Greetings-
We’re about 25 minutes from tip and I’d say there’s about 100 people in the Philips Arena stands. I trust it’ll fill up; crowds seem to have been late-arriving this season and traffic is a little busy. But former Wake Forest coach Dave Odom is here for his TV work.
Some thoughts on this afternoon’s ACC extravaganza. Some thoughts.
1. Maryland has been playing Nick Faust at point guard with Pe’Shon Howard out with an ACL. The move “gives them great size and an ability to make some dynamic plays because he’s a talent, there’s no question about that,” coach Brian Gregory said. Faust is 6-6 and more of a forward. He’ll be a tough size matchup for Mfon Udofia.
2. Maryland is 1-6 on the road this season, is 13-1 when it out-rebounds its opponent and 2-10 when it gets out-rebounded. In the first meeting between the teams, Maryland took 38 rebounds to Tech’s 36.
3. Jason Morris should be more mobile and explosive with three more days to heal his foot injury. He gave 17 minutes and did not score against Clemson.
4. Quotable Gregory: “Sometimes, when you’re in the middle of it like we are, sometimes you take a step forward and two steps back and then you take another step forward and eventually, at least, you’re in a much different place than when you started. The job now is to continue to not have those two steps back and that’s kind of what we did on [Tuesday] night.”
5. Brandon Reed on Udofia being the team’s leader:
“He’s always been like that. He just has a way of saying words that people gravitate to. He’s very passionate about what he’s doing, so I think that’s really why he’s the heart and soul of the team.”
Enjoy the game.

Udofia – 7 pts, 5 rebs, 9 asts, 3 tos – a really good day to the tune of 3:1 AST/TO ratio. Great job!

Sounds like a great night for the locals.
I was in the Varsity tonight surrounded by the Ohio State baseball team. Now the kids all seemed polite but they had some guy in there with a bull horn (I’m pretty sure this guy bought the bull horn himself because I doubt that anyone would want to listen to him at any volume) and he is going off on Michigan. It made our rivalry seem a lot more mature.

What happened is, we have won 3 games this year, 3. I cant remember a season so terrible in the last 20 years! The intense GaTech basketball is just not there. Besides the fact that this was a hire based on finances, this coach is in over his head in the ACC. I can only hope that the athletic ability of the new recruits will carry this program long enough for the coaching staff to catch up. All of the sideline coaching antics are cute, but doesnt win ball games. But there is a short leash for success in this program, and this season is basically in the books. Next up, a new arena and high expectations…

I trust in Brian Gregory. With his energy and style of play, I believe he can lead this team to greatness. Plus he doesn’t take crap from even our “best” player, which is a huge positive.

wreck, winning produces fans, and based solely on that game, the wins WILL come. It was exciting and fun to watch, even just on TV. I just wish I could have seen the last 18.2 seconds.

Georgia’s always looking for basketball fans. You’d be a better fit at Stegman.
Don’t let the door hit you, and take Glen Rice Jr. with you.
I suspect you’re actually a poodle anyway.

Been a Tech fan for over 30 years…hang in there and you will see that either the recruits will overshadow this coach or those sideline antics will turn into a coach that can win at the major level. I pray for the program, but it is on a rocky edge, seriously.
