Greetings
Some notes from post-practice interviews Wednesday.
1. Quarterback Synjyn Days may not play Friday night in the spring scrimmage. Days injured his left wrist on the final play of practice Wednesday. Days and fellow backup Vad Lee had been receiving most of the practice reps and were slated to get most of them in the scrimmage.
Coach Paul Johnson was not specific regarding how Days’ snaps will be allocated if he can’t play. It could be more for Tevin Washington or for early enrollee Dennis Andrews or walk-on transfer Tim Byerly, or all three, as well as walk-on Darryl Dickey.
“As far as the game goes, it’s not a concern as much as it is he’s made a lot of progress this spring,” Johnson said. “You’d like to see him have a chance to play.”
2. Guard Shaquille Mason may not play either with an undisclosed injury. It was hoped he would return for Wednesday’s practice, but he didn’t participate. That would leave the offensive line with 10 available bodies for Friday, including walk-ons. If someone gets hurt Friday, the likely option would be to flip-flop players from team to team.
3. Johnson on inside linebacker Jabari Hunt-Days: “I think he’s had a good camp, a good spring. I think he’s improved, I think he’s worked hard. He’s doing some good things.”
On the likelihood he’ll see playing time in the fall: “Oh, yeah, definitely. He’s going to have to. He’s going to play.”
4. Asked if any A-backs had made progress closing the gap with Robert Godhigh, who has been the top performing A-back in the spring with Orwin Smith out, Johnson said “I think Deon Hill’s done some good things.”
Johnson also mentioned Tony Zenon and B.J. Bostic but said there’s not a lot of separation.
5. Wide receiver Jeremy Moore has pushed his way into the first group, splitting reps with Jeff Greene and Chris Jackson.
“He’s probably been the most consistent, probably had the least amount of efforts and played hard,” Johnson said. “He’s made some catches. He’s done some good things, made some plays.”
Efforts are demerits for not giving full effort on a play.
“I think you’ve got Jeff and Darren (Waller) and Chris and Jeremy competing and we’ll see how it comes out,” Johnson said. “They’ve all got to learn to play harder.”
6. The most improved player on defense? Johnson said several players have improved and added that “(defensive end) Anthony Williams has caught my eye.”
7. Asked the same question, Washington said named outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu, inside linebacker Quayshawn Nealy, nose tackle T.J. Barnes and also the secondary.
“I think those guys are a lot hungrier this year, more physical with our receivers,” he said. “Those guys come out and just compete every day, try to make plays on the ball, put the defense in a position where they feel like nobody can come out and throw on them.”
“Jeremiah, he’s always 100 miles an hour,” Washington said. “Sometimes you want to tell him to slow down. … He’s got a high motor. He’s always going.”
Washington said Barnes’ focus and attention to detail have improved.
“As far as with the defensive line, if they’ve got a stunt on, he’s making sure he’s in the right gap, making sure he’s doing his job, just trying to take a lot of personal responsibility for what he has to do.”
8. In case you weren’t aware, the spring game is Friday at 7:45 p.m. Free to the public. Parking information here.
Thanks for reading. I’ll have another post up later this morning.
Hope you all can make it out to the spring game Friday night.

@ George……..I know that looking at the overall picture, this is a a moot point, but don’t you wonder what truth seller was listening to yestahday in that courtroom? Granted, in principle, what he said on the blog last night was correct, but he definitely didn’t get the facts right. If he is some kind of reporter, then he sure gave an at least partially incorrect report on what was done.

CPJ needs to boot Drummond out of “The Program”.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsFBYq_h_J0
Here’s why:
When Muttville had that LB that tried to hide the criminal charges that he had in another State (Md.); when CMR finally found out that the SA tried to HIDE the Criminal Charges, he was then booted from the Mutt FB team.
Daniel “Lattimer” Drummond already lost 1 yr. of playing due to an NCAA Suspension, and then he tried to HIDE THIS INCIDENT from the GTAA , the incident occurred LAST JULY, that would be July 2011 before last season.
The attempt at DECEPTION by a SA that had already suffered a SERIOUS 1-year punishment from the NCAA should be enough for CPJ to boot him off the team and out of GT’s FB Program.
Anything less than dismissal from GT’s FB program by CPJ means that GT’s smug, elitist segment of the GT fanbase can no longer talk about the “Factorties” and how they discipline their SAs.
Either CPJ is lying that GT didn’t know until now, after he finally pled guilty or the SA tried to hide the charges.
Both scenarios look bad for GT, one the SA needs to get booted for his attempt at deception or the the HC has tried to hide an incident involving a SA from the Media.
GT fans no longer have the “moral high ground” to stand on anymore.
My simple question is how can the the local beat reporters that follow GT Sports not find out about an incident that happened last JULY, even without a conviction or Plea the CHARGES are still public information.
This kind of stuff makes intelligent CFB fans wonder, “what else is CPJ hiding from the Media”?
An ugly trend is starting to develop under CPJ’s “watch”, the AD preps him for NCAA investigators defying specific instructions from said Investigators, and Asst. Coach is caught sending out illegal Text messages and has to be canned, and now we find that either the FB player or the HC has tried to hide criminal charges from the GT FB community.
There was also an incident that CPJ “covered up” where a starting OLB in either 2009 or 2010 beat up a student on campus and his 2-game suspension was “masked” by CPJ as an “undisclosed injury”.
If we at GT are going to have a HC with “SEC caliber ethics” then we should at least get an SEC quality product on the field (LSU, Arky, Bama, or Auburn-2011).
CPJ ins’t the saint that many of his BLTs have made him out to be!

All I can think of here is that a lot of kids go with their parents to Lake Lanier during the summer, and Drummond was so selfish that he would risk harming those people. This whole thing angers me to no end.

Super Size, I’m NOT talking about Robert Hall, the public found out about that, Hall was a DE.
This was an OLB, that beat up a student in some sort of altercation, this was no domestic violence situation involving a BF-GF.
I go back and look at an old roster and see if I can come up with a name.
This wasn’t Robert Hall smacking his GF around in a small apartment where all of Hall’s FB player-roommates-teammates claimed that they didn’t see or hear anything when questioned by the Atlanta Police.

C’mon FLJ!
GT already has a less serious punishment cycle following a positive drug test than does UGA, do you want GT to also have a less strict punishment for a FB player trying to hide criminal charges from his HC.
When the UGA LB that hid the charges from another State was found out he was booted from the Team and yet you want GT to only suspend for 2 to 4 games from a “repeat offender”?
You sound like the Arky Fans that wanted to give Petrino a 2nd chance.
Do you want GT to become a “win at all costs” FB factory?
