GT fans should take an oath to discontinue any silly dialogue that involves UGA. We have got to focus on the GT football program and how to make it better. UGA and GT operate in 2 different universes. It serves no purpose to compare the 2 football programs. GT can be very successful in its own way. That path should not be one that the mimics the UGA program. They are successful in the SEC. We can be successful in the ACC and so be it. I agree with the UGA comments that indicate our inferiority complex when it comes to the 2 programs.

Oh you get your ass handed to you and you want to stop talking trash? Dosen’t work that way. Had GT beaten UGA we would have heard it till next year’s game. But we’ve beaten you so many times it’s getting old for us. GT SUCKS. And will never beat Georgia again. We’ve figured your offense out and so has everyone else. GT is 1-10 vs. Richt.
CPJ Needs to Learn to Respect the SEC
November 27th, 20118:03 am
CPJ was running his mouth earlier this week about how the SEC’s superiority was “overblown.” He said wait until this weekend with 4 ACC-SEC match ups. SEC won those convincingly 3-1 with double digit wins from UGA, Vandy and South Carolina. The only loss was Florida-FSU. Florida is a team in transition with a new coaching staff and scheme on both offense and defense. Once again, the ACC is a “cream puff” conference deserving of its “All Cup Cake” moniker.
CPJ should quit cashing checks with his smart as_ mouth that his own team and conference cannot cover. Tech continues to be worthless, weak and broken.

I love beating the crap out of Tech! you guys will never compare to us even if you win one every 10 years. The ACC is a crap conference!!!
November 27th, 201110:21 am
Can we even call this a rivalry anymore?
November 27th, 201110:25 am
It was fun watching the Dawgs dismantle tech and their arrogant coach. Wonder how CPJ feels about the SEC today?

ACC FOOTBALL – Another Crappy Conference
November 27th, 201110:28 am
Dawgs getting better.. GT not so much.. FSU beats Fla.. Muschamp and Weis are pathetic.. Alabama wins the Iron Bowl.. Spurrier to retire.. Kentucky even beats Tenn.. UGA wins SEC.. East next couple years…
November 27th, 201111:07 am
UGA was clearly better this year and has better athletes. They beat us convincingly without a running game. Big disappointment for the White and Gold.
I’ve not given up on improving our team and beating the Dogs next year. Remember at the start of the season, this was to be a rebuilding year. We’ve done OK and if we can win our bowl, will have 9 wins. Pretty good for an off year.
We do need a quarterback who can pass. Reggie Ball could not and Tevin Washington can not. They are both very good athletes but not the complete package. Tech needs a new competent quarterback who can run the triple option and pass just a little, and one pass rusher, I believe Paul Johnson’s system can win against the Bulldogs.
So don’t give up, Georgia Tech can turn this around.
That's OK guys...
November 27th, 201111:31 am
…Eating Crow, thanks for being realistic – both teams had pretty good teams this year, and both really played above their abilities all year – UGA made some breaks today and took advantage of them.
And, I really get tired of everyone blaming the GT defense – the O was just plain inefficient and was beaten by a better defense today, and CPJ needs to do something other than try the same 5-6 running plays when they do not work (of course, since he does not use a play sheet and keeps calling the plays “that are in his head” he may not be able to keep more than that number of plays in his pea brain). Sure, the QB had a bad day, yet they kept asking him to make throws down the field when just getting the ball to playmakers near the line of scrimmage would have been a better idea – blame that on coaching of the offense, not the defense…
November 27th, 201111:53 am
Why does everyone think we need a quarterback who can pass? The problem is the offensive scheme. We are constantly throwing to smaller running backs who have poor hands. Our 1st attempt to Stephen Hill was in the 3rd quarter. Did we ever throw to Tyler Melton. #88 may have had 1 or two passes thrown this year to him.
CPJ’s whole philosophy is deception. Would you rather throw to a 6-5 receiver or or a 5-8 or less running back?
Why do not ever go to the shotgun? Ever? It’s time CPJ make some changes or we will continue to be just above average.
November 27th, 201112:46 pm
I just watched the replay and our defense was just horrible. UGA had no running game but we never got pressure on Murray and DBs were constantly either out of position or slow to react. I don’t know what the hell Al Groh is teaching them but either the players don’t execute or he’s not having them in the right place. We should have been blitzing like crazy and yet we kept rushing only 4 and sitting back in a soft zone. Maybe if we had a bunch of stud DL’s and could overpower teams that philosophy would work. But we don’t. At least Tenuta understood that we had to do things differently to make up for talent gaps. I’d hate to blow out Groh and start over again but I don’t know if he will ever get it.
Our QB play was awful as well. But, even if our QB play was better we would still have gotten beat as our D can’t stop anything.
Oh well, I bow to the SEC as the kings of big boy football. Good luck UGA against LSU.
November 27th, 20111:10 pm
Its time to end the Paul Johnson experiment. This is gimmick offense that can’t beat anyone who has a decent defense. Clemson has been shown to be a pretender, so that win looks real suspect. Its time to return GT to conventional offense so we can recruit better athlets. I believe CPJ has one year left. Unless he wins 8 games next year, of which GA is one, and a bowl game, he ought to be gone. LSU is my second time, and I am really looking for redemption in the SEC championship game.
November 27th, 20111:20 pm
FS-shotgun is in our playbook-used it once this year, once last year-his arrogant inflexibility to do more like the USAFA multiple looks dooms us if we get behind…his approval level is now down to 25%,infinity higher than chan’s, but dropping-next year is crucial, we need to have more options on O, on D, we will never get the NGs for the 3-4, big nose tackles are guys too dumb to be OTs….at least grohse is old, & so long #96….will be out country for the holidays(in the PI, hey, Ken, you pinoy?), have fun in el paso, if we ever change the academics just for $port$, i’m not in……..Stanford, Purdue, Norttwestern,Rice, Vandy, Duke, the Academies, us, not along list, maybe we should start our own league, like the ivies & the patriots, or maybe U of Chicago was right….texas has their drum now, slightly radioactive because it was stored next to the world’s first nuclear reactor…..not interested in the ignorant/cynical/infantile retorts, switching to roundball…..my thanks to the 3 dawg fans next to me for being good sports(1 was even the DD!).a happy Advent on this the first Sunday of Advent, esp. to CMR(he knows what i mean)
November 27th, 20111:23 pm
How many teams do you need?
November 27th, 20111:30 pm
Well Dawg 48, I believe that LSU will do. Given that UGA hasn’t really played a good team since SC, and that includes GT, let’s see how you do against another team that wears white and gold.
November 27th, 20111:37 pm
Old Gold, my first 2 teams are Der Mannshaft und Bayern-Muenchen………
November 27th, 20111:39 pm
Redbirds have moved past the jackets for third……….college $potr$ really pro now, may as well go pro-I’M GOING TO BRASIL!
November 27th, 20111:57 pm
don’t really know how good the Dawgs are but, sure is fun to be 10-2. I think we will put up a better fight against LSU than Arkansas, but who knows. At least we have the chance, I know a lot of other teams that would like to be playing for their conference championship. Can you think of any……….
November 27th, 20112:09 pm
Born2buzz , Georgia didn’t need its running game, big difference than not having one. Richt was kind not to run up the score.
November 27th, 20112:28 pm
Kb, UGA tried to run but couldn’t. Look at the stats. 17 rushes by the TBs for 45 yds. But it didn’t matter.
And for everybody down on CPJ, he’s still won more games in his first 4 years than any other GT coach did. Could it have been a better year? Sure. But go back and look at the predictions at the start of the season and you’ll see a lot of folks that would have been surprised with 8-4. Remember, this was a very young team. Next year will be better. Vad Lee could make a big difference.
November 27th, 20112:44 pm
tech’s chop blocking is dangerous for defensive guys. I would not have a problem dropping them until they get away from that style offense. Almost every game their blockers injure someone. They are not big enough so they resort to a gimmick blocking scheme. legal but just barely
November 27th, 20112:57 pm
Actually your incorrect in stating that chop blocking is barely legal. Chop blocking is illegal, and carries a 15 yard penalty. What GT does is cut block, which is legal. I would not be opposed to the rules committee making cut blocks illegal, and perhaps then we could usher CPJ out the door, and return to a big boy offense.
November 27th, 20112:59 pm
Coach Paul Johnson does not call it “chop blocking”
November 27th, 20114:33 pm
Both teams did just as the AJC predicted at the beginning of the year. Prediction was GA to lose the first two and then win the rest, finish 10-2. GT was to win the first seven, then lose to Miami, Clemson, VT, and GA. Except for Tech being upset by UVA and then upsetting Clemson, it went as predicted. Not sure why all the discussion. Kudos to the AJC prognosticators.
November 28th, 20111:03 pm
Great win for the Dawgs! I actually felt sorry for Washington on Saturday. Imagine how he feels throwing those interceptions and then having to come over to the sidelines and have Johnson curse at him and yell at him. I don’t know why anyone worth a scholarship anywhere else would go to tech and have to listen to Johnson’s foul mouth.. Then I would remember that cut block from behind on Tyson that injured his ankle and I think we should have put 2 more TD’s on the board. Cut Blocks should be disallowed!
Die HARD UGA Fan
November 28th, 20111:53 pm
We came away with a lucky one against Tech. Hopefully we can pull it off next week against LSU.
November 28th, 20111:56 pm
We did pretty good this year winning the games we were expected to. I don’t think the SEC is as good as I try to make it out to be though. It seems like we only have two good teams and the rest suck. It’s why we always have a team in the national championship. Our conference is so easy that we always have undefeated teams in it.
It's just football
November 29th, 201111:13 am
Why is the tech blog on AJC so boring? Even the above troll remarks don’t get anyone arguing
November 29th, 20112:35 pm
I think the blog is boring because all the wind has been knocked out of too many Tech fans’ sails. I had high hopes that first year when CPJ beat UGA between the hedges, but now it has become painfully apparent that it was a complete fluke. The only real bright spot this season was the Clemson game. The 6-0 start fooled a lot of people, but most of those games were gimmes against pushover opponents.
I fully expect Tech to get beaten by its opponent in whatever bowl game it goes to. CPJ has proven repeatedly that he can’t motivate his players against UGA or in the postseason. He can yell at them and he can order them around, but he can’t motivate them, and that will be his undoing more than anything else.
November 29th, 20117:05 pm
Smitty……..totally untrue…there is NO pattern of injuries due to CUT blocking.
BLOOD TYPE: RED & BLACK
November 29th, 20118:37 pm
When will Tech fans become LSU fans? I’m guessing around Thursday. You know it is a great year for UGA when Tech has to resort to becoming Florida, LSU, Auburn, etc fans b/c their team completely blows.
So sad….so sad.
November 29th, 20119:17 pm
Paul Johnson sucks and so does Al Groh! Period.
November 29th, 20119:19 pm
If GT loses its bowl again, which I am darn sure they will, Paul Johnson will get fired and rightfully so!
November 29th, 201111:09 pm
Why anyone would allow thier sons to I be called everything but a gentleman by a foul mouth coach like cpj I dont know and why tech allows him to abuse them verbley makes no sence to me and then tech fan get on this blog and talk about class. when thier coach is saying gd gd gd mf and they call this class.
November 30th, 201111:34 am
OK HERES THE DEAL, BEING A UGA GRAD, AND I DID OK IN LIFE, I LOVE PJ BECAUSE ITS HIS WAY OF LOSING OR ELSE. LETS THINK A MINUTE, IF I CHOP BLOCK THEN IM NOT GOING TO BLOCK ANYONE ELSE ON THAT PLAY, THAT IS IGNORANT, SO I LOVE HIS STUPIDITY ON HIS THEORY OF FOOTBALL. PLEASE DO NOT FIRE HIM BECAUSE I ENJOY BEATING THEM EVERY YEAR ON AND OFF THE FIELD BUSINESS WISE. SLIDE RULES ARE NOT IN ANY MORE. I HEAR JOE PA IS AVAILABLE, HE WOULD BE A PERFECT FIT FOR ga tech. ALSO ARE THEY NOT THE LOWEST IN GRAD RATES? tech is great.
November 30th, 20111:55 pm
Hey Red and Black. As to your comment about when Tech fans will become LSU fans or some other team. You bet by Thursday. I say why wait till Thursday. I became an LSU fan after they beat Arkansas last Friday. Go Tigers!
November 30th, 20114:28 pm
@The Dude, shouldn’t you be looking for someone to replace your pissed on carpet? And be careful with that beverage!
November 30th, 20114:32 pm
Red and Black, Tech had a better season than anyone expected. I plan to pull for Georgia, but I expect you’d rather me not to pull for them. Of course your opinion means nothing to me.
November 30th, 20115:04 pm
Has anyone seen “the Institute” lately? Seems he sure talked a lot before the game, but haven’t seen him since.
