Georgia Tech 2012 schedule

Sept. 3 – at Virginia Tech

Sept. 8 – Presbyterian

Sept. 15 – Virginia

Sept. 22 – Miami

Sept. 29 – Middle Tennessee State

Oct. 6 – at Clemson

Oct. 13 – Open date

Oct. 20 – Boston College

Oct. 27 – BYU

Nov. 3 – at Maryland

Nov. 10 – at North Carolina

Nov. 17 – Duke

Nov. 24 – at Georgia

First observations – A well-placed bye, after the fifth game. … Six of the first eight games are at home, including four in a row in September, and then three of the last four are on the road, including at Georgia. … With three Coastal Division games in the first four weeks, Tech’s ACC titles hopes could well be in terrific shape, or dashed, before the end of September. … Duke plays Tech after its bye week, which I think it also did this past season. North Carolina will also get Tech after the bye.

Thanks for reading.

As usual, the biggest question concerning Georgia Tech’s football schedule is who in the world cares? This is a program that very rarely finishes ranked, very rarely plays in a January bowl game, very rarely wins any bowl game whatsoever, and very rarely beats its biggest rival. Look up the word “irrelevant” in the dictionary and there’s a picture of Buzz staring right back at you.

I’m becoming more and more convinced that they hired Paul Johnson as a marketing ploy more than anything else. He’s got a sharp tongue and runs a gimmick offense for the media to talk about. They needed to generate some excitement about the program after things went stale under Gailey. Things are going stale again. I barely even watched them play last year. Its very boring and mediocre football. Nobody cares about Georgia Tech football.

The truth hurts.

And yet, here you are dawgfan. Here you are. Thanks for caring.

I haven’t been able to post much lately due to wineing and dineing some new accounts. I notice 5150, and the usual texties are still here posting every 5 minutes though.

5150 I guess the birdhouse business has really been hurt by the economy huh? Remind me again what courses at ga text prepared you to build and sell homes for birds.

Why are you posting every five minutes?

Wineing and dineing? I hope, for your sake, you don’t write letters or e-mails to your new accounts.

Man, I thought UGA schedule sucked. This is even worse. If Tech is praying for a good season, the schedule may help. Lets see, you guys have got the Presbyterians, the Mormons, and the Catholics. Why didnt you schedule Baylor and SMU just to have all the denominations covered? .

Tech isnt asking for contributions through the mail this year, they are passing the collection plate around during the game. That may be OK, though, If everybody in attendance at the average Tech game gave $1, you would have 10 or 12 grand right there.

Who are the Catholics? BC is run by the Jesuits so i guess that is who you mean. We do have the best southern denomination represented…The R.DN.CKS at Clem&son and UGa.

@ 5150 whatever Since Jesuits are Catholics, yes that is what I meant.

I wish I had $1 for every post 5150 had posted in the past year. it must be 5000. Now if we had $1 for every post that actually contributed anything, we would all be broke.

When is GT going to play someone of worth, in their non-conference games. And in-state UGA doesn’t count. Im just saying. They never will become an elite/good team, if they never play anyone on a national level.

That’s right. GT should play someone on a national level. I mean – who the heck are BYU and where the heck is Provo, UT? All BYU has done is play in 7 bowls in a row and won 10 or more games 5 out of the last 6 years.
GT needs to schedule powerhouses like Buffalo, FLorida Atlantic and Georgia Southern.

Well there’s the series with BYU plus the conference games. Wish Tech would have went after a bigger school, but then again they open with VT in Blacksburg. After The Presbyterians they play the toughest part of their ACC schedule.

TECH has been trying for the VOLs but to no avail. Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Miss St, Vandy, Bama and Tech moved the game from 12-13 to like 18-19, Kansas, Auburn, U Conn, & BYU are all the Non-UGa OOC teams Tech has played since 2002. Come back with UGa’s OOC foes please.

@Paul and 5150…Obviously you did not see my earlier post about the opponents that GaTech and UGA face this year. UGA is ONCE AGAIN Tech’s most difficult opponent, while Tech is UGA’s 7th most difficult. Don’t brag Comparing the GaTech and UGA 2012 football schedules using Sagarin’s final 2011 rankings looks something like this:

Tech Opp…………..Ranking……UGA Opp……………….Ranking
Georgia……………..21…………….South Carolina……….10
Virginia Tech …….27…………….Missouri…………………16
Clemson ……………32…………….Florida …………………..29
BYU…………………..34…………….Auburn……………………33
Miami………………..52…………….Vanderbilt………………42
North Carolina……54…………….Tennessee…………….50
Virginia……………..71…………….Georgia Tech…………56
Boston College….90…………….Georgia Southern…..81
Maryland……………104…………..Kentucky……………….85
Duke…………………113…………..Ole Miss……………….103
MTSU……………….169…………..Buffalo………………….135
Presbyterian……..196…………..Florida Atlantic……..190about how difficult your Betty Crocker schedule is…

Have to agree with Ken, after September our ACC title hopes will be in good shape or it will be a long season. I think the trap game is UVA. No way we overlook VT. Presbyterian is no competition. If we start 2-0, may get a little ahead of ourselves and start looking ahead to the U and redemption for a horrible loss last year. I personally don’t like how the schedule is front end loaded, but it is what it is.

sagarins ratings are flawed but why would you use last year as a measuring stick for this year. that’s like looking at a companies earnings from a year ago and saying how they should reflect the current price when we all know it’s the future earnings. duh

DodgerDawg…
Sagarin’s computer program adds ARTIFICIAL (i.e. personal bias) strength to the SEC teams. As does ESPN & the BCS. It’s a $ thing DD. Or maybe it’s vice-versa …. Sagarin get his bogus team strengths based on bogus rankings provided by ESPN & the BCS (the controllers of NCAA football). Again DD, it’s a $ thing.

You’re not as dumb as you’re portraying yourself to be on this blog, even I have faith in that. But Buffalo, GA Southern & Fla Atlantic would be lucky to beat MTSU, and none would have a prayer of beating BYU.

So quit making yourself look more stupid than you are.
