Tech to Sun Bowl

Georgia Tech has accepted an invitation to play in the Sun Bowl. The Yellow Jackets will play Utah Dec. 31 in El Paso, Texas. It will be the Jackets’ 15th consecutive bowl appearance.

“Our team is excited for the opportunity to play in the Hyundai Sun Bowl,” Tech coach Paul Johnson said in a statement. “Our players worked hard this season and we’re excited to have another game to play.

Tech played Utah in the 2005 Emerald Bowl, losing 38-10 and starting the Jackets’ six-game bowl losing streak.

It never fails to amaze me, Ken, that the moronic comments flow so quickly on your blogs. It’s a disservice for the fine work you put out on behalf of the Yellow Jackets. Thanks for your hard work. If you’ve never been to El Paso, it’s a beautiful part of the country (especially if you stay away from the Mexican side of the border).

Will try to make the game. Will be buying tix regardless. Hopefully they do a deal, because $45 is steep for tix, with travel expenses high from ATL to El Paso

“Cheats go for 6 in a row”…you could easily be referring to the National Championship. Think about that one for a while!

GT with two cases of cheating on NCAA rules and caught!! Sun Bowl bound though.

DUCK !!! if you hear gun fire. Could be Obama’s and Attny General Eric Holder’s guns being fired by sharpshooters across the border.

Do not go out after dark. STAY IN your hotels rooms and wear a wig to look like a non GRINGO.

El Paso is very, very dangerous. Be careful after dark.

Utah defeated GT under Gailey but CPJ’s TRIPLE O will render them confused and whupped. GT 44-17 Utah.

Ok, time for positive thoughts. Let’s get prepared and win a bowl and get on a roll for next year. Before the season started, we weren’t picked to even go to a bowl this year. Very young team will be better next year, let’s finish on a good note. Good Luck Jackets !!

Will be funny to see only maybe 20,000 people in the stadium. Tech will have no more then 500 fans there. Worst fan base ever. Cracks me up.

No Steve, that award belongs to the Georgia Bulldog fan base. Love their team when they are winning, asking for a new coach when they are losing. Give me a break. And don’t get me started about attending a game at Sanford N Son stadium. Peed on, drinks thrown at you, cursed at. Now that is a joke.

The safest city in America is…. El Paso. Sorry, but its true. Helluva lot safer there than ATL or Athens. Now Juarez is another story. Don’t believe me, look it up. I’d love to go but a plane ticket is very expensive and it’s a long drive. Not sure I’ll make this one.

The bowl appearance will be the 15th straight for the ACC’s Yellow Jackets (8-4), tied for the fourth-longest active streak among FBS schools. It will be their first appearance in the Sun Bowl since defeating Texas Tech in 1970.

Hey guys, just so you know, even though I go to another school outside of Texas, I’m originally from El Paso. The Sun Bowl has always been a tradition of mine ever since I was a kid. It’s a fun time and the game gets very good local support since this game is the one big sporting event that El Paso has. I will be down for Christmas break so I will most likely be at this game. El Paso is a wonderful city that has very friendly people and a great atmosphere. For those that will be traveling to the game, I hope you enjoy my hometown and we look forward to a great game out here in the Sun City. If anybody has any questions about where to eat, stay, and things to see, please let me know and I will be more than happy to answer anyone’s questions. Thanks!

I am looking forward to the game and hope we get a win. I am happy about the season and already look forward to 2012. We have a very young team with some really great talent. I enjoyed watching win or lose and really appreciate the players.

HighTech…Thank you! I’ll be sure to keep an eye on it if I get a chance. El Paso has always been known for being very hospitable to the out-of-town fans and if you get to see the team arrive, they’ll be greeted by a mariachi band and receive a warm El Paso welcome. Hope all those that are able to attend the game enjoy their time in my hometown.
