Tech’s Will Jackson on bowl practice

Greetings-

Sorry for the delay. I have been down for the count with some sort of bug. Just a few notes from an interview with guard Will Jackson.

1. After a week break, Jackson was eager to get back to practice, to start preparing for Utah and ending Tech’s six-game bowl losing streak.

“It’s kind of a known fact that Georgia Tech’s lost ‘X’ number of bowl games in a row,” he said. “The Orange Bowl my first year and last year losing to Air Force, both of those were pretty embarrassing. You work three weeks, put a lot of time and effort into it and you go down and get beat, it’s not a lot of fun.”

2. Jackson said that run and pass blocking technique got a little sloppy towards the end of the season, which is why the line is trying to polish it up early on in bowl practice.

3. Jackson gave a nod to a few younger linemen, specifically Shaq Mason, Trey Braun and Errin Joe. Of Mason, he said that “I think he’s going to be a phenomenal player.”

Jackson also mentioned a member of the scout-team defense that I imagine many of you have never heard of – Xavier Lewis. Lewis transferred from Savannah State and I believe has two years of eligibility remaining. He’s a walk-on.
“He plays hard,” Jackson said of Lewis. “That’s the big thing. Sometimes those guys on the scout team, they get a little discouraged, they’ll go half-speed, not really care, but he’s going full-go every time. Whether it’s trying to give us a look or to prove himself, he definitely makes an impression.”

4. Jackson has a great aunt who lives in El Paso, who he said has lived there her whole life. She married his grandfather’s brother.

“So, kind of a weird connection,” he said. “Still family nonetheless.”

Thanks for reading.

Romeo, maybe you would be having fun right now if you had a female, or whatever sex you prefer in a partner or date. Then you wouldn’t feel the need to show your butt on a Tech blog.

Another year with CPJ, another year losing to teams we should beat in the weak ACC, another year losing a bowl game, and another year dealing with Tech fans that are Kool Aid drinkers and satisfied with just being mediocre.

This was CPJ’s last year with Gailey’s players and our talent is worse each year since CPJ is a terrible recruiter. 4 FREAKING years and still no QB who can pass.

Chan never had a QB who could pass either. If you consider Reggie Ball a passer, then you sure didn’t see the ACC championship game with Wake Forest, where he NEVER even attempted to get the ball to a constantly wide open Calvin Johnson.

6 days without even a Georgia tek beat blog ? Zowie. No wonder all you Georgia tek fans (both of you) spend your days on the UGA beat blog, instead. Trying as you can to make it sound bad that we beat you 31-17 by several touchdowns, while you make ready to lose your 7th bowl game in a row and then recruit your usual # 51 recruiting ranking for Paul Johnson as well, when he cannot even figure out who your Quarterback is in game 12 vs your only Rival, us. By the way, the answer to that is Jaybo Shaw, who transferred from Paul Johnson to be playing in the game Saturday on TV to see if they can go to the National Championship Game again, throwing 7 of 8 passes and 1 TD pass along with his 2 TD runs.

“Georgia tek is obsessed with nothing but beating UGA” says, ‘we beat you 31-17 by several touchdowns’….PLEASE tell me that your handlers don’t let you drive! (It WOULD be nice to beat y’all a little more often). We DO desire to beat you guys…no lie…no matter how hard we try, though; we just can’t seem to compete with that Jan Kemp stuff! How many points do you get for a made 3 point basket?

The real QB went to Ga. Southern…..now ya’ll got the old “athlete at QB” deal again. However, ya’ll will come on. Gotta have a QB that ALSO is a superior athlete in the Tech system. They’re out there….just gotta find ‘em, keep ‘em, and not batter them to death the first game or two. Kudos, macrotech…..I mean Jan Kemp cost us Pulpwood Smith for goodness sake! Anyhow, get some bigger D-linemen, some D-backs that can hang, and we’ll try to get a tailback with an IQ above Mr. Coffee (or even Leon Spinks) and lets make next year fun!!!!!!

14 points is NOT SEVERAL TD’s, and it’s the most you have won by since 2007, which was also only 2 TD’s. A loss is a loss, regardless of the point difference, but 2 TD’s is NOT several TD’s. And which one of us is obsessed??? Which one of us is posting crap on our rival’s blog???

Hey…chill. we gotta post over here; that is the ONLY thing keeping the rivalry alive! (The game certainly is not!) Our blog sites (visited often by the Tekkies quite often, by the way) are full of victory cries, and Tech fans who hate UGA no matter what! Therefore, we intend to make it the rivalry it once was again! Here is how:
1. Make sure Reggie Ball’s kinfolks are by-passed on Scholarship Day!
2. Find a nose tackle who is bigger than your kicker.
3. Although ya’lls offense does not call for it too much, find a QB who actually CAN chunk the rock!
4. Remember to honor your opponents: don’t forget the hitchin’ posts for the mules the Florida State folks ride in.
5. Sell out a home game or two and fill up that 27-person stadium; it makes you look like you care!
6. Remember, don’t make too much fun of the perceived intellectual slothfulness at UGA; we still have manged to have a nice stadium that is full and to bring in a heap more $ to the program than ya’ll…..can’t be all that dumb! This is about football…..don’t try to interject anything else in to cover for the butt-whippin’s 9 outta the last 10 years!
7. Never, I mean NEVER talk about how Wal-mart and Micky D’s jobs are bad! Since all the T.V.s, etc. come from China, Japan, and South Korea the brilliant engineers at Tech musta “fumbled the ball”! Seen a heap of engineering apps comin’ in over the fax lately……

superDawg…you’re right, we DO lose more of the little games to your mutts. While this doesn’t please my soul, I’m proud of the FACT that Tech has won MORE of the BIG games than the pups!

In regards to the difference between a COUPLE of touchdowns and ’several’…does this REALLY need to be explained? Never mind! Can I get you a milkbone or something?

macrotech, not only that, but we wiped the floor with their smelly butts in basketball last week, and we OWN them in basketball …..102 – 86 all time. And what made last week’s win even sweeter is that it was due in large part to Daniel Miller, Tech’s center, who is the grandson of UGA track great Spec Townes, and who got the heck out of UGA 2 years ago and transferred to a real school
