Georgia Tech will probably fill its coaching vacancy this week, coach Paul Johnson said.
The coach will replace co-offensive line coach Todd Spencer, who resigned Jan. 27 after violating NCAA rules banning text messages to prospects and their guardians or parents. Johnson would not offer more detail about the hire and did not specify which position he would coach.
“I have not offered anybody the job yet, but I probably will in the next day or two,” he said Tuesday.
Johnson did say that he did not foresee any more changes on the staff. He said he interviewed “three or four” candidates, and that he didn’t have a prior working relationship with all of them.
He laughed at the rumor that former Maryland coach and Tech offensive coordinator Ralph Friedgen had been a possibility.
“There wasn’t any truth to that,” he said.

Right, George. As you watch CPJ’s offense, you can see one play sets up the other. CPJ also has the tendency to run a play until the defense can stop it. If we had an effective passing game, he would probably throw the ball all day if that was the play the defense couldn’t stop.
A good example is when Dwyer was lighting up defenses with the B-Back dive. Eventually, they would key on him and Jones or Allen would burn them on the outside. The problem came when it was 3rd and long and there was no effective option.

Interesting that Augusta Jacket found the announcement on a Canadian website, and yet the AJC hasn’t posted anything about it yet. You would think there would have been simultaneous announcements.

I hate to say it, because Ken does a fantastic job, but often times it seems the Jackets have better coverage from the Augusta and Macon papers than they do from the AJC.

I typically have an idea what they’re going to do because you usually see what the defense is doing midway through the first quarter. It’s usually just a blocking change, though, and not much more.

HT, I can assure you, Tech doesn’t get better coverage in the Augusta papers. Macon had great Tech coverage until the man doing it left there, but Augusta NEVER has any decent coverage of anything going on at Tech. Believe me; I live here and have to read that garbage daily

Right, I’ve seen that, too. But also watch for B-Back dive gap selection as well as the blocking adjustments. Also see which side of the defense gets picked on with the option.

One of the hardest things about next year will be the loss of Roddy. If you paid attention the past few years, he didn’t get many carries because he was such a devastating blocker. It always blew me away that the defense didn’t expect the play to go to his side.

@ Augusta Jacket, I wasn’t born here, but my family was from here and moved back here when I was age 3. Other than going to Tech and working in Tennessee for 2 1/2 years, I have lived here all my life. I have created a temporary email account for getting in touch with some of the bloggers here (actually met some at some games last year). If you would like to contact me and find out if we know each other, that address is supersizerorder@yahoo.com. Anybody else who is a real Tech fan and would like to establish a line of communication is also welcome to email me. Just provide some kind of “proof” that you are who you say you are, and I will then give you my “real” email address.

I’ll help you out, HighTech.
Coach Kung Fu Panda has Lost games because of his gimmicky Triple SLOPtion and now he hires a Special Teams Coach? It sounds to me like playing for CPJ has caused the Players not to have Special Teams FUNDAMENTALS.
This also will NOT help Coach Kung Fu Panda get Elite Recruits and now my fellow GT Alums will keep talking about Elite Academics as the reason why we can’t get Elite Recruits. CMR would have hired a Special Teams coach with Strong Recruiting CONNECTIONS to be the Special Teams Coach. CPJ the GENIUS HC won’t do that because of his EGO.

“Your” getting there, FLJ. I would suggest you also capitalize the first letter of more random words. For example, I might have capitalized the s in Sucking. Just understand that it makes no sense. “Your” just going to have to go with it.
