3:17 pm November 26, 2011, by Ken Sugiura
Three quick thoughts.
1. Missed opportunities in the first half. The first play, not scoring a touchdown after reaching the Georgia 2-yard line, the timeout on the missed field goal. I’m hardly convinced it would have made a difference, but it reduced the Jackets’ margin considerably. The third quarter extinguished it completely.
2. The Tech pass defense didn’t cut it. Most times, Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray had time to throw and open targets to throw to. Sub-par all the way around.
3. Tech proved again it can run the ball. Against the No. 2 run defense, the Jackets cleared 225 yards. However, it wasn’t nearly, nearly enough. The Jackets needed some sort of big play or three – a blocked punt, a long punt return, an interception taken back for a touchdown, an 80-yard touchdown run – and couldn’t summon it.
What do you think?

Tech sucks! That’s 3 wins in a row and 10 wins out of the last 11 years. If CPJ can’t start winning against Georgia, he’ll be gone. For GT, it’s all about beating Georgia, which they can’t do.

Tech only rushed for 244 yards. That’s shutting them down. They usually run for 400 to even 600. But not today. Our defense played great. (As always). Who we gotta beat to prove we’re a great team?

If we happen to beat LSU, people will start saying LSU has no offense. They are ranked 75th in the nation in total offense. If we pull off the upset that’s what they’ll bring up. So pathetic. No matter who we beat, they’ll bring something up to pour salt on it. That’s a hater for you. FACT is we’ve won 10 straight games from starting 0-2. Can’t beat that. LSU is going to get our all next week.

If we are ever going to progress we have to 1) be able to get a pass rush, and 2) get a passing game. Tevin has really struggled the second half of the year. I think Vad willt help the latter but the 1st one has been a problem since Derrick Morgan left.
Congrats to the dawgs and hope the beat LSU.

“Tech proved again it can run the ball. Against the No. 2 run defense, the Jackets cleared 225 yards.”
Oh good grief enough with this crap already. They run the ball 80% of the time. OF COURSE they’re going to gain 225 yards on the ground. That’s not a great offense. Its just math. They would run for 200 yards against the Green Bay Packers and get blown out of the damn building 100-0. It doesn’t have anything to do with anything. They are going to get their rushing yards because its all they know how to do. If only the game of football were that simple.
Class dismissed.

So with Chan, we had to wait for years and the damage was done. How long we wait with Johnson? How many more years of this do we go through? 1-3 vs Va Tech, 1-3 vs UGA, 0-3 in bowls . . . a whopping 2-9 in our 3 biggest games. Soon to be 2-10 ???? Time for him to step down with some dignity and give someone else a chance.

Bottom line: we got outplayed in every phase, we lacked the intensity I thought we’d have and we got seriously outcoached.
The 3-4 will never work here. Time to take the defense in another direction because it’s highly doubtful we’ll ever get the type of linemen equired to make it work. Tech spent way too much time worrying about Georgia’s running game, an inexcusable bit of coaching.

We’re prolly headed to Music City/Belk bowl. Doesn’t matter anyway.
While I prefer the 3-4 scheme, this season we simply didn’t have the players for it.
Walls, Barnes, etc. not gonna cut it. We need those 300 pound linemen for the 3-4. And massive inside linebackers as well… none of which we have. Only thing we have is a decent (although young, therefore inexperienced & prone to mistakes) secondary. Looking at the roster, I don’t see that sort of talent you need to implement the 3-4 (and none on the way either: Kallon is too small)… the “pro” style defense needs playmakers… and we’ve got none.
I’m giving CAG another season to improve… then I’m calling for his head too.
Tevin Washington, good bye. I’d like to see Synjyn Days & Vad Lee (if he stays here) compete for the starting spot next spring… I like Synjyn – he’s built a lot more like Nesbitt. Just needs to cut down on the fumbles.

Ya’ll are right Dawg fans; once again Tech loses. It is tough pulling for a team that has, over my last 36 years, been a little brother to Georgia. It is disheartening to not have a team that wins consistently. Today I pulled for the Dawgs for a few minutes thinking that if I pulled for them they might actually start sucking. Didn’t happen though. But when you’re a fan of a team, you’re just a fan of the team. Losing is something you have to get used to in life, it teaches you humility. Hopefully in my lifetime Tech will once again put together a strong program, a team that when I turn the TV on, it’s just a given that they win. Until then, enjoy your victory, I’m going to move on myself.

You Techies had a good year – had some good wins – send your seniors out with a good bowl win. CPJ runs the type of offense that allows you to have the best chance with the talent you draw – but, as a negative, nobody with NFL aspirations is going to play in that scheme. That is going to hurt your recruiting as long as he is there. Good luck with your bowl game………..See Ya’ Next year!

Georgia’s players would be the first to say that outside Aaron Murray they didn’t play near their capabilities today and still they beat us rather handily. That is what has me disheartened.
CPJ could never explain the logic of the two INTs inside the 10….while I’m not all that crazy about the spread option, it CAN work but at some point, especially when the chips are down (meaning bad field position) he needs to do what it is he does and not step outside his boundaries and help out the opposition.

Relish your win over Kansas. That WAS the highpoint of your season. Music City Bowl, or worse…
365 more days for today’s win to eat at you. And like so many UGA fans have repeatedly said: GT barely registers on UGA’s mind at all each year. That is, until your over the top hubris and baseless bravado becomes so infuriatingly irritating that we can’t wait to stomp you back into your nest in the ground. (As we do with remarkable regularity). And once we do, and relish the silence from you as you sulk for a week, we become reminded of your insignificance to what we consider important, and we move on with our agenda, knowing that the annual cycle of predictable behavior will repeat itself around spring practice.

Tevin threw some of the worst passes I have ever seen. he was not on the same page with the WRs ever today. The First was an easy TD if the B-Back sees hill and throws it earlier instead of the Sky High DUCK in the middle of the field.

I’m not a CPJ hater but I’m not at all wild about the 3-4 because the personnel simply isn’t there for it. It’s not now and it doesn’t appear likely to change any time soon. missed opportunities? Talk about Denial!
UGA missed opportunities to make this a total blowout…a missed FG and no points following an INT and this thing would have been 45 – 17. Just say congrats and wuit making excuses. The running game proved worthy again? Yeah right…almost 100 yards below the season avg and 1.3 yds per carry shaved off the season avg. Yeah…they proved they could run it again.

Let me try and explain this to you in fewer syllables so you can understand. And first, understand that what you are about to read isn’t post-game gloating. It’s sincere sentiment that most UGA fans feel about GT and GT fans.
First, you really are very, very insignificant to us up until the week(s) just before the game.
Out of our entire annual schedule, only the cupcake OOC games (NSM, CC this year) are of less significance to us. The teams we focus on, in order of priority are: UF, Auburn, UT, SC, Vandy (now, thanks to the post-game skirmish and the desire to “finish business” there next year), the Missy sisters, GT (for state ownership), and the cupcake scrimmages.
Second, the only reason we become even aware of your existence just before our annual show-down is because by then your boorish behavior, classless cowardice (how proud of the website celebrating Munson’s passing, are you?), unending and unearned arrogance becomes so sickening and deafening that we can’t wait to destroy simply to shut you up. Which we consistently do. For a few weeks, then like the whiny, irritating and despised little brother that you are, you resume the entire repertoire again, right from the opening number. Tiring, pathetic, and what was once entertaining has now just become pointless noise. Do both schools a favor and just go away – forever. Drop the football program, join the C-USA, whatever, just go play by yourself for a few decades or just go away and stop being such childish brats.

To all GT fans, I just wanted to say that you are still in a LOT better position than some of the talking heads said you would be, most of the “experts” predicted a 6-7 season, again, with the talent that you guys lost last year to have an IMPROVED record is a GREAT accomplishment. It was a good game and no one was injured and I thought both teams showed good sportsmanship. Good Luck in your bowl game and we will see you in Athens next year. Cheer on the Dawg next week.

Thanks Right On Time, I’m the only Tech fan out of a multitude of friends and family that are UGA fans. Needless to say, football isn’t discussed and I’m more like a black sheep. By all rights I should be a Dawg fan but have always had the tendency to pull for the underdog, which Tech has been for a very long time. So it is, maybe a bowl win, maybe not. There is a lot to look forward to next year; new President maybe, better economy hopefully, maybe a better Tech team. By the way, congratulations on the win, Georgia Bulldogs.

Tech fans, don’t dump on CPJ so much. He simply got beaten by a better Georgia team this season. Remember Chan Gailey? Successive 7-5 seasons AND consistent losses to Georgia? Remember, Johnson’s beaten Georgia once and has won the ACC once in four years at the most academically challenging school in the ACC (yes, I’ll admit that, and I’m a Georgia and UNC graduate). Sinjin Days moved the ball through the air effectively, and from what I have heard Vad Lee is a decent passer, as well, so there will be an opportunity to improve that phase of the offense next year. Y’all need some big defensive linemen, pure and simple. Otherwise, the 3-4 is not as effective.
Good luck in your bowl game!

I saw two pretty well coached teams play today. Neither team seemed to lose its composure or commit many stupid penalties. Tech Fans, I am a Georgia fan and I think CPJ needs to have more balance offensively. If y’all attempted 20 passes per game and with the way you run the ball you would own the ACC and would win more against us than you do. When every body in the stadium knows you have to pass, then that’s the most difficult time to complete a pass especially when your QB throws so very few passes per game. If y’all attempted more passes in practice, it would help your receivers run their routes better and help your DB’s in pass coverage. If any Coach can win 9 games every year at Tech, considering the academic requirements and so few special admits, then he should get a Paul Hewitt contract. Talent is biggest difference in our teams. Kids go to Tech to get a degree and play college football. Kids go to UGA to get a degree and play pro football. Those are two distinctly different calibers of athletes. I wish you well in your bowl game!

Ken;
You are spot on – dropped passes, not scoring a TD on the drive to the Georgia 2, the secondary for sure – and add the inability to pressure Murray; when Georgia flew down the field at the end of the second quarter and scorred 3 – it was going to be a long day. Tech’s only hope was to make it a scoring contest – and that was lost when it had to settle for 3 at the Georgia 2. Also Tech’s QB tended to hesitate and put the burden on his own shoulders on several plays where he should have pitched.
Still the game deciding factor was not so much talent but age and maturity difference between the Georgia offensive line and Tech’s defense.
This Tech guy wishes the best to Georgia as it faces Tigers. The difference in that game may also boil down to line play … specifically Georgias offensive line versus the Tiger Defense

The issue with Tech hasn’t changed, namely – the school simply can not recruit the same type of talent top to bottom that the big schools can (Yes UGA is a Big School)
Until Tech can get the same level of athletes, and I am not talking one or two standouts like Megatron, but top to bottom depth, they simply will never consistently beat UGA.
I think someone earlier mentioned it, PJ’s time here has been good overall, but in the biggest games, against the best quality of opponents, GT comes up short. Winning 7 games in the mediocre ACC does not make a good team.

I have to give it to the DAWGS…. they played….. OK. On the other hand, GT did not play OK. Furthermore, there did not seem to be much desire in Tevin Washington. He is not Nesbitt, and he has lost his passing mojo. Days proved that much. This regular losing is really getting to be annoying. Maybe we should see if OLeary will come back. Hey Tech Tony, thanks and I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday. @ UT-GT, I told some of my friends that if the same team that played the Mildcats last week showed up this week we were in trouble. I think that CPJ is a good coach, but I don’t think that I would say that I would be worried about the game. You guys are missing the LINES, both your Offensive and Defensive lines are small and I think that you can hang with anyone for about 2 quarters, but then the size starts to make a difference. Now let CPJ get a QB with an arm and some BIG linemen, then I will be worried. I also wanted to add that I think that you guys may have the QB thing taken care of in a year or so, that Freshman you guys RSed this year is going to be pretty good from what I hear.

I am sick and tired of losing to UGA. If our coaches can’t recruit good enough players to be competitive, then fire them NOW. I have come to the conclusion that this coach will never change the offense. With this horrid offense in place, we will never be able to pass effectively or recruit good offensive talent. In addition, the defense suffers because they never practice against a decent passing offense. He will take it and the Tech program to his grave. This will be the norm for our team. Beat some weak teams and lose to the good ones. No passing, inconsistent defense, and horrible special teams. With no upside.
Maybe Vad Lee will enable the offense more. Personally I would like to have seen Days play this year because of his size and speed. TW is way too limited skillwise to be playing against the big boys. Regardless, finding a QB who can beat the big teams in this offense will be once a decade. Hate to see this happen to our program, but this is getting frustrating.

I’ll bet if we had a QB that could actually read a Defense and pass, CPJ would do it more often. The fundamentals of this offense to open it up is there. You have to admit that there are guys wide open all over the place when we throw. We just can’t seem to hit them or they drop it.
Coaches put guys in position to make plays. They can’t do it for them too.

Well guess what we did and now instead of giving Vad some game experince this year we will have another green QB next year. Now if we loose recruits like we did last year after the season was over we deserve it. Why in the world did CPJ stick with tevin ball ? 2nd—-I’m thru supporting Al Groh. Why you ask? How many illegal substitution penalties did we get because he couldn’t get the right defense on the field in time. He over schemed the running game knowing they were likely down to normal bench warmers at RB. He under schemed the passing game knowing full well what a stable of healthy receivers Georgie has with a more than adequate QB to pass the ball down field. I’ll give Paul Johnson 1 more year of my support in hopes that he can develop some type of at least a 50% percent passing game. Neither 1 of them seem able to motivate their players. These young men need MOTIVATING. And we all know about the ills of the kicking game. Way too many bad kicks period. One punt goes 60 yards or more, the next goes 25 -30. One KO goes thru the EZ, the next goes to the 10 or 15 if that deep. I doubt they would even look at that Tn. kid that Sam has been pushing all season long. We were capable of keeping this game close enough to be winnable, but they shot themselves in the foot too many times. Oh well, it is what it is and I still love GT, but I hate this miserable feeling, especially over 1 lousy game and even more so for being 1-10 against Richt. Groh’s defensive scheme does not match with PJ’s offense. We need an aggressive, pressure defense (ala Tenuta) to force some 3 and outs and some turnovers. It may result in some big plays, but it doesn’t leave our offense on the sideline while the opposition moves the ball downfield in chunks with short passes (with no pressure on the QB). Groh’s scheme is “bend-don’t-break” and it ultimately breaks too often.
Groh’s gotta go.

Not sure we are going to have much to cheer about next year either with this coaching staff. 4 yrs later and we simply are not progressing. Today was dismal with too many mistakes, poor qb play, lack of defensive prepartion and execution – just all around not up to div 1 football. We are a young team so hopefully we will get better next year. VT consistently puts a very competitve team on the field year in and year out. They do it with consistent coaching on both sides of the ball and outstanding special teams. There is absolutely no reason we cannot do the same. However, we need the coaching staff to do that and we simply have not had good coaching since Oleary/Fridgen. Time to put some serious thought into this coaching staff.

Ken, just a short note to tell you how much I enjoy your blog, and the way you deliver both info and facts; very reminiscent of how real sportswriters did so in the old days.
Reality and perception…as a UGA fan of LONG standing- 3 letters under CWB- I was firmly convinced that we would use our size, line up and run it at y’all all day long; sadly, for you guys, that seems to be what you believed and prepared for as well. After the Ky. game, who could blame you. So much for reality.
What surprises me is the flak your fan base seems to be giving CPJ, who by all the reports I have gotten from Ga Southern folk, is one heck of a good guy, as well as being a great coach, which I believe him to be. His offense is exactly what GT needs because he does NOT have to recruit head to head on a consistent basis with the UA, AU, Fla and the UGA’s of the world…except on defense. There is where the 4 and 5 stars CAN and would shine and be able to play at the next level. I fail to understand why more emphasis is not placed the defense in your recruiting efforts.
Just think, if your D was capable of throwing 3 and outs routinely and you kept running your O not much better than you do now, you might NEVER lose. Again, that is perception. Reality? Who knows!
In the meantime, keep the faith, do well in your bowl, have grand holidays and hopefully, we’ll have at it again next year….and in passing, it is during this season that I miss my old fishing partner, and son’s Godfather, the most! A greater guy you would never meet…and an All Amreican end from Ga Tech, as have been many of my friends- Gnats- over this 75 year sojurn, and that really is reality

Charleston Jacket – I think calls for wholesale changes on the coaching staff are premature. Look at Auburn. “National Championship” last year, this year they get truly blown out by Georgia and Alabama. They have the youngest team playing FBS football. Tech has the 2nd-youngest.
One of the senior DBs for Tech this year got pushed so far down on the depth chart 2 years ago you couldn’t find him. He started this season out of necessity. Logan Walls has graduated, and someone is going to have to replace him full time next year. Barnes may or may not be the guy; he’s 6-7 and nearly 350 but doesn’t play a lot. I didn’t notice him today. Sylvester will be gone at OLB, as will Peters at DE. Both of the backup DEs, Dieke and Cummings are rs-sophs. If Holton returns strong form his injury, he should be an upgrade; the guy is a physical beast according to the players.
The 3-4 has been a disappointment in that the reason it is employed is to better deal with the kind of passing attacks that Tech saw today, last week, the week before that, Miami and against Clemson. Only against Clemson, and sporadically, VT has it produced results. With a 3-4, you have to be very physical at NT and at ILB, and have one of both OLBs be a premiere pass rusher as well as be able to cover the outside run. It looks like Attaochu is going to develop into that. Burnette plays very physical, but he isn’t that big. Nealy, a rs-freshman looks like he is developing well.
Other than the 4 starters on defense I mentioned, everybody else is back. Only Jones, Peeples, Melton and Lyons on the offense will not be back. I don’t think it’s time to just tear everything apart.

Today was the first time I have truly been disappointed in CPJs coaching. That said, I am a CPJ fan and he will make adjustments he needs to win. I am amazed at the impatience that college football fans show toward their coach when these same fans would never want such standards and criticism to be applied to themselves in their own professions. Congrats to UGA.
And let this be an apology on behalf of Tech fans for

Congratulations to the dawgs. The better team won today. Have t give the dawgs credit for turning the team around after the two early losses.
As for Jackets, DawginLex is right. Problem isn’t coaching but a lack of talent. We need a QB who can hit open recievers and at least make the other team respect the pass a little. And we have to have some Defensive linemen who can put some pressure on the passer.
I think most Tech fans understood we had these problems coming into the season. Unfortunately, the good start likely raised expectations a little above what this bunch could accomplish. Good news is that I thik we will be improved next year.

“Attendance was 54,925, which was 75 short of capacity. The Tech student section was not completely full.”
That is a quote from Ken in his story about the Sun Bowl. I will be very interested to see the report from the consultant Dan Radakovich hired to assess the attendance issue. At the VT game, 2 Georgia fans were sitting behind me. We had a long discussion during halftime. They work for ATT across the way from the stadium. It turned out that each attended high schools that my kids did. They said they were given the tickets by 1 of the “400 Tech grads they work with” and came to root against Tech. I had no problem with that, and we had a lot of good discussion.
The feeling I have is that many of the current Tech students and recent grads (I had not been to any games in the last several years, and I am not a grad myself) aren’t the guys I grew up with and worked with for many years. The student body is changing, and it is obviously increasingly difficult to get the necessary background for attending schools like Tech, due in part to the state’s ongoing issues with science and math education. I’d like to see the demographics of the student body. I also think it is also due to kids in the area not being focused on football as most southern kids were of earlier generations. In small-town Georgia, that was a huge focus in my generation.
Any number of a host of other factors may have something to do with the issue. Years ago, I and one of our company’s other managers had 2 Masters tickets each to invite a couple of managers in our client organization to attend. We ended up just giving the tickets to them because were were both burned out by the job.

Okay, after a while to relax and take things in stride I feel like I can comment without exploding
1. End the 3-4 experiment, Tech will not and cannot recruit the size needed. Any HS D lineman at 315-320 and quick will have offers at AL, LSU, GA ect. It is quicker and easier to recruit to a 4-3, Tech has always been able to recruit linebackers.
2. The QB competition in the spring had best be intense. Even today Tech had recievers open for good gains IF the ball had been delivered accurately. I don’t want to hear this O is not conducive to passing. The routes are there, we’ve seen it all year.
3. Every lineman in the weight room as much as possible in the offseason. S&C is the key to growth in power and endurance.
4. In my opinion it is time to part ways with Al Groh. I just don’t think he is a good fit.
As I said before the game win or lose I will be a fan of Tech and nothing will ever change that!
Congrats to GA on a well played game.

Georgia tek thumped from top 25.
31-17.
Paul Johnson, known for his irresponsible reckless statements, hit UGA fans in the face and get back to our jobs at Walmart as a retard, speciously has no clue as to who his Quarterback is.
Call a guy a college quarterback, and then send him out there for all us to see that his passes were 30 yards away from his receivers he was trying to throw to, including on 4th down.
As Tevin Washington, the # 60 Quarterback the same recruiting class as Aaron Murray went back to the sidelines away from our seats, you could see Paul Johnson looking at Tevin and asking him : What was that ?
I could not make out Tevin Washington’s reply, but he was motioning his arm about how he threw the football.
# 112 Passing Offense of Georgia tek. Are you kidding me that there are 8 worse passing teams in all of America ?
# 56 Scoring Defense playing the # 55 Strength of Schedule, there was never any doubt Georgia tek would lose for the 10th time in the 11 seasons of this Mark Richt.
# 106 in kick-off returns, # 64 in punt returns and # 64 in net punting, special teams were a total flop for Georgia tek to add fuel to this fire of not knowing whom their Quarterback is after the entire regular season is over for Georgia tek.
# 96 tackles for loss in the nation, Georgia tek could not stop UGA, again. It was a dominating performance of a characteristically typical underperformer. It sits stuck on 39 wins out of 119 years for Georgia tek in football against its only Rival, while of course, UGA’s Rivals are Florida, South Carolina, Auburn, LSU, Alabama, and Tennessee – in short real opponents.
I had forgotten how lousy Georgia tek’s engineering marvel of a stadium, named for a college drop-out, is. Like their basketball gymnasium with a former coach’s name on the court, whom they ran out of town on a rail, their football stadium engineering is just atrocious. Talk about depressed; I was able to keep focused that this is not our miserable stadium down in the glum of the slums. It makes you unhappy to walk in the dilapidated flat.

Dawg48 – Tech had some big 1st play TDs against lesser opponents earlier this year. I was thinking at the beginning of today’s game, “Don’t throw the bomb on the 1st play.” Washington has not shown that he is warmed up, psyched up or whatever up to be successful on those throws since about the 1st 4 or 5 games. I have been a Tech fan for over 40 years. It is long past time that Tech fans stop settling for winning seasons and toilet bowl invites. Paul Johnson came in and beat Georgia in his first season and has lost to them every year since. It dawned on me today that Tech has taken the position that we are not supposed to beat Georgia and the 1 in 10 years when we do we rejoice like we have conquered the world. Think about it, major colleges that are consistantly in the top of the polls DO NOT tolerate coaches that can’t win the big games. Look at Mark Richt, his job was on the line after the first two games and he knew it. I like Paul but his coaching style and offense along with Al Groh’s defense (if you can call it that) will keep Tech as a mediocre team and the laughing stock of the State of Georgia. It’s time for a major change. Paul needs to rethink his offense or take a position with another team. Al Groh simply needs to go. The players can only play as good as the direction they are given and the current direction is not good enough. It’s time somebody with the power to do something about it lets Paul know that his job is on the line.

Congrats to the dawg! You all have much better talent than we do. Wish we could get some of those 4 or 5 star guys, then we could make it a contest.
We need defensive linemen and offensive linemen and a QB that can throw more accurately. Hopefully Vad can provide that accuracy. Don’t know what happened to TW after the first 4 games. He was on target, and since then, it has been too many over throws. Seems the practice over the summer must have helped him, but during the season after the first 4 games or so, the sharpness was gone. Was it a lack of practice throwing? That provides a strong additional option. Need another Johnathan Dwyer type as well.
The season turned out much better than I expected. I thought it would be another CG type season, 6 or 7 wins, so we did 1 or two better than I thought given our loss of talent last year.
I would think that we could get some really good recruits that could start immediately and be able to show their stuff against teams like UGA and VT, rather than going to those schools and sitting on the pine, like Hudson Mason or Christian LeMay. Those two will be lucky to get to start a game in their career with Murray ahead of them. Come on recruits, help us get our own dream team rather than sitting on the bench at UGA!!

I have no issues with the offense Tech runs, it is flexible but it needs a QB that can throw the ball accurately to be at its best. Like I posted earlier, the QB competition in the spring better be highly intensive and let the best all around QB emerge. I look forward to seeing Vad Lee perform. Synjyn looked better today and showed off a decent arm. Every game Tech’s played there are open recievers but Tevin just hasn’t delievered a good pass with any consistency.

I don’t know if it’s Groh’s coaching, his scheme, or our material, but we have no defense, and if that doesn’t change (whatever it takes to make that change), then we will continue to lose. That being said, I still love the Jackets and I will always hate the dawgs

I saw something in the AJC last week or so that said $150,000 thru this year with an option for next year. Johnson was quoted as saying “I will bring Groh back. Why wouldn’t I bring him back”? I hope today’s defensive failure convinced CPJ that’s not too good an idea. As for putting CPJ on an official notice of “do better or be gone”, no problem here. If there is not marked improvement on both sides of the ball (passing effectively) and at the very least be competitive with Georgie next year (as in within 6 points at most with a good chance to win) BE GONE! Right now, I could deal with no ACC championship and beating Georgie than the reverse better that losing to Georgie and winning it all. I hate Georgie and losing to them that much.

Delbert, I think with Synjyn and Vad we have two QBs that are viable long term. One thing that holds a QB back in the offense are the reads and the timing of the reads. CPJs QBs at Navy usually didn’t start until their JR year (obviously no RS at the USNA) because it takes that long to truly understand all the offense and reads. If you remember everybody was raving about how quickly Vad was picking up the offense early but he, like most FR QB, hit the wall. He needs to get bigger/stronger and I look forward to seeing him in the spring. I thnk whoever comes out the leader in spring practice will have truly earned the position.

One other thing about an “option” QB, a spread option QB in the shotgun has significantly less reads in the run game than one under center. Most young QBs are coming up in a shotgun spread and are more polished in the passing game. I like CPJ’s spread option when is it run to its best simply because you are always going to get man coverage in the secondary.

GTPak – Hutson Mason played in a spread offense in high school at Lassiter (Rush Propst’s “Hoover HS” offense) that was very pass-heavy. He was an intended walk-on at Georgia because he was a fan. When he had the great 2-game run in the state playoffs, he got national attention along with an offer from Georgia. I haven’t seen enough of him in the past 2 years to see if he is a good runner. Murray is, that’s for sure. After Murray leaves, I think the plan is to play LeMay, since he was the high-profile QB recruit. I don’t know if LeMay is one of those dual-threat type QBs.

14-42 …. SEC record of the teams UGA beat this season. Only Auburn finished WITHOUT a losing record, and they were 4-4.
UGA’s SEC win streak is as bad or worse than all the “cupcakes” GT burst out to a 6-0 start against.
But congrats on beating the crappy GT team. Funny how much better UGA’s opponents become AFTER a Win.
Again, optimism follows win streaks. A bad dose of reality is coming on 12/3 though. And I believe a 2nd dose in their bowl game. But 2012 looks promising.

OJF, the reason’s that Tech will not be able to compete for a National title under Paul are:
1. Too time consuming to score.
2. Not designed to come from behind.
3. Real teams are actually beginning to figure it out and defend it. How many years has he been there and what has happened to his record? (It’s getting worse each year)
I agree that a much better quarterback than the two that he has had will make a difference but I do not see that quarterback coming to Tech. Why? What future do they have at the next level? None. Not with Paul’s offense. I think that Tech will have winning seasons under Paul but that’s it as long as he has control over the schedule. Their big wins will be luck.

GTECHblue, intersting points but I respectfully disagree.
1. Too time consuming, look at the number of 1 play, 50 yard plus plays this offense has had. Yes, I know some of them were against inferior teams but the offense is designed for explosive plays.
2. If you have a QB who is accurate with the ball, again, quick strikes are there as you always have man coverage on the recievers.
3. Real teams figure out ANY offense be it pro set, I back, split backs, spread, pistol. There are no supersecret or unstoppable offenses.
Why would any quaterback go to any school? There are 32 starting QBs in the NFL, the chances of ANY QB paying in the NFL is about the slimmest option any player can have. There are 120 D 1 schools and you can’t think each of those starting QBs realistically think they are going to be a NFL QB. I think the stats show the NFL drafts no more than 12 QB every years and than equates to 10% of the startind QB in Div1 and obviously that is misleading since not every starter is a senior.

The folks on here that know me also know I am not afraid to call out or question coaching at Tech. I’ve been very critical of CAG and I see nothing that would make me want him back next year. I have had my criticism of CPJ as well but as I’ve asked before, who would you bring in that you think would do a better job at this point in time? Someone suggested ( I hope tongue in cheek) Urban Meyer! C’mon! I would like to know who out there that is SO much better than CPJ at this time!

Supersize,
Ross averaged less than 8 wins per season and bailed 18 months after the end of his one great season because we didn’t have the $$$ to keep him…..the same will happen to any other flash in the pan Tech gets lucky in hiring. O’Leary again averaged right at 8 wins per season and after his offensive genius left he was clueless and left partly because he got sick of the unrealistic expectations of this fanbase. And besides, and here’s the kicker, BOTH Ross and O’Leary had the advantage NO Tech coach will ever have again…..each recruited under far more relaxed entrance requirements tthan any coach since or any ever will again. I’d bet upwards of 75% of those starters on those teams would never be admitted into Tech now…..especially under Ross but O’Leary wasn’t much better.

Tech Forever, we will never know for sure, but if Ross hadn’t wanted to go to the pros, I think he would have stayed, and I think he would have continued to produce. I had lots of problems with O’Leary, but the fact is, he did beat some damn good teams, and he won 3 in a row over UGA. I agree about the recruiting, and that’s why a coach like Johnson who doesn’t have to rely on highly recruited players on offense to make his system work CAN succeed. Defensive recruiting has GOT to improve though.

From a dawg fan…..
I fear CPJ more than chan e en O leary and ralf when they were together.
It is hard to prepare for the option.
You can’t do it in one week. Uga had to take a few days in the spring to practice for it just for tis game. And it hurts you as a team like ” UGA” when you have to take days out of your spring practice just to focus on one team.
If tech had a strong defense they can be a power house with that type of offense.
Look at bama at how they play they force 3 and outs and eat up clock using the run game.
Just my opinion

The direction in which our football program is heading has to be unsettling to everyone. The alumni, fans, boosters, etc need to help get a REAL coach who does not flop against tougher opposition. You can say all you want, “Youre not a Tech fan, blah blah”. I have been watching Tech since 1997, and I want this program to succeed. The result is the same and it takes better talent to change that result…..and the one thing Tech really can’t get, or at least, will forever struggle to get, is better talent. Tech Forever–that fits me also–born that way in 1944. I’ve played. I’ve watched. I’ve studied. I’ve loved. No other game draws me like football. 1st–we must improve defensively. Play with focused intensity consistently. 2nd–we MUST have a QB capable of running the CPJ offense that consistently passes with 50-60% effectiveness. With this offense, if your QB can pass well, there will always be open receivers. 3rd–we MUST have a better kicking game with better return game both ways. 4th–we must have a top notch strength and conditioning program and coach. With good coaching and recruiting, these items are doable. The right athletes (they don’t have to be rocket scientists) can be brought in to GT. Thus fulfilling my hopes for GT athletics, in particular football. Not saying it would be easy, but once we made these improvements a consistent reality, it would begin to become somewhat self fulfilling, much like the higher echelon teams now. It is much easier to recruit when you play at a winning level.

I don’t know if he’ll go to Ole Miss or not. I do know the expectations of the fanbase vs the reality of the situation are wearing on him. I’ve been told he took the job thinking the expectations were similar to that of Navy so negative results on the field aren’t as big a deal and positive results are cherished. That is definitely not the case at Tech where the fanbase is much more vocal than at Navy and has a heightened sense of the program as compared to Navy. I’ve also been told he’s really worn out on the level of recruiting he’s had to do. He’s not good at it and at GSU he really only went in a plucked off the best athletes on small HS teams and plugged them into the system and at Navy his recruiting was essentially done for him but he got really really smart and DISCIPLINED kids so the execution there was far better than at Tech. Of course all of this comes to me 2nd hand from within the AA.

But the expectations of the fanbase wore him down so much, he was gone after 2 years. I never did understand what happened there.

Give Skip Holtz another couple of years to win at S.FL he might be a good candidate. Down year for them this year after getting off to such a good start. Mike Leach? I just don’t see him as good as CPJ, and he has no recruiting ties to the SE. Same with the Oregon and OSU coordinators. Kirby Smart isn’t leaving Bama. And I don’t see Malzahn as a HC though he would be on a short list.

I think Johnson is the right guy, too, OJF. The season didn’t end the way we wanted it, but at some point you have to tip your hat to Georgia. They have a good team. I don’t think they’ll win next week, but they’ll give LSU everything they can handle (assuming they’re healthy) for about three quarters.
This loss was a lot easier for me to take because I left the stadium knowing they were better. When that happens, I just let it go.

Here is a Coach to keep in mind for the future………………………….University of Central Florida running backs coach George Godsey is leaving the program after seven seasons to join the New England Patriots’ offensive staff, the Orlando Sentinel first reported Thursday.
Relive every game this season online and on-demand with enhanced viewing features. Get NFL Game Rewind.
“George has been with me for a long time as a player and coach,” UCF coach George O’Leary said in a statement released by the school. “This is happy news to see him get this opportunity to expand his coaching career with a great organization like the New England Patriots. I wish him good luck there.”
The Patriots confirmed Godfrey’s hiring as an offensive assistant later Thursday and also announced two other coaching moves on their Twitter page. Brian Ferentz was promoted from offensive assistant to tight ends coach, and Harold Nash was elevated from assistant to head strength and conditioning coach.
Godsey, a quarterback at Georgia Tech under O’Leary from 1998 to 2001, set the Yellow Jackets’ record for career completion percentage (63.3) and ranked second in career pass-efficiency rating (143.64). He ranks third all-time at the school with 41 touchdown passes.
Godsey also was a member of the 2003 Tampa Bay Storm team that won the ArenaBowl title.

Forever, if other schools can keep coaches for extended periods of time, then why couldn’t Tech too. I refuse to believe we couldn’t raise the money to keep a great coach. Now as to whether the fan base will support him 100%, I don’t know. Our fan base is historically (at least since Dodd) VERY FICKLE. Hell, even the students don’t come to games anymore. Is that Johnson’s fault? Some may blame him for it, but I think we just have a fickle, lazy student body as well as fan base.

GT fans should take an oath to discontinue any silly banter that involves UGA. We have got to focus on the GT football program and how to make it better. UGA and GT operate in 2 different universes. It serves no purpose to compare the 2 football programs. GT can be very successful in its own way. That path should not be one that the mimics the UGA program. They are successful in the SEC. We can be successful in the ACC and so be it. I agree with the UGA comments that indicate our inferiority complex when it comes to the 2 programs.

Paul Johnson is known for his irresponsible reckless statements of hit UGA fans in the face and get back to your jobs at Walmart, you retard. To both, to make matters worse, he said they were jokes. Joke is the Sun Bowl against a team 1 win better than .500 California. Georgia tek has not won a bowl game under Paul Johnson, has lost 6 bowl games in a row and has not won a Major Bowl since 1955.
Atlanta : Georgia tek’s student section was not full vs its only Rival, losing their 10th in 11 games vs Mark Richt. Georgia tek finds 5 ACC teams better than it this season at 8-4, yet Georgia tek played the # 71 strength of schedule all season now. 53-56 is the won/loss record of all of Georgia tek’s opponents all season long. All I know is if Tech keeps Al Groh they can go ahead and cancel my season tickets for next year. I am so utterly disgusted with the defense (they have actually only played ONE decent game all season). They truly are a pathetic joke. It seems they have been that way for several years now. I’m SO fed up with this. Every year a decent to good offense (that looked like cr@p today) and a horrible defense that couldn’t stop Sister Mary’s School for Wayward Girls. I hate to admit it, but CPJ is starting to become Chan Gailey II. And Tevin Washington is Reggie Ball all over again — occassional flashes of brilliance but totally inept the majority of the time. Unfortunately Days hasn’t looked any better. But the brunt of the blame lies on Al Groh and his AWFUL defense. Hasn’t anyone ever taught them how to tackle? And lets face reality, the 3-4 is NEVER going to work at Tech because we can’t get players big enough to make it work (and I truly believe that the 3-4 isn’t particularly well-suited for college ball anyway, but that’s just my personal opinion). 1-3 against UGA, 1-3 against VT, 1-3 against Miami. This is getting old REALLY fast folks. And people wonder why we can’t even sell out an undersized stadium???? I’m not ready to give up on CPJ yet, but the honeymoon is over and some things need to change FAST or his seat is going to become VERY hot! And the first change needed is to go to a 4-3 and hire a decent DC, because Groh isn’t even close to cutting it!!!!!!!!

That’s like 80 off their season average. We pretty much stopped their running game, Ken.

Last week, I predicted that Aaron Murray would carve up GT’s corners and safeties by using Chris Conley and Mike Bennett and Malcom Mitchell and Orson Charles and Aron White and Bruce Figgins and did I say Marvelous Marlon Bown and Tavarres KIng. IT WAS ACCURATE.
Seond prediction was that GT simply would not be able to move the UGA middle D line and that the UGA D was not the same old UGA D that CWM had in 07, 08, 09 and that our D this year was far superior to the D of even last year. ACCURATE AGAIN>

Some of you Tech folk are over reacting. PJ is a great coach, he just has neither the qb nor D right now. Mind you, UGA has a great D, much bigger and faster than any you guys went up against all season. He attempted to do some things his qb was not capable of doing. The D needs a couple of big bodies on LOS, Groh may or may not get that. This losing streak started before CPJ arrived. As a Dawg fan I know what you are going through (Florida). Just do not react with emotions and realize as 9:13 said. Could be worse, you could have the misfortune of being brought up Clemson fans.

By the way, VANDY STOMPED WAKE and SC stomped Clemson and UGA stomped GT, so that pretty well sums up the ACC ……………… ONLY VERY average SEC teams stomped the better ACC teams. See?

More wisdom from the Blind Dawg
After reading about half the post here I have several tidbits to offer. It is a given GT cannot and most likely will not sign top shelf players because the curriculum is limited and entry difficult. It has little to do with the offensive / defensive scheme (there are a ton of players that can excel in the TO).
CPJ has an offensive system that works well with 3 & 4 star players. The defensive scheme (3-4) will never work with the players GT can recruit and sign. IMHO GT needs to find a defensive scheme (coach) with a system that can work with the talent GT can sign a system that compliments the TO.
Good luck in the Sun Bowl – make the state proud.

One more tidbit. I keep reading about UGA’s success coming from the weak SEC schedule. The target seems to be the teams we played from the west. Well guess what folks Bama and LSU padded their schedule playing the same teams. Could it be the questionable west teams have lousy records because they played very good teams?
UGA won the games scheduled save Boise and SC. I think if we played them today the outcome would be very different. SC didn’t dominate UGA they won more on a fluke than anything. Most pundits don’t give UGA a chance to beat LSU – but we will see.

QB’s make the differance between losing and winning. I really don’t see T. Washington beating out S. Days or Vadd Lee next year. Days looks so much more athletic and Lee is supposed to be a really good athlete with a super arm. Hey we’re a really young team and can only get better. I like our future with CPJ, but we must tighten up our pass defense. Safety play has got to be stronger, and we must sign a few really good D-lineman. J.C. Lanier needs to be put back on defense. He would provide much needed size. And for you Kb you’re an idiot I think the only teams that Tech would have a problem with that you mentioned would be Vandy and Fla. But good luck against LSU. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TECH. Oh I forgot to mention my opening comment is true just ask Tubberville, and Fulmer. Their misjudgeing of their teams QB talent led to their firings. QB’s make the differance.

Thanks to the CLASSY Dawgs who have posted here, and especially Old Blind Dawg, for keeping things in perspective and not resorting to insults and trash talking. Unfortunately most Tech fans would have resorted to the same kinds of posts had Tech won. There is nothing wrong with CPJ’s offense that a good TO QB with consistent passing won’t solve; hopefully Vad Lee will provide that. But Tech’s defense is TERRIBLE and after signs of improvement early in the season is now worse than last year. UGA’s defense has improved and was moderately effective Sat, but what won the game was a QB and receivers who were on fire against a miserable defense. As much as I hate to say it, I will—–THE BETTER TEAM WON. PERIOD.

GT lost the game at QB, TW played awfull, he has not been that bad all season. I think T Washington was the wrong call to start all year, never played great unless defenses were just totally confussed. Hope Vad Lee or Demon Smith are ready next year, Tech need a QB that can step up in big games. superDawg, finally an intelligent post from you. Very good. However, Johnson only BUILDS the offense around the TO; he does not run it exclusively. The offense he runs WILL work, with all the variations he throws in, WHEN he has a QB who can pass efficiently and effectively on a consistent basis. Washington FINALLY threw some more-or-less short passes in the game Sat, but he didn’t or couldn’t read the defensive alignment well enough to know WHERE he should be throwing them, and as a result he flopped. Yes, Johnson loves to control the clock, and when the ground game (be it TO or toss sweep or whatever) is clicking, it does effectively control the clock. But he’s also smart enough to know that the time to control the clock is when you are actually in control of the game. Tech was never even close to being in control of the game Sat, and so he needed and attempted to pass, but Washington FAILED.

Defense keeps you in games – Tech has no defense – no way around it. A few here point out the success early in the year – bad analogy – you were playing really weak teams. As the schedule got stronger the defense was exposed.
CPJ needs to burn up the phone lines and find someone that can do on defense what he does on offense which is make plays with 2 – 3 star recruits.

Steve Tech left 7 on the field on the first play. With the pass going to HILL it would more than likely have been a TD. That is HUGE in this game as you know. RainbowJacket – I sort of agree with you. I thought that Tech’s chances to win would rest with Tech not making any mistakes and Georgia making a few. Had Tech’s first pass been thrown to Hill and a completion the complexion of the game would have changed. Had Georgia not received a second chance at the field goal our mood at halftime would have been better. Had Georgia’s number 25 been called for the obvious holding penalty on the second half kickoff the field would have been much longer for Georgia.
Oh well, UGA played well and we did not. UGA won again and we did not. Good luck to Georgia against LSU, I hope UGA beats LSU worse than LSU beat us in the Chik-fil-A bowl a few years ago.

Great game and hats off to CMR for not piling up more points in the 4th quarter when UGA obviously could have. Just imagine if CMR was replaced by Saban, Miles or even Petrino during the 4th quarter; the score would have been something like 48-17. CMR showed a lot of class by just keeping the ball on the ground and chewing up the clock. Just hope that UGA keeps it close with LSU next week but not entertaining the delusion that it will pan out that way. LSU will not allow Murray that much time to find open receivers so UGA must plan for that. Final thought – GT has nothing to be ashamed of as they played a hard, clean game.

SEC was 3-1 against the ACC. And truth be told, the 3 wins weren’t even close. Vandy killed Wake, SC handed it to Clemson, and well, we know what happended at Bobby Dodd..

Skitty, Fritty, I apologize on the behalf of Tech fans for that; Tech students have always been known for their crudity. I plead guilty to having been the same way when I was in school. Part of that is because the load at Tech can be so overwhelming at times, and some kind of “escape” is necessary. That still doesn’t excuse it, and obviously I have no way of knowing if that were true for what you experienced or not. Usually at Tech – Georgia games, I have found the Georgia fans to be the most obnoxious I have seen anywhere, but I have to be honest: those I personally encountered at this game were polite, for the most part sober, and even gracious in victory. I was STUNNED….LOL I also talked to my niece at church this morning. I had gotten tickets to the game for her an her family (all Tech fans). She said the UGA fans around here were very friendly and well-behaved, but that there were two Tech fans in front of her an her family who were drunk as hell and obnoxious the entire game. Skitty, you are taking my comments off on a tangent. My point is that since I graduated in 1992, there has been a lack of commitment from the University and the Athletic Department to beating Georgia. It starts with recruiting. O’Leary got lucky 3 years in a row. Its not too hard to beat Tech, when almost every single recruit to Georgia is 4 and 5 star rated. Then that begs the question, why has Georgia not won several National Championships with all these high rated recruits over the past 20 years. So, I am back to my original question, why continue this so called rivalry, its very apparent that Tech is satisfied with 6, 7,or 8 wins a year and losing to Georgia.

I agree with supersize, that getting my degrees from Tech was pretty, @#$% tough. Yes, both were in Management, and I had to take a few calculus and stats classes. Again, this is not the point. Its not the academics in and of itself that is the problem. Tech is not making the commitment to beat Georgia or be much better than they are, and to the guy that says were broke, see the endowment to the school. We rank up there with Duke and many of the elite schools in this country with endowment size.

a.bishop, a tribute to Munson was made on the screen before kickoff, and the entire stadium stood in honor of his memory, students included. I wasn’t even aware until I returned home that the UGA band gave an additional tribute during halftime; I never watch the bands on the field at halftime. I doubt very seriously that the Tech students had a clue what the band was doing. After I got home I saw a video clip online of what the UGA band did, and from where my seats are, it was all upside down, so I wouldn’t have even known what was going on if somebody hadn’t told me to watch the video clip. I can assure you that the Tech students weren’t booing Munson; they were simply booing the band, the way the Georgia fans ALWAYS boo the Tech band when on the field in Athens.

a.bishop, remember too that the Tech students cheer “To Hell With Georgia” pretty much constantly during the entire game. Like I said, NOBODY pays any attention to what the bands do at halftime. I couldn’t even tell you what the Tech band did, much less what the UGA band did.

I might believe you Supersize and not think anything else about it except the fact that I wasn’t at the game and I didn’t get a chance to see the halftime antics. However, my information comes from 3 Tech graduates and a current Tech student who was in the student section and knew what was going on. All of them were pissed about it and they all knew what happened so I seriously doubt the students had no clue as to what was going on.

Another thing, a.bishop, you should consider it an honor and a show of class by Tech that Munson was honored by Tech prior to the game. Nobody in Athens ever honored Ciraldo after he passed away, and Munson and Ciraldo were close friends.

a.bishop, were the Tech students you know pissed that other Tech students booed, or that the UGA band honored Munson? If they were pissed at the other Tech students, then that should tell you that not all the students were doing what you claim. From where I sat, I not only didn’t know that a tribute to Munson was going on, I also didn’t hear any more booing or cries of THWG than at any other point during the game.

I was at the game, but I was in the upper deck on the east sideline. Tech students usually boo just about anything an opposing team does, unless it’s something so spectacular that they can’t help but paying attention to what’s going on. At basketball games, I used to think that the students stood and turned their backs on Coach K when he was introduced whenever Duke plays in Atlanta. Then I noticed the same thing going on when every other ACC coach and team was introduced too. That’s just part of their “ritual,” and I would bet that for the most part, the “ritual” at the game Sat was booing the UGA band, no matter what they were doing.

a.bishop, if some of the students were indeed booing the tribute to Munson (and I still pretty much doubt that), and yet other students expressed disgust at it, then I think the fact that some expressed disgust is really more telling than what the others did.

It doesn’t matter if it is a “ritual”. It’s wrong and disrespectful, and they knew exactly what they were doing.

I am so sick of this standards mess. They have a formula to get any athlete in that they want. This gets so old. When Ross or O’leary was winning oh their was no problem with admissions or when Cremins was winning. Now that they can’t get over the hump it is because of academics. Notre Dame isn’t winning because with todays players tradition doesn’t mean anything. They could care less about playing for Notre Dame like Rudy did. Kind of like with all these kids moving around from high school to high school they don’t care about tradition. All they care about are themselves and it all starts with parents that are hoping to get rich off their kid.

SOME students threw bottles at Dan Devine from Notre Dame one year in Atlanta, supposedly “in retaliation” for his having needlessly run up the score against Tech at South Bend the previous year. Many of the students, however, were trying to find out who threw the bottles so they could be turned in. I think some were actually caught as a result. You can’t judge ALL the students by the actions of a few.

Tech needs to ditch the calculus classes and start a degree program in “Magazines”. It’ll help get those 4 or 5 star recruits. An ACT score of “2″ will help as well. The field needs to be leveled if Tech wants to play Pro football like the SEC.
I’ve offered congratulation to UGA and still do, but for the low class dog fans on here talking trash. Get out of the dumpster.
Thanks for the rumor mill about CPJ leaving for Ole Miss. Here’s another one, Urban Meyer is considering Tech. His daughter matriculates there. What’s UGA’s record against Meyer?

Go back and look at your blogs throughout the offseason this year and years past hardly any Dawg fans even waste their time on Techs blog. Then take a look at the UGA blog you will see tons of Tech fans running off at the mouth week after week.
How about talking to your fanbase first

Flat Tire, I never read the UGA blogs, and you obviously haven’t spent a whole lot of time reading the Tech ones. UGA trolls have been on here night and day for the entire season spewing trash. Now, it HAS BEEN PROVED, that many of those trolls are one person posting under several different names, but I doubt very seriously that the amount of trash-talking on the UGA blogs is more than that on the Tech blogs.

OK Flat Tire, dawgtrolls please stop posing as Tech fans on the Tech blog. Please stop the vulgarity and profanity because some children read this “stuff”. Tech fans doing the same on Georgia’s blog please stop it.
One more thing Flat Tire, I read a dog poster stating he would join the Taliban before ever saying anything decent about Tech. I hope he does, I personally do not like enemies of my country.

I think Johnson’s mistake was not getting Lee ready to play by the middle of the season there were plenty of big leads in the early part of the tech year to play him. Washington proved last season that he could not be a accurate passer filling in for Nesbitt. Georgia’s last head coach did the same thing with David Green and it cost him his job, I don’t think it will with Johnson but he should have played him if he is the future at QB

To all the Yech fans that are trying to say “well if they woulda completed that pass or if Paul wouldn’t have called that timeout…we coulda won” you are delusional. This game was OVER midway throught the third and then typical Bobo and Richt put it on cruise control. We coulda hung half a hundred on you guys, but we’re not like that. The score no way defines how close this game was. Georgia dominated Tech
