Update: The ACC wasn’t waiting only on Florida State. With Florida State having found an opponent for its Sept. 8 slot, the clock is now ticking solely for Georgia Tech.
The school had to move games around to accommodate its Labor Day game against Virginia Tech and is still looking for an opponent for Sept.8, five days after the Virginia Tech game.
“Hopefully we’re getting to a conclusion, but it’s been frustrating,” associate athletic director Wayne Hogan said.
Hogan said the school has narrowed its search down to two schools, which he declined to name.
“We’re close,” he said. “I hope we can announce something soon.”
The Seminoles will play Savannah State to replace its game against West Virginia, which canceled the game as it is about to join the Big 12. Savannah State will receive $475,000 for its visit to Tallahassee. The ACC had been waiting on Florida State to find an opponent to complete the league schedule.
Two known dates for Georgia Tech are the Sept. 3 Labor Day game against Virginia Tech and a home game against BYU Oct. 27. Tech figures to play Georgia Nov. 24 in Athens.

I would definitely pay to see us destroy Curry. And yes, it would be a sell out.

Curry might be a nice man, but Curry is a quitter: he quit on GT when Tech gave him a head coaching job when he had very little coaching experience. Curry dumped Tech to go to Ala. where he could have a team he could “Take to the next level.” Tech owes him nothing.

Curry to the flats? Are you kidding me?
That guy is a loser. Or maybe you don’t remember Alabama running his ass out of town in the middle of the night because he couldn’t win at the easiest school to win at.
Georgia Tech needs a recruiter and someone who is willing to bend the rules. Terry or Tommy Bowden would make excellent choices, I think.

Div 1 schools should be required to play only div 1 schools.

@ BJ. Noone wants Curry on the flats as our coach. We just want to spank his sissy GSU team on the flats. As far as other head coaches, let’s see how 2012 unfolds before we start beating that drum. Most aren’t expecting a W at VT, but that would certainly breathe life into the program. Only a bad loss in that game starts that talk. Until then let’s stay positive.

I think stickin with MTSU is fine. A few years ago VT lost their first 2 including being upset by JMU. They proceeded to show they were still the best team in the league by coming together and toughing it out. CPJ has to show some mettle this year and starting with some adversity and a challenging early schedule is the way to go. If he can’t rise to the occasion then … I’d like to think he will.

I’ll try to show some mettle and fess up to my typo above. The scheduling of MTSU should not have been a problem. Win both VT and MTSU and we are off to the races.

It’s not like we’re dropping MTSU. Tech just wants them later in the season, and that apparently has already been taken care of. We just need somebody else on the 8th now.
