Greetings-
Sorry for the delay. I have been down for the count with some sort of bug. Just a few notes from an interview with guard Will Jackson.
1. After a week break, Jackson was eager to get back to practice, to start preparing for Utah and ending Tech’s six-game bowl losing streak.
“It’s kind of a known fact that Georgia Tech’s lost ‘X’ number of bowl games in a row,” he said. “The Orange Bowl my first year and last year losing to Air Force, both of those were pretty embarrassing. You work three weeks, put a lot of time and effort into it and you go down and get beat, it’s not a lot of fun.”
2. Jackson said that run and pass blocking technique got a little sloppy towards the end of the season, which is why the line is trying to polish it up early on in bowl practice.
3. Jackson gave a nod to a few younger linemen, specifically Shaq Mason, Trey Braun and Errin Joe. Of Mason, he said that “I think he’s going to be a phenomenal player.”
Jackson also mentioned a member of the scout-team defense that I imagine many of you have never heard of – Xavier Lewis. Lewis transferred from Savannah State and I believe has two years of eligibility remaining. He’s a walk-on.
“He plays hard,” Jackson said of Lewis. “That’s the big thing. Sometimes those guys on the scout team, they get a little discouraged, they’ll go half-speed, not really care, but he’s going full-go every time. Whether it’s trying to give us a look or to prove himself, he definitely makes an impression.”
4. Jackson has a great aunt who lives in El Paso, who he said has lived there her whole life. She married his grandfather’s brother.
“So, kind of a weird connection,” he said. “Still family nonetheless.”
Thanks for reading.

Only 10 times the whole time he was in high school? Well that explains a lot. Any word on the other questions?

I get tired of the posters that advertise themselves as GT fans and/or alumni who do little else but post negative comments. Last year was clearly a down year and a big let down from what seemed to be an upswing in GT fortunes. Based on last year’s performance, the so called experts (talking heads) said GT would have a really good year if they managed to be bowl eligible and truthfully many didn’t think they would be that good. These geniuses also knew what GT’s schedule would be. And they still didn’t think GT would be very good, What do we as fans and the team members have to be proud of? Well, they were 6-0 at one point. They lost 2 games to mediocre teams that many thought, me included, they could have won, but for whatever reason they lost, They dropped from #12, many, me too, thought they were over ranked, but they rose up and beat the # 5 team, Clemson, 31-17 which easily could have been 52-10 if a few missed plays had been made. They went into the end of the season with the chance of finishing 10-2. Unfortunately, they will finish with only 9 wins if they win the Sun Bowl. What does the GT football team have to proud of? I’d say plenty, whether they finish 9-4 or 8-5. What do you have to be so negative about?

19, why so worried about Crowell, He didn’t have to play for Georgia to beat the daylights out of tech. His High School GPA was 3.2 ., PJ offered Keith Marshall , he has a 4,2 GPA any reason why a 5 star RB with that type of GPA wouldn’t sign with the genius PJ. Will PJ ever win a bowl game? Will Tech fire PJ after Tech loses to them next season. Will PJ be the next coach at Western Carolina , Central Montana State or Camden County?

Is anything of note going on with Tech’s recruiting besides some apparent interest from a kicker in Illinois? The Athens Journal Constitution continues to focus only on UGA activirty.

I like Paul Johnson. I think that he has the toughness and integrity that GT needs. I thought that the team did very well. Look at the numbers, they had victories over NC, NCSTand Clemson. Those were good victories with bowl teams. Tech played VT close and played Georgia well. The only game that they were totally out of was Miami.
I do wish that Johnson would tweak the option and I think that he will if Vad is a great passer. The defense needs a few more players and I think they will come as success breeds success.

Techies, if somebody commits to Georgia Tech is immediately reported in the AJC recruiting blog. If nothing is being reported in the AJC recruiting blog it probably means that your big mouthed coach isn’t getting any commitments. Why don’t you take all your crying and moaning to him? Why are you always blaming someone else for all of your problems Techies? UGA is hosting several big name recruits this weekend. Paul Johnson will probably be sitting at home getting fatter and uglier. The AJC isn’t reporting on Tech recruiting because there is nothing to report. You’ll get your one and two star prospects in February, make a bunch of excuses for it, and then win your 8 or 9 games in the ACC next year. Nobody cares and its not news.
Thanks.

Dawgfan, right, this is the weekend CMR has the 17-18 year old recruits pose in a jersey with their name on it with the respective offense or defense, gives them a photo of the same and begs
them to come be part of Dream Team XII to save his job-all in violation of NCAA rules. That is the weekend you’re talking about.

The new trend at Tech is to beat UGA once a decade and to win a bowl game once a decade.
This is a bowl topic
December 10th, 2011
10:46 am
GT’s MAJOR bowl history since the mid 1950s:
1955 Sugar Bowl, a win
1967 Orange Bowl, a loss
2009 Orange Bowl, a loss
Yes, tons and tons of insignificant mid to low level Bluebonnet, Emerald City bowls but ONLY THESE THREE MAJOR BOWLS in what? 56 years?
UGA has been in this same 56 year era to 1 Orange Bowl about 7 Sugar Bowl games, and about 5 or 6 Cotton Bowl games and yes, tons of insignificant mid level bowls like the old Peach or the Chic Fil A or the Liberty or the Independence but these, unlike for GT are not our usual bowl venue. I can prove it:
Look at the current bowl offerings for GT and UGA. GT got the shaft having to go to El Paso and dodge drug dealer’s gun fire. DUCK ! You had better wear KEVLAR !!
The Capitol One and the Outback have become, much like the Fiesta Bowl has become, upper end NY Day type of bowls and UGA has been to these two around 5 or 6 more times in this 56 year era.
See? GT is small ball.

The difference is nobody here gives a flying f*&^ what UGA does or doesn’t do and considers it an embarrasment to the states education efforts.
You on the other hand are obviously totally obsessed with all things GT, measured by your constant presence on GT blogs.
See how that works?

Two weeks later and the north avenue trade school is still the dirtiest program that is laughed at the most with the most pathetic fans in the NCAA. No wonder the bug’s savior vlad lee is leaving your silly little program and 5150 is packing cpj’s bags after worshiping him at the fish fry for 3 years.
I laugh loudly every time I think about checking out the ajc blogs 2 weeks ago after watching my Dawgs massacre a totally overwhelmed techie squad. 5150, supersize and a few other miserable little jacket lovers were drying each others eyes as they speculated who might possibly be desperate enough for a job that they would come to the ghetto and coach the puniest thugs around.
Feel free to hammer me now by whineing about the Mighty Bulldogs being defeated by the best team in college football just like every other team LSU has played. Ouch that stings. Get it? Stings like a silly little yellow jacket. I explained it because most of you techies have aspergers.

Just finished watching the Army/Navy game. I enjoy watching it every year. Those kids love their country, football, and their alma mater. I enjoy watching how they run the option offense, too. Army’s ability to throw the ball opened things up a little bit for them, but turnovers were costly.

A pervasive developmental disorder, Asperger syndrome is distinguished by a pattern of symptoms rather than a single symptom. It is characterized by qualitative impairment in social interaction, by stereotyped and restricted patterns of behavior, activities and interests, and by no clinically significant delay in cognitive development or general delay in language. Intense preoccupation with a narrow subject, one-sided verbosity, restricted prosody, and physical clumsiness are typical of the condition, but are not required for diagnosis.
Preoccupation with a narrow subject? The good news Really? is that there are medications and treatments available to you. I really hope a cure or preventative can be found for this condition.

As far as Really? goes, are you saying you can’t fix stupid?
