Georgia Tech takes ACC baseball title
It wasn’t quite worst to first, but you could call it eight to great.
In a season in which it was frittered with injuries and a berth in the eight-team ACC baseball tournament was anything but a given, the Georgia Tech baseball team capped an unlikely run to its eighth ACC championship with an 8-5 defeat of Miami Sunday afternoon in Greensboro, N.C. They became the first No. 8 seed to win the tournament.
The Jackets, who earned the eighth and lowest seed in the tournament with a win over the same Hurricanes on the final day of the regular season, continued their pummeling of ACC pitching. Tech cranked out 15 hits, including base hits from five of the first six hitters to go to the plate in the first inning (the sixth was a walk). The Jackets took a 4-0 lead in the first half of the inning and led the entire way.
Josh Heddinger, Jarrett Didtrick and Zane Evans held off the Hurricanes, limiting them to five hits, all singles. Evans also went 2-for-6 with 3 RBI. Tech hit .331 over the four games in the tournament, which began with a Wednesday win over Florida State, the top seed and the top-ranked team in the country. Jake Davies, who hit four home runs in the first three games, went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI.
The championship is the fourth for coach Danny Hall and first since 2005. Tech was just the third No. 8 seed to reach the final in ACC tournament history.
The Jackets, who were on the NCAA tournament bubble prior to the tournament, have removed all doubt by earning the ACC’s automatic bid. They will learn where they’ll begin NCAA play Monday at noon. The selection show will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Actually Supersize is probably flattered by your obsession with him. Last thing at night and first thing in the morning, you post under different names, when it’s obvious to everybody that there’s just one of you making those stupid remarks. You don’t know Supersize or anything about him, but it’s pretty clear that he has gotten under your skin—-probably by getting you banned trying to make posts under his name. Just wanted to get an early take on the 2012 season for Tech.
Ill be back when Vegas posts the over under for Tech in wins. Tech covered last year.
1. Va Tech ( Loss ) CPJ is 0 for the last 6 vs Va Tech UGA and the bowl game. 2 – 10 all time. These are the games he loses.
2. Presbyterian Blue Hose ( Win ) There will be plenty of leftover hot dogs. Stadium half full at best.
3. Virginia ( Win ) Could go either way.
4. Miami ( Loss )
5. Middle Tenn ( Win ) Yawn
6. Clemson ( Loss ) in Death Valley. Tech finds a way to lose this one.
7. B.C. ( Win )
8. BYU ( Win )
9. Maryland ( Win )
10. N.C. ( Loss )
11. Duke ( Win )
12 UGA ( Loss ) This will make 5 in a row since CPJ’s one fluke win in the series. What happened the the ” New Sheriff in Town?”
13 Bowl Game ( Loss ) Tech always loses the bowl game. CPJ hasn’t changed that. The extra prep time for the gimmick offense makes it harder for Tech as well.
There you have it. 7 – 5 for Tech with a loss in bowl game to round it out at 7 – 6
Sounds about right. What say you ?

UOAD…..I’ve gotten where I sort of enjoy the game. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment. At any rate, I am out for dinner now. I won’t be back at all tonight unless there’s some kind of breaking news or an interesting exchange of ideas going on. Don’t be fooled by the fakers. Seek some kind of proof if you are unsure.

The key to this baseball season was that we were not ranked in the top 10 to start the season, so we could just out and play baseball. (my opinion). Now lets get them in the regionals.

Tech has the ability to win a few in the CWS. However; they have to maintain their level of play. From what I’ve seen they can be very Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde – ish. If that is a word…lol But, they can beat anyone in the nation, to only turn around and lose to anyone. Danny Hall is a great coach. But, his coaching ability isn’t enough to win all the games needed. Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud that they won the ACC tourney. But, I just don’t see them winning the CWS. I really hope they prove me wrong.
As for the football team. Seems a lot of folks are predicting 7-5. I don’t know about that. I think they might surprise a few people. I think they might got 9-3. However; I truly don’t foresee them beating the doggies this year. UGA has a damned good QB and I just don’t see the defense shutting him down. But, we do play VT early and that may be a benefit towards us. So, I am going to go out on a limb and predict 9 wins by the Jackets. Just a shame some folk determine the season based on the GT-UGA game. With UGA’s cupcake schedule, if they don’t win 10 or more games, there is something seriously wrong. Again, I hope GT proves me wrong, but UGA is just too strong this year.
