Greetings-
Hope all are well and ready for Game No. 18 of the Brian Gregory era. A friend asked me if I thought Georgia Tech will get into the 50’s. Virginia is No. 2 in the country in scoring defense at 51.1 points per game and has had a week to stew over its loss to Duke and get ready for the Jackets, who, as you might remember, managed just 50 points in its 61-50 loss to Maryland Saturday in its poorest offensive game of the season.
We’ll see. I see a game in the 50’s and a lot of floor burns. Enjoy the game.

Virginia plays some pretty tough defense. I’m a little surprised Tech has scored as well as it has. Miller doing well on Scott so far. interesting lineup move. i figured holsey would defend him.

UVA playing well, we need to withstand this initial hot start from them. Their shooting % won’t continue.

CBG needs to step it up!…I know 2 coaches from the ACC that left and has their new team playing great!…
Coach Haith has Mizzou in the top 5.I remember when GT CEO Mark Bradley wrote an article about how GT did much better than Mizzou with the hiring of CBG..lol…and
GMU is 14-5 and headed to the BIG DANCE with Paul Hewitt as HEAD COACH!!!!!

CBG was a bad hire, just face it!…This will be over quicker that you can tuck Mark Bradley into bed…He was on the hot seat at Dayton, Why hire a guy who already is on the hot seat?..This will teach Gt fans to quit trusting Mark Bradley…

We probably won’t win another game this year but at least Hewitt is gone and we might actually have some players graduate and get a degree which no one ever did under Hewitt. It also nice to hear a coach spend more time talking about his team instead of the Yankees or or Atlantic 10 basketball. DRad must be the worst AD in the country to still be paying that clown after he got the team on probabtion three times for not caring anything about his players futures.

Hewitt, CBG is better than “one and dones” period. I don’t like MB. How about we give a new coach a chance to coach “his” team. This is a team he inherited. Some good players on the horizon…
CPH, would not be in better shape right now than CBG. Virginia is a good team.

There’s a reason why UVA is ranked. They are a good team. All Tech can do is keep battling. Rice needs to get all over it for a chance.

This was probably about as bad as we can play. Teams have games like this sometimes. Look at UNC last week against FSU. We will get better. We need to find some offense though. If Rice is off we are pretty much dead.

Don’t say teams have games like this. Don’t say that that Virginia is that much better than GT.
Don’t say they will improve going forward. Don’t say that GT has talent coming in next year.
Don’t say that CBG has to get his system installed and the guys have to buy in. We have heard enough of this. The fact is GT looks like they have never practiced. On offense they are unsure
and without any confidence with the ball in their hands. It looks like they are waiting on something
good to happen. Why after half of the season is gone GT doesn’t know how to compete, play basketball, pass the ball, shoot the ball, run plays, etc. etc. & etc.
Do they practice? I absolutely blame the coaching. It’s almost impossible for a team to look this
bad–on purpose. They may not have all 5 star atheletes, but they have good athletes. Anybody, including a fan, knows there is something wrong here. GT has got to be totally embarassed–
embarassed– & embarassed. It sems that they are beng coached defense first and offense 2nd,
3rd, or 4th. Tell me Virginia is that much better and I’ll say they aren’t, but their coaching surely
is. It doesn’t matter how much talent a team has. If it isn’t coached with instilled confidence,
it will mostly lose. How do we as fans endure such dismal results, when we know it should be better?

This team is poorly coached period. Keep ripping Hewitt all you want to make yourselves feel better. There is more talent on this roster than we are showing. Worst gt showing tonight since 1982!! We got Gregory b/c no one else would come. There are much better coaches than hewitt, but Gregory is not one. Do not let your hate for Hewitt fool you. This epic of a loss never happened under Hewitt, but if it had, all of you would have no patience and be ripping him. And – Gregory has graduated no one yet so let’s wait for proof before we start the “we may suck more, but at least we graduate players now” chant. We have proof after tonight that we now suck more so half is true.

I was in here last week after our 19 point half vs Maryland stating that these players are Hewitt left-overs. Hewitt recruited street ball players – not ones that were taught the game fundamentally. Therefore, none of them know how to shoot the ball through the hoop. Oh, they can drive the lane and lay the ball up but that is the extent of it. Hopefully Gregory will go to the smallest little towns and find the youngsters that spend all their free time out back just shooting baskets. Ala Mark Price. Those are the players GT needs to be successful.

Both UGA and Tech need to realize that neither team is going to be very good this year. Hewitt always had pretty good recruiting classes, so who knows what happens to these guys when they get to Tech. Fox is still fighting many bad years of basketball, so he has his work cut out for him to turn things around. I believe that UGA has the better coach, but Tech has the ability to get better players. Both teams are going to struggle the next couple years.

From another blog & I completely agree:
There’s multiple top 100 recruits on this team (Udofia, Holsey, Royal, Morris) and the best player is one who wasn’t (Rice Jr.). There’s a solid rotation of bigs and what on paper should be a decent backcourt. This team just isn’t well coached right now. Maybe they will be later on in Gregory’s tenure, but right now I’d be willing to bet that Hewitt would have a better record with this group. And that’s NOT a compliment.
Last night was an absolute embarrassment for this program. There is not a single valid reason for GT to ever play that badly. EVER.
