GT needs D. If we get better D the sky is the limit. Groh can get them a shot at the NFL and an Education to boot. TECH with a good D is KING of the ACC and in BSC/whatever in the future Game.

Super you STALKER is back? HAHAHAH was a PUZZZ

I lightheartedly criticized those during the ACC championship who wanted a two inning ten run lead and game over.
Better for the future to have to hold a lead and rebuild it.
I used to think that was why the Colts did so poorly in the playoffs.
They had too many blowout wins and not enough prep for the tight games they would face in the playoffs.

I hope Tevin Washington watches what he did right against Clemson all summer. He threw the ball better that night than he did all year. He had to be using good technique.
I really want a win vs VT.

5150, I hate that the good Reggie did is forgotten because, like his coach, he did not beat Uga.
He did some good things including starting the 4 game win streak vs Miami and a 39-28 defeat of VT there that the refs prevented from being a beatdown. VT likes to hand out the beatdowns but can’t handle it when they have one coming.

From the rule that ESPN put on the TV screen, the ump should never have called timeout. The ump made a bonehead call.
