Georgia Tech has accepted an invitation to play in the Sun Bowl. The Yellow Jackets will play Utah Dec. 31 in El Paso, Texas. It will be the Jackets’ 15th consecutive bowl appearance.
“Our team is excited for the opportunity to play in the Hyundai Sun Bowl,” Tech coach Paul Johnson said in a statement. “Our players worked hard this season and we’re excited to have another game to play.
Tech played Utah in the 2005 Emerald Bowl, losing 38-10 and starting the Jackets’ six-game bowl losing streak.

a.bishop, I went to the Cattleman’s in Dallas many years ago, and it was terrific. Is the one in El Paso connected to the one in Dallas. The one in Dallas was the only restaurant I have ever been to that had Mountain Oysters on the menu, although they called them “Calf Fry.” I tried them, but I never will again; they even served tartar sauce with them. LOL

48, they don’t have sand storms during the winter, do they?

Supersize… The snow actually came last year around the same time as the bowl game. And yeah, the El Paso rain is usually just a few quick showers but be prepared as it will rain down pretty heavily. Although it rarely rains during this time of year in El Paso anyway and I wouldn’t worry about it too much. And follow what a.bishop is saying, Cattleman’s is amazing. Long ways away and not cheap, but definitely worth the drive.

You do know what Mountain Oysters are right lol? Anyway’s I think the one in El Paso might be the original. It was an amazing dinner and worth the money. I think they are connected.

a.bishop, of course I know what they are, although what we call Mountain Oysters are from pigs, and what Cattleman’s had was from cows.

supersize… No, this Cattleman’s is separate from the one in Dallas. And they don’t usually have sand storms during the winter. March through May is another story.

Me: “Don’t be late for your shift at Wal-Mart.”
U(sic)GA fan: “Don’t you know the CEO of Wal-Mart is a Tech grad?”
Me: *Facepalm*
Clearly that’s a joke “dawgs” just don’t get. I’ll give you a hint: CEO’s don’t scrub toilets or stock shelves.

915, I would have figured the sand storms would be from May to September. I encountered one near Albuquerque in August back in the late 90s. It was scary.

It looks like my best shot at a flight out there (on the 30th) doesn’t get there till almost 9PM, so it would have to be after the game on Saturday if I get to Cattleman’s.

Yeah, sand storms can be a bit scary if you haven’t experienced driving in them. I’ve had that experience a couple of times and let me tell you, that’s rough going right there.

Be glad GT did not get the chick bowl as they do not get to travel and it seemed the team never got pumped for it last time.
Dawg48 I would assume Speed will be sent to talk with Davis as he has an offer from GT. Seems strange he decommited after a visit to Tenn over the weekend though. Would be a nice get if the staff could pull it off.

I love the Jackets. But I wish they could compete with the likes of JAWJA. Those nuts think their b-dogs are the most powerful team in the country. I guess because they won a National Champ. over 30 years ago. LSU took em behind the barn and beat the HELL out of em.JAWJA just ant got it anymore.

Way to go Jackets! Don’t really believe that all of this garbage is from ‘real’ Dawg fans; like you, it would seem that we both ‘have other fish to fry’. ….wait, didn’t someone already use that line?
Should be two pretty good bowl games. Take Utah this time and start a streak of wins and hopefully the state can have a double shot of W’s.
…and go Dogs!
Last time you guys played them was under Gailey, wasn’t it?

GT is notorious for being flat and not getting up for games. If he couldn’t get them motivated to play UGA – how will he agains Utah. Who? I expect another poor Gt performance and a repeat of 38-10 could happen. The ‘experiment’ – Johnson – needs to move on. Maybe DRad with him.

Just PLEASE get up for this one and finally win a bowl game. A few years ago we were one of the top two teams in the country regarding bowl records and now we have gone down terribly. We seem to just go through the motions with no fire in the belly. Maybe we ought to try playing volleyball, relax before the game, and then play like hell when we get there.

The Gator Bowl has devolved to pairing a couple of 6-6 teams. Sad to see. The Kraft boal should be renamed the “Fight Hunger for Fired Coaches Bowl”. The trophy could have engravings of Neuheisel and Zook.

We really need to pull for GT. Every game they lose actually hurts us. When the pollsters sit down and vote they look at our yearly GT beat-down and say “Oh they beat GT again and GT really isn’t very good”. It’s all about strength of schedule and since we are forced to play GT every year it would help if they actually garnered at least a little respect nationally.
