EL PASO, Texas – Georgia Tech offensive tackle Phil Smith was suspended for the Sun Bowl Wednesday for violating team rules. Smith will not play and was sent home.
Coach Paul Johnson did not have more comment on the matter. This is the second suspension of the season for Smith. He was held out of the first two games of the season, also for breaking team rules.
Smith played in a three-tackle rotation with Tyler Kidney and Ray Beno through the season. Most likely, Kidney and Beno will start and take all of the snaps.
Smith is the second starter who will not play for rules violations. Cornerback Louis Young is also ineligible for the game for disciplinary reasons.

Hopefully he will learn from this. If this had been the other team, he would have been suspended for the SE Louisana game next year
Nope actually had it been us he would have been suspended for bowl game as well. good try though.

I would really like to see Drew get a few starts and see how he does playing a full game. But I think he is going to be a beast!
Swann will be great for us next year and will be able to step in quick. He started really slow but is suppossed to be really impressive as of late.
Herrera is nasty and will def step into some role for us.
Yea I hope TJ recovers quick we could def use him.
I am really looking forward to seeing Wesley Scott (or other way around) I have heard nothing but GREAT things about him. Hes supposed to be faster than Mitchell which is mind boggling.
Theus will be fun to watch as he should be able to be a starter by mid season. (Hopefully he brings Avery Young with him bc he could be a starter mid season as well.)
We have so much young talent its almost unfair. but I am looking forward to seeing these guys get out there next year and show their stuff!
If Scott-Wesley contributes for us, along with Mitchell, King, Bennett, Conley and our tight ends, we will have the best group of receivers in the SEC! I definitely agree with you on Avery Young, we HAVE to get some more offensive linemen so Murray will have more help in the big games. I really do think that our line could better good next year if we can finish strong recruiting them and get Kolton Houston back.

Yea and rumors flying everywhere that Brandon Green will decomitt from Bama and sign with UGA.
Also ones flying that since Avery Young has opened up recruiting that Bama is after him hard and they dont want both so if somehow they manage to get Avery, The will kick Greene to the curb. (Surprise Surprise Satan would do something like that???)

Why The Triple Option Doesn’t Work

Clemson was a good win, but other than that,
you scored 30 or over only on the following horrible programs.
Western Carolina
Middle TN
Kansas
NC State
Duke
This does not prove out the triple joke.”
What?! You mean Western Carolina’s not a juggernaut?!

South Carolina was a good win, but other than that, you scored 30 or over only on the following horrible programs:
Coastal Carolina
Vandy
New Mexico
Auburn
GT
Looks like your pro-style doesn’t work either can only score 30 on 1 legitimate team. I’d count GT, but most UGA fans say GT is horrible and a joke so we can’t count GT as a good team.

1. Our offense had a lot of youth (three freshman receivers)
2. We left a lot of points on the board with missed field goals.
3. UGA might have scored more on Tech if that game was closer or if we had Crowell and Samuel healthy.
4. You can only do so much on offense without a solid offensive line. Oregon had the best offense in the country last season, but because they could not block Nick Fairley and Auburn’s other big linemen, they did not score much in that game. I am not comparing UGA to Oregon, I am saying that the main problem with Georgia not scoring more points against the better teams (minus South Carolina) is the blocking… and we are in the mix for some very good offensive linemen in this recruiting class.
Georgia is a good team, definitely not a great team. But there are a lot of teams who would be happy to have the success that Georgia had this season. Florida, Tennessee, and plenty of others.
