4 from Tech make All-ACC academic team

Georgia Tech placed four football players on the All-ACC Academic team, three of whom have graduated – guard Will Jackson, B-back Preston Lyons, defensive end Jason Peters and defensive tackle Logan Walls.

To be eligible for consideration, the athlete must earn a 3.0 GPA for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 average for his academic career.

Walls, who earned his management degree in 2011 and was pursuing a second major in history, technology and science last fall, earned his third all-academic selection.

Jackson, a business administration major, has made the team for two years in a row. It was the first honor for Peters, who earned his management degree last year and began a second degree in biology, and Lyons, a history, science and technology major who graduated in December.

It’s the third time in coach Paul Johnson’s four years that four team members have been honored.

Duke placed 18 team members on the team, followed by Clemson and Wake Forest with five each. Tech tied with Maryland with four.

Considering “Honors” at Georgia Tech is a 3.15 I’d say these guys are doing fantastic…

Let’s keep the insecure snobbery going Techies. You’re on a roll.

dawgfan it isn’t BRAGGING or “snobbery” when it is a FACT TECH is hard to get in, even harder to stay in, and graduate. When you add honors on top there is a reason to be a little Arrogant. it ain’t like they are housing, family development, or consumer economics majors.

“Let’s keep the insecure snobbery going Techies. You’re on a roll.” Wow you are an idiot dawgfan. I read the comments from the Tech faithful and didn’t see an inch of ’snobbery” or “insecurity”. But you are dog fan so I guess you don’t know any better. Keep on hating brother.

It is snobbery when you feel the constant urge to remind everyone of such things, when in reality no one is challenging you on it. What are you trying to prove and who are you trying to prove it to? Some people might even tab this as some type of Little Man’s Syndrome. The Techie mind is an interesting study in insecurity issues. Psychologists would have a field day.

dwagfan…this is a TECH blog, if you don’t like it read about 70 tons of trash and reinstated thieves.

While we could go hours into discussion of how rigorous, unforgiving, and challenging the curriculum is at Tech…it would do no good to someone who probably looks at education, as much of the SEC fanbase does, as something “you can get anywhere”.

Sort of like the insecurity it takes to troll on another teams blog looking for ways to feel better about yourself? I think we have indeed found our “little man”.

dawgfan; when I attended GA Tech, they got all Freshmen together and asked us to look to the left, then look to the right, and then they told us neither of those people would be there with us if we graduated as only 1 in 3 people who started at Tech actually graduated. Perhaps those numbers have improved since way-back-when, but I thinks it’s safe to assume classes are still quite difficult and being able to achieve Academic Honors while spending so much time away from normal class time due to athletic requirements at GA Tech is a tremendous achievement.

I love how “dawgfan” doesn’t want to hear about the outstanding accomplishments and the effort it takes to do this, yet he is stupid enough to read the article and the comments. Nobody dissed another scool or anything. They were just talking about the rigors of life for a student, much less a student athlete, at GT… You sir have an inferiority complex more than these posters have a snob complex…

Congrats to all of the young men who made the ACC All-Academic team. Any SA who has a 3.0 during the semester when his sport is played is doing something right.
The full listing is on the ACC website.
