Reports: Chow to leave Utah for Hawaii
Utah offensive coordinator Norm Chow was negotiating a contract Tuesday to become the next coach at Hawaii, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and the Salt Lake Tribune. Utah will play Georgia Tech in the Sun Bowl.
Chow will coach at Utah, his alma mater, for only one season after being hired in January. The Hawaii-born Chow will get his first chance to be a head coach after 39 years as an assistant at the college and NFL levels. He is credited with the development of three Heisman Trophy winners – Ty Detmer, Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart – and also coached Steve Young, Jim McMahon and Philip Rivers. Tuesday, both Chow and Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said their preference is that he coach the Utes against Tech.
Chow told the Deseret News that he “would be honored to stay” if Whittingham wants him to coach in the Sun Bowl. Utah defensive coordinator Siane Sitake is reportedly a possibility to join Chow in Hawaii. Whittingham said he would likewise hope that Sitake would coach in the bowl game.
As a recruiting dead period began Monday and runs through Jan. 3, Chow would not be able to get on the road to recruit if he were to leave Utah immediately.
Tech wide receivers coach Buzz Preston, a Hawaii grad and former assistant, applied for the position but was not a finalist.

If you go back and check Chow’s resume as Offensive Coordinator; when he actually was responsible for running the show; you’ll see what I’m talking about. He wasn’t in that capacity at BYU…

I’d say Chow did pretty well as OC at USC from 2001-2004. 2 MNCs and 2 Heisman trophy winners.
He did well as OC at NCSU – over 30 pts a game scored

superDumb, it actually only took Tech 13 years to beat the mutts in Athens, since we played in the OMNI in Atlanta for 14 straight years, and Tech won the majority of those games. Do you realize that Tech won an SEC championship in basketball before leaving the SEC in 1964, but UGA didn’t win an SEC championship in basketball until Durham did back in the 80s. I heard some good news about one of our former class of 2007 players(Kyle Jackson) I understand he got accepted to GA. State Law school. I’m not surprise I always felt he had a future outside of football by the way he carried himself. I’m happy for him and hate that his football days at GT ended early.

Really? If you had two masters degrees, you could at least write a coherent football related post. That is, unless those masters degrees are in recreation and magazines. Also, if you were loved by beautiful women and cherished by friends and family, you wouldn’t be constantly writing irrational nonsense about cold fusion, narrow mindedness, hate filled comments, or your obsession with Georgia Tech, on a GT football blog.

The proper prep for the Sun Bowl trip is to have several Kevlar articles of clothing handy, like Kevlar Bermuda shorts and T shirts IF it is warm on game day or Kevlar jeans and Kevlar sweat shirts and Kevlar boots, gloves and Kevlar sunglasses if chilly.

Fox Sports News last week ranked the Sun Bowl # 27 out of 35 bowl games and the OUTBACK BOWL was RANKED # 5. Typical UGA venue. Over the last 11 years, UGA has attended 3 Sugar Bowl games, two Capital One Bowl games and now this Outback Bowl. Decent average of HIGH END bowls. Tech? ONE URANGE BOWL in 44 years.

CPJ is on THE TECH HOT SEAT. The gents from GT classes of late 60s and early 70s
(TECH FUND CROWD) are not happy. Most are heard grumbling on the links around Atlanta in their foursomes made up of combined UGA, AU and GT ole boy golfers. I know, as I ARE ONE> UGA man here.
CPJ must win this low, low level bowl and he must sign a well respected recruiting class and he must win a title. No bowl wins, no ACC titles and the SECOND CHEATING SCANDAL at Tech in around 8 years has the TECH FUND crowd ………..very unhappy.
CPJ? He so deperately wanted that Texas A&M job where the triple option was world class back in the day and so well understood and appreciated by the Aggie faithful but his phone did not ring.
