Busy week for Roddy Jones
An interesting week for former Georgia Tech A-back Roddy Jones. Wednesday night, he was at the Fox Theatre as a finalist for the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup. Thursday morning, he’ll be a guest host on 790 the Zone’s Barnhart & Durham show. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, he plans to be in WREK’s broadcast booth for the Georgia Tech baseball team’s games at Russ Chandler Stadium. He’s also got his MBA classes. And then he’s hoping to get a phone call from one of 32 NFL teams telling him they want his services.
“I’m excited about what this weekend’s going to hold for me,” Jones said prior to Wednesday’s awards ceremony.
To answer the first question, Jones did not win the award, created to honor a sports professional and a student-athlete for their character, leadership on and off the field and contribution to sport and society. The winner was Aleca Hughes, a former Yale ice hockey player who started a foundation to honor a teammate who had died from leukemia.
“This is probably at the top,” Jones said, referring to the list of honors he has received. “It’s a national award named after Coach John Wooden, which is an honor in itself. Coach (Vince) Dooley being here (as chair of the selection committee) and all the different finalists from different places, it’s definitely an honor.”
Former Tennessee coach Pat Summitt was also on hand to receive the professional Wooden Citizenship Cup. Coach Paul Johnson, A-backs coach Lamar Owens and team chaplain Derrick Moore joined Jones’ family in support of him.
As for the draft, Jones said he had received phone calls from a few teams to confirm his health and to make sure they had the right phone number for the draft weekend, a good sign.
“Even if they’re just calling to get my cell phone number, it means they want it,” he said.
Jones’ likely route to the NFL is as an undrafted free agent, a path many Tech players have taken to reach the league. That would most likely happen Saturday afternoon after the seven rounds of the draft conclude.

I never mention any of you guys in a unsolicited fashion, yet you do it to me all the time and in a smarmy, unprovoked, cheap-shot kinda way.
I only name call after others name call me first, I only get personal after others take shots at me.
What I do, is analyze GT FB in a completely non-homer, non-BLT way, and for that I get ad hominem drivel from the majority of you guys.
Before I got banned from the GT-themed Message Boards, my in-box was always full (15-20 PMs) from other posters that agreed with the things I had to say about CPJ, but they admitted to me in private PMs that they were scared of being banned by the moderator/owner.
All the GT’s message boards are full of GT fans that don’t have a lot of confidence in CPJ, but they are too scared of being banned and are too scared of the backlash from the vocal minority that “pretend” that they are satisfied with CPJ.
Many GT fans pretend to like CPJ so as not to give “any ammo” to their Mutt Neighbors & Mutt co-workers to be used against them in CFB debates.
I am willing to bet that my feelings about CPJ & GT FB are in-line with 35-40% of the GT fanbase, but many are too timid to publicly admit how they feel about CPJ.
This is one reason that attendance is dwindling despite “so much on-field success” from GT FB under CPJ.

TheHive.com is full of dissenters. Many of whom think the TO offense hurts us in recruiting, or that the Hill’s academic pull on the GTAA is too strong, or that the uniforms are terrible (which they are).
Many disagree with these ideas, but at least the forum exists to discuss these ideas without fear of retaliation or banishment. We don’t object to your analysis as long as you can back it up. Often times, it’s nothing more than the same stale, regurgitated drivel that people use to criticize CPJ…and we’ll call you on it if you can’t back it up.
If you’re going to make an opinion, have it grounded in fact…

@ 75…..during recruiting season 2 years ago, WnE cyber-stalked Vad Lee on Twitter, telling how bad a decision it would be on his part to come to Tech. He doesn’t like Johnson because of his offense, and yet he doesn’t want somebody who might improve that offense to come to Tech. Go figure. He’s just a POS.

I was in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl in 2002, ( back in my drinking days) I saw a bar around Bourbon St that said 99cent draft beers. I told my dad and brother n law this round is on me. I went full speed into that bar and by the time I got to the bartender I noticed every one had on chaps and leather vest. I looked at the bartender and said ” three bud lights, to go”.

That’s alot LESS than the guys on Stinktalk send to guys on GT’s Team on Facebook, etc.
In summary,no I didn’t stalk anyone, I merely asked him about some of his comments that he put on twitter.
In today’s era of Social Media, 12 messages less than 140 characters is hardly stalking anyone, especially when you’re talking about CFB.
The whole thing is over-blown by a bunch weasely, pissant, douchebag GT fans to try to hurt my credibility as I give LEGIT & ACCURATE commentary about CPJ’s failures as a BCS-Level HC!
Those twitter message are 16+ months old and yet the douchebag brigade around here keeps bringing them up every time I post .
Whenever CPJ signs a crappy Recruiting class or FAILS to discipline Drummond harshly enough, the douchebags bring up old twitter messages.
