Greetings
A few spring practice notes, from an interview with offensive line coach Mike Sewak:
1. I’ve noted this before, but injuries have been a negative/positive this spring. Having Omoregie Uzzi and Will Jackson out has given players like Nick McRae and J.C. Lanier more reps than they would have gotten otherwise, but it has also forced coach Mike Sewak to shuffle players more than he probably would like.
Injuries to Lanier and Shaquille Mason in Saturday’s scrimmage left the line with seven of the 12 scholarship offensive linemen in the scrimmage.
2. Tackle Morgan Bailey, until an injury last week, was shaping up as one of the most improved players on the team. Bailey, a rising redshirt sophomore, has plus athletic ability but has had injury challenges since he arrived at Tech. He was putting things together this spring. Not sure if he’ll be able to come back this week.
“He seems to be enjoying the playing time and seems to be enjoying the camaraderie and seems to be enjoying the leadership role he’s taking in that meeting room now, because I can point to him and say, ‘That’s how it’s supposed to be done,’” Sewak said.
3. Bailey’s health could be a crucial factor this fall. Sewak wants three dependable players at that position; you’ll remember there was a three-tackle rotation last season. Tech has two returning starters in Ray Beno and Tyler Kidney, but after that are rising redshirt freshmen Bryan Chamberlain and Errin Joe, who haven’t made the progress Sewak was hoping for this spring. The loss of Phil Smith was not insignificant, obviously.
4. Guard is the most secure position as spring ends, with returning starters Uzzi and Jackson and rising sophomore Mason, who ended the season splitting snaps with Jackson and acquitting himself well. Trey Braun is coming on.
5. The project to make Catlin Alford a center continues. There were more center-quarterback exchange snafus on Saturday, although it’s hard to pin on one player or position. To a degree, it’s a function of different players at both positions rotating in and out.
McRae, you may remember, was the backup last season at center and started against Clemson in place of Jay Finch.
“I’d like to see [McRae] continue to develop there, too, but Catlin Alford is too good of an athlete not to be playing,” Sewak said.
Sewak wants a little more from Finch.
“I’ve been pleased with his effort at times,” he said. “Obviously, his off-the-field willingness to put the extra time, to understand it, I think has benefited him.”
6. The Tech defense is working on some different things, which has been a benefit to the offense when th e units have gone against each other.
“We are getting a bunch of twists and blitzes, which helps us,” Sewak said. “We are getting some even front (4-4), which helps us, too, because we see a lot of even front in the fall.”
Notably, Virginia Tech is one of the teams that typically plays an even front against Tech.
In case you missed it, a couple stories I wrote for the weekend, one on Tech’s internship program for its athletes and the notebook from Saturday’s scrimmage. Both are longer than the print version. Thanks for reading.

I am afraid I am here too little on the defense and this is a bad thing!! My canine gut feel is the Tech Defense has most likley taken a step or two back. It would mostlikey benefit Tech to go to a 40 look up front as well. They have serious personell issues on the Defensive front to be playing a 3-4 with a Nose guard.
I see a 6 maybe a 7 win season at best due to poor defnesive front play..
Yall Bring Giff Smith and Tenuta back and yall could be a force to be rekond with

The dwags need not concern themselves with our defense…
Losing Burnett hurt, but we are stacked at linebacker. Jeremiah Attaochu will be All-ACC (at least).
Our D-line play will improve as well, though it probably is the weak link right now. We finally have some physical, experienced players.
The secondary will be an excellent group. Louis Young is the best corner you haven’t heard of. Sweeting is also really underrated. Jemea Thomas, Isaiah Johnson, Fred Holton coming back. I think (and hope) this is the strength of the entire team.
If our D can be just average yardage wise, but cause turnovers, this could be a really special year.
I think we will be.

Our recruiting is good enough to do what we need to do…I don’t care who you put at Tech, we won’t be pulling in Top 5/Top 10 classes.
The problem has been lack of experience in the defense. This year, we’ll have a lot more upperclassmen on the D — with now three years of experience in this defense.
I’m not going to say we’ll have a great D. I think we might, but of course I can’t be sure.
I am going to say that they’ll surprise a lot of people this year (including a few people who insist on posting here).

We’re switching to a one-gap style in the 3-4, so there is some significant scheme adjustment the players need to learn. It’ll be an asset for this year since we still don’t have a behemoth at NT ho can be dominant enough to let us go to a two-gap. So, while the kids have had 3 years in Groh’s defense they are still learning some new stuff for this season.

O-line was a liability last year but they were young and inexperienced. I hope what you foresee comes true, BigTime. I don’t see it but hopefully Sewak is poor mouthing to get these guys to perform.

Tenuta did a great job? Are you serious? Tenuta did a great job one week, then the next we gave up 40 points. There was nothing consistent about John Tenuta.
As for Giff Smith, yeah he brought in some studs SOME years…but overall he didn’t bring in consistently good athletes like McCollum has. I don’t think bringing back Giff Smith helps our recruiting out a whole lot, to be honest with you.

I read that Sweeting played some safety on Saturday. Can you look into why they’re moving our best cover corner from his natural position? He’s the only other defender besides Julian Burnett to receive All-ACC honors. We don’t have too many of those type of defenders right now on the roster.

@ FLJ……I am in COMPLETE agreement with you regarding Tenuta. His defenses looked spectacular at times, but more often than not, they looked average at best, and sometimes downright awful. Guys need to remember that his defense was almost completely responsible for one loss at UVA, and didn’t contribute much to the other loss up there. The players on Tenuta’s defenses looked like they performed only when they WANTED to—-no discipline whatsoever

@Million Dollar Man – sweet name and you’re right. We don’t need a great defense. We need a slightly average defense that plays well on third downs. If you look at total years of experience in the system, we’re much better off than last year. CAG has always said it’s a three year process.
@ GTfan, probably because he knocks the crap out of people and/or we’re looking at more blitzing this year, which would mean more cover skills needed at the safety spot.

Jamal Golden and Jemea Thomas are also excellent cover guys…and Isaiah Johnson routinely gets beaten in one-on-one coverage situations…so if a Safety tandem of Fred Holton and Rod Sweeting allows us to better matchup against TE’s and deeper routes while also providing physical run support…I’m all for it.

300 yds on the ground and 180 by air each week, a special teams that does better than average (e.g. doesn’t lose or set up losses) and a D that will bend but make critical 3rd down stops and we’re 10+ wins and in the ACC champ game. Sounds like a lot, but we’re really not too far off.

Like how Ken reports as opposed to Chip at UGA, Chip is fine but he gets to overly enthusiastic. Like Spring game report how back-ups played so well, used example where backup defender caused fumble. Yet it was a backup QB that fumbled the ball.
Tech reports seem more real, does not give all credit to defense when Tech QB’s fumble, but states that as concern about QB play.

Spring practice is a teaching and evaluation period and people shouldn’t read too much into what’s being written about the personnel “issues”. New offensive and defensive schemes are being installed and players who haven’t had much playing time are getting a ton of reps so, naturally, issues will be occuring.
I can tell you several players have really caught the coaches eyes, like Jabari Hunt-Days, who will be hard to keep off the field. He has been an absolute terror this spring and with his size, speed, and strength, he can create havoc and make a huge impact for the defense. Fred Horton is back and is showing the injury won’t slow him down, so the defensive backfield is going to be tremendous. Synjyn Days is electric with the ball in his hands and has to see the field; perhaps even as an A-Back, where he’s being cross trained. And Vad Lee has shown that he is the real deal passing the ball and even making terrific runs and improving his option reads. The offense is working on some the Urban Meyer spread option offense (think Tim Tebow/Percy Harvin), and Vad really seems to excel in this formation.

OL might be the deepest, most experienced unit on the field.
Uzzi, Finch, and Jackson on the interior are solid, as are their regular backups (Mason, McRae, Braun). I’m worried about Tackle because those guys do a lot of scooping on LBs to cut off the backside, but then they also have to pass protect against the other teams best pass rusher. That’s why we need a guy like Morgan Bailey healthy…

To show y’all how much worse it is for Tech fans in Augusta, one of the local TV stations had crews in Athens, Columbia, and Clemson Saturday for those three spring games. I sent a Facebook message to that station Saturday night asking if they were going to provide equivalent coverage for the Tech Spring game Friday. I just got a response from them apologizing for not having had any coverage of the Ga Southern Spring game, which I didn’t even mention in my post to them. The fact that they were apparently unable even to read what I sent them doesn’t give me much hope for coverage in Augusta of T-Night. Sadly, that doesn’t surprise me, since Tech gets virtually ZERO coverage here. To further indicate how bad it is here, Jason Morris, on the basketball team, is from Augusta, and not once have any of the local media given him any (ANY) coverage. SICKENING !!!!

Reasons for optimism heading into the season:
1. More seasoned 2-deep offensive line, plus a decent recruiting class
2. More mature team overall means improved strength and understanding of system.
3. An entire defense with 3 years in the system.
4. VT first game of the year (many analysts agree that this is pro-GT because defending the option is hard enough when you’re in mid-season form, much less right out of the chute)
Frankly, I can’t understand the doom and gloom of many people on this blog. We were LITERALLY three plays away from 11-2 last year (helmet punch, holding on a 60 yd TD at UVA, and a miffed punt return inside the 5). I think the more experienced team on the field this year can avoid those mistakes and produce more wins. Also, if we can make it out of September in good shape, the schedule lines up nicely.

4. VT first game of the year (many analysts agree that this is pro-GT because defending the option is hard enough when you’re in mid-season form, much less right out of the chute)”
Tokyo…
I also think this is a benefit seeing them earlier int he year. VT has to replace David Wilson, Danny Coale, and will have an more inexperienced team this year compared to 2011. Our offense wasn’t the problem last year against VT…although in the 4th quarter our pass protection decided to take a quarter off and Tevin couldn’t find the open receiver on the blitz.
Our defense didn’t have to let them score 37 though…

thanks for the comments. a few answers, as best i can attempt.
I don’t know if Johnson and Smith still keep in touch. i’m speculating, but i’d think as long as chan gailey is with buffalo, smith is not going anywhere.
george – the defense has been changing things up, going from a two-gap defense where the defensive linemen “hold the point” to let linebackers run free to a one-gap style where the linemen are also in a playmaking capacity, as was mentioned.
i don’t know concretely the reason for the shotgun stuff, but i’d think it was partly having offensive linemen back and also two quarterbacks (synjyn days and vad lee) who have skills that can use it well. (not to say that tevin washington can’t.
high tech – at this point, i’d think it’d be godhigh and smith. i don’t know the degree of separation bewteen godhigh and guys like deon hill or b.j. bostic, but i imagine it’d be hard for them to match godhigh’s consistency.
Juvenal – i’ve heard your shotgun pleas. i’ve been wondering where you’ve been.
thanks for all the kind words. it’s trite to say, but it means a lot and is encouraging.
as for “redneck,” i’ll be honest with you. i put that word and “nerd” into the list of words that get caught in the filter last november because, and i realize this is painting with a broad brush, it’s generally not adding to the discussion. if you’ve got a problem with it, let me have it. i’m sure you can point out all kinds of inconsistencies in the way i monitor the blog.

I’m convinced that while half of college football is physical, the other 99% is mental (how else can you explain us losing to UGA when we’ve got a better team and UGA losing to UF when they’ve got the better team?). IF (big word) we beat VT, I see no one on our schedule that we can’t beat; not saying we won’t lose, just that we would have to be the favorite in the ACCC. If Ken is still here, you’ve got a tough row to hoe. I recall you visiting your Father in Chicago, so I guess that area is “home”. The Mason-Dixon line isn’t really what separates North from South. That line really is the 36′30″ parallel…which separates NC from VA, TN from KY, and AR from MO.
Of course, I have boiled it down that the true delineation of North and South is a fictitious line called the “Sweet Tea line”…which isn’t a line per se, but more of a curvy snaking line. For example, I found out thru my travels that they stop serving good honest “sweet tea” north of Richmond, VA…and to the south they stop serving it here below Gainesville, FL.

Think of it more like a “Sweet Tea zone”. They serve it as a staple beverage as far west as Texas, as far north as the Ohio River (includes Kentucky) as well as WV and Richmond, VA, as far south as North Florida…and of course all the way to the Atlantic on the east side.

FLJ–I know & understand both lines/zones. As for sweet tea, you are basically correct, just don’t expect sweet tea too far into Texas. The further west you go in Texas, the harder it is to get sweet tea served. And iced tea—the same zone generally applies here too. You are lucky to get one inch of ice in a large glass. The southern definition of tea (dinner on the grounds style like my Mama made)—-tea so strong & dark a sunbeam has to go around the pitcher—so sweet it’s a hell of a death for a slice of lemon—enough ice to just barely qualify as unfrozen.

True country fried steak prepared by my Mama and all Southern ladies that ever served that dish to me started at the meat counter in their local grocery store–a nice piece of round steak, enough for the men to have 2 helpings and the ladies and young’uns to have a nice portion as well–cut into generous portions–soak it in “sweet” milk or buttermilk–salt & pepper–generous coating of flour–fry it up in a hot black iron skillet with about 1/4 inch oil–make sawmill gravy from the cracklings with flour, milk & water to thickness desired–it’s kinda tan in color–I left out asking the butcher to run you meat selection thru a cubing machine–if it is fixed properly, you won’t need a knife–big pan full of hot buttermilk biscuits–HMMM

We all know you hate CPJ and CAG and the offense, defense, special teams, recruiting, etc. The reality is if CPJ does not succeed Tech will find a new coach. Regardless of your opinions Tech will still field a team this year and years to come. You should try and be a little positive once in a while. Blessings to you and may you find some peace.

@ WnE…….are you serious? Can you honestly say that Tenuta coached good defense against UVA ANY YEAR we played them. Do you remember the SURE win we had in C’ville, having taken the game in charge, only for his lousy, unmotivated defense to collapse and TOTALLY BLOW it in the 4th quarter? You are more stupid a putz than I realized if you think Tenuta EVER coached a CONSISTENTLY PERFORMING defense.

Surely you don’t mean this year?
As for Tenuta, his schemes worked against bad QB’s but not good ones who could recognize a blitz. I got pretty sick of all the RB dump-offs that went for 30 yards because he dropped 8 guys back…or the screen passes that went for 50 yards because he sent 7 guys on the blitz.
______________
I was talking about the 51 point blowouts during the Tenuta era to UGA & VT.
Check the NCAA defensive rankings during Tenuta’s tenure when GT player tougher schedules and the ACC was a tougher conference also.
Tenuta went up a against 1st round NFL QBs like Matt Stafford, Brady Quinn, Philip Rivers, and other future NFL QBs like Whitehurst at Clemson, imagine a CPJ team playing defense against that level of College QB.
The comparison between Tenuta and the DCs that CPJ has brought in is not even close.
What has happened is that many GT fans in an effort to show support for CPJ have denigrated Tenuta’s legacy as GT’s DC in order to make it seem as if CPJ did not make a BAD decision in not keeping Tenuta around, in their eyes since CPJ did not retain Tenuta then he must not have been a good at GT.
Not keeping Tenuta around will probably end up shortening CPJ ’s GT coaching career.

You’re way off SS.
Tenuta got no help from our offense, too many 3-and-outs (Chan’s fault), and as far as having the personality of a cardboard box, our current HC is the same way and he’s called a “no nonsense guy”, and a “straight shooter” to explain his personality and his horrible recruiting.
With Tenuta dry personality is bad, but with CPJ dry personality is a good thing.
When fans like you are able to fairly assess and talk about our HC, only then will you have any credibility.
He’s a $2.5 million HC at a school with a small Athl. Budget and yet no one wants to hold him accountable for our passing game, defense or STs or Recruiting.
He’s a HEAD COACH, not a glorified OC!
And we wouldn’t have a new STs coach unless our 2nd OL Coach got caught committing NCAA violations and had to be fired, so don’t act as if CPJ is “evolving” and adapting to being at the BCS level.
Had that OL coach not gotten fired CPJ would NOT have made the tough decision to fire someone and then bring in a STs coach, that’s the reality that GT fans like refuse to recognize.

L.O.S.! If GT’s OL can perform well on the Line Of Scrimmage then they’ll be fine – the depth appears to be there. Just stay healthy, and the skill players protect the ball, and there will be few, if any, games the Jackets can’t win.
It’s the defensive L.O.S. that needs to step up for once. Play solid D, perform just 50% better on 3rd down D, and I think GT wins 10+ games and probably plays for the ACC title.

Fl Jacket, Florida had Georgias number especially in the 90’s. The series historically has been one of streaks. Georiga was on a 16-5 run when florida started theres. Not to defend UGA (because it makes me feel like I need a shower), but that series against Florida has started to become less one-sided. The Gators have won 5 out of the last 8, so it isn’t total domination anymore (although the two beatdowns in 2008 and 2009 didn’t help).

Ghost,
Nesbitt got hurt in the 2009 game too. I remember D. Thomas breaking open, wide open, behind UGA’s D only to have Nesbitt’s weak-armed backup, J. Shaw, severly underthrow a sureTD that was INT’d.
I also remember a fumble by Branden Smith that, had it bounced to J. Tarrant instead of careening directly to the sideline & out of bounds (UGA kept posession) that would’ve been a scoop & score for GT.
If GT doesn’t have 3 fumbles (one a UGA scoop & score) in 2010, GT wins. If Staff doesn’t throw pick-6 to MB, or Samuel doesn’t fumble KO (JD scored TD on 1st play after), UGA wins in 2008.
2011 game the 3rd qtr was a killer for GT … bad KO coverage. O. Charles fumble that stayed right at his feet (and recovered) with 3 GT players right there (UGA scored TD for 24-10 lead), and 2 TW ints on consecutive possessions INSIDE GT’s own 35 yd line.
UGA has way too much talent to not be beating GT by 14+ 9 of 10, or 10 of the last 11. Scary part for UGA fans is that a few TOs here or there or less TOs by GT (Reggie Ball fumble in 1 game, int on the goal line in another) and we’re looking at a 6-5 record (by either team) in the past 11 games. Don’t forget 2007 in ATL when 3 UGA fumbles (2 on punt returns) were either recovered by UGA in the endzone or knocked through the endzone with all 3 resulting in UGA ball at the 20 yd line.
UGA’s a football factory …. this game has been WAY closer that it should be. I’ll take the 14 too.

Paul, Tech may have shut down an offensively terrible UVA team in 2006 while Tenuta was at Tech, but we were favored in both 2005 and 2007 and lost both of them. In 2007, Tenuta’s defense gave up THREE 1st quarter TD’s. The offense sputtered throughout the game but finally took the lead in the 4th quarter, only to see Tenuta’s defense totally collapse again and lose the game. If I am not mistaken that was the game where the Jackets got suckered by the so-called “hook and ladder” play In 2005, the Tech offense played great, and Tenuta’s defense still managed to lose the game. Tech was 2-4 against UVA while Tenuta was at Tech. INEXCUSABLE !!!!

U are unable to see that b/c U are only willing to accept the outcome of the play … an INT which appeared to be double coverage b/c …. THE PASS WAS SEVERELY UNDERTHROWN.
Shaw did the same thing in the 2008 FSU game (when he came in to spell an injured J Nes). With GT holding comfortable lead, UNDERTHROWING a wide open D Thomas who had gotten behind the D only to have noodle-arm throwing the pass …. the end result it appeared as if the DB was in good coverage, just like UGA’s in 2010.

headley lamar,
Like so many of your posts, this one is devoid of any intelligent thought. First, his name is Kenyan DRAKE. Second, he will not be playing RB at Alabama, he will be a slot WR and he will probably never catch more than 20 or 30 balls in a season. Unfortunately like so many 18 year olds, Kenyan Drake didn’t have the vision to see what he could have been in the GT offense. He could have been a star running and catching the ball at A-back in the GT offense. A-backs haven’t traditionally gotten large amounts of touches in the GT offense, but there has also never been a player quite like Kenyan Drake (who has a very similar skill set to CJ Spiller) to play the A-back position.

Under the current coaching staff I can’t see how GT football will ever be a BCS contender. 1. CPJ will always blame the team for any loss. He is never out coached and never makes a mistake. 2. Our defense is always one or two players or a year or two away from being really good. Our defense can’t put pressure on the quarterback. 3. Our defense can’t tackle, particularly in the secondary. Just go back and watch the VT game again. VT running backs ran all over our secondary because our defensive front got man handled and our secondary tries to knock people down instead of wrapping them up with good tackling technique. 4. GT can’t recuit anything better than the middle of the pack players. 5. We can’t even fill up Bobby Dodd/Grant Field to support our team.

Al, you complain that CPJ blames the team for losing games, and then you turn around and do the very same thing. Obviously, you are correct in laying the blame on the players on the field, so why shouldn’t CPJ do the same thing when it IS their fault for missing plays. Now if it’s a matter of him calling the wrong play or screwing up in some way himself (or one of his assistants), then perhaps he should address that more directly, but can you name me a coach in the country who has the humility to take all the blame on himself? I can’t think of any, right off hand. When a defensive player fails to make a tackle, is CPJ supposed to say, “dammit, I missed that tackle.” Of course not. Sometimes he yells at players on the sidelines if they pull a boner, but, lest you forget, SO DID O’LEARY. And, in fact, I can remember one Maryland game when O’Leary was HC that he pretty much PUBLICLY blamed the whole game on ONE Tech player. CPJ also praises a player to the hilt when he makes a big play. Tech’s recruiting is no worse, and no better, than it ever has been. Even Dodd had to struggle to get the best, and because of recruiting tactics used by Bama and a few other SEC schools, that caused him, at least in part, to pull us out of the SEC. I agree that it sucks that we don’t fill up the stadium anymore. I don’t have the answer for that, other than lousy schedules every other year. Do you have the answer for it? We didn’t fill it up consistently under Ross, Gailey, or O’Leary either.

Wow! I feel like WnE. I didn’t think my post would draw so much attention. The point I was trying to make is I have seen little or no positive change in the overall performance of GT football under CPJ or Al Groh. I don’t blame the team for poor performance, I blame the coaches for not preparing the team to play. There will always be games where mistakes happen that cost you a game, but poor technique is a coaching problem. CPJ is so freaking arrogant it took him more than 3 years to finally admit his special teams needed a coach. I had high hopes for both coaches when they were hired and they’ve both been a disappointment. Last but not least, filling the stands on Saturday shouldn’t be a problem if the fans believed they were going to win. Take a trip to Tuscaloosa Alabama some Saturday this fall and watch a game (If you can find a ticket). Listen to Nick Saban’s interviews and see how much he blames his players when things don’t go well.

Ghost, I’m sure if the story is true it would be all over the AJC. I’ve been looking for it all over the place and can find nothing. The AJC covers UGA with multiple stories everyday. Most of them are fluff pieces about how great things are going. You are right though, if a UGA player gets in trouble it’s front page news, but the same thing happens to Tech. Even to former athletes that only played one year of BB then went to the NBA. This rumor is spreading on the UGA blogs. The AJC will not report this until it’s a fact. The reason being that if they went by rumor Drummond would sue them for libel and easily win. Too bad those spreading the rumor cannot be held to the same standard. I guess some people have to grasp at anything they can to feel better about themselves. Seems strange nothing is reported on this anywhere. I’ll keep waiting for the story. I hope truth seller will retract his libelous post if/when it’s proven false. Have a good evening.

I am pretty sure all Tech fans know the difference and realize that we DO cut block regularly, but in CPJ’s 4 years, we have probably only been called for chop blocks five times, and two of those were in VT games, with Beamer acting like he doesn’t know the difference either.

If Drummond really had A DUI, he must really get around fast. Consider this: Get up about 7:30AM to go to various classes, then goes back to dorm to get ready for football practice, heads to his locker and to the practice field. Practice lasts until about 6:00 PM. Then , he gets in his car (if he has one) and heads up to Hall County for a quick Dui. Drive time to Hall County is maybe an hour to hour and a half depending on traffic. After being released on ROR bond he gets back to Tech just in time for bedcheck at 9PM. JUst a bit of a stretch to me.

I just happened to be in the right one today I heard Mr. Drummond’s name and charge during the Calendar Call, then his attorney said “that will be a plea today” An hour or so later he closed his case with a plea. I have not seen any of his paper work, but it is public record. You can look up any civil or criminal case in georgia and have access to the clerk’s file. It would seem to me that if an attorney appeared in court today regarding said case, that the charges would have been leveled before today. If an arrest was made or any kinds of charges were made prior to today, even if last night, wouldn’t that have appeared in the news? Does a court appearance (and plea) occur so quickly after charges are made that he (if true) could have been charged last night and appeared (or be represented) in court today? Having worked in the court system myself but not being an attorney, this is the way it worked in Atlanta. On the day or night of arrest, the defendant is taken to jail to have a bond set for the offense, say a DUI. A judge goes to the jail the following morning and hears a brief statement by the defendant and sets bond or if there are further more serious charges , the defendant may not be given bond at all . Sometimes there may be possesion of drug charges which are felony violations.Assuming it is just DUI the court sets an arraignment date for maybe a month away. The first court date (arraignment) , the defendant is told his rights and asked for his plea and if he wants an attorney. He can plea guilty on arraignment and be sentenced by the court if the judge accepts said plea. If the defendant pleads not guilty , a trial date is set and all parties vital to the case are ordered for that session of court.

Ken finally posted something new at 10:02, and he doesn’t say anything about Drummond being in trouble, so either even he doesn’t know anything about it, or it’s not true. However, he didn’t open his article to comments, so that might say something too; he could be avoiding the issue for now.

could it be and old charge, think it may be related to why he was suspended for a season year before last??

The justice system must be different in GA than in NC. If you have a court date in NC – for example, for driving 65 in a 55 – within a couple of days it will be listed on the docket at the county courthouse and every lawyer in the county will be sending you letters offering to represent you. The cases are available online as well.

Paul, there are just a lot of strange things about what Truth Seller posted. Not saying it didn’t happen, but a lot of unanswered questions here.
