Georgia 31, Georgia Tech 17

Three quick thoughts.

1. Missed opportunities in the first half. The first play, not scoring a touchdown after reaching the Georgia 2-yard line, the timeout on the missed field goal. I’m hardly convinced it would have made a difference, but it reduced the Jackets’ margin considerably. The third quarter extinguished it completely.

2. The Tech pass defense didn’t cut it. Most times, Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray had time to throw and open targets to throw to. Sub-par all the way around.

3. Tech proved again it can run the ball. Against the No. 2 run defense, the Jackets cleared 225 yards. However, it wasn’t nearly, nearly enough. The Jackets needed some sort of big play or three – a blocked punt, a long punt return, an interception taken back for a touchdown, an 80-yard touchdown run – and couldn’t summon it.

What do you think?

5150,
You need to take your beating like a man. Sounds like that is a hard thing for you to do since you are not much of one. 17 of 21 wins and counting. CPJ’s sole victory in 2008 is looking more and more like the fluke that it was. Glad it hurts os bad.

Now time to go take it from behind. Leroy likes to put on the big black & red one after a victory and just give it to me.

This was complete domination in every phase of the game. GT has some serious issues. I’ve been a big fan of CPJ and his offense since day one but it’s beginning to wear on me.. The performance today was nothing more than disgusting!

As pathetic and awful as our Special Teams and Defense are our number 1 problem is still at the QB position. That can be solved.

I have come to the conclusion that this coach will never change the offense. With this horrid offense in place, we will never be able to pass effectively or recruit good offensive talent. In addition, the defense suffers because they never practice against a decent passing offense. He will take it and the Tech program to his grave. This will be the norm for our team. Beat some weak teams and lose to the good ones. No passing, inconsistent defense, and horrible special teams. With no upside.
Maybe Vad Lee will enable the offense more. Personally I would like to have seen Days play this year because of his size and speed. TW is way too limited skillwise to be playing against the big boys. Regardless, finding a QB who can beat the big teams in this offense will be once a decade. Hate to see this happen to our program, but this is getting frustrating.

I agree technoengineer. That’s what makes each year exciting. Tevin improved a lot last year. He might be totally awesome next year. Or Vad. Or Days. I wish them all well. It’s a tough sport. Go Jackets!!

I’ll bet if we had a QB that could actually read a Defense and pass, CPJ would do it more often. The fundamentals of this offense to open it up is there. You have to admit that there are guys wide open all over the place when we throw. We just can’t seem to hit them or they drop it.

Coaches put guys in position to make plays. They can’t do it for them too.

As a Dawg fan I thought it was classy how all your seniors were honored today. From the players to the cheerleaders to the band and everyone in between. It takes a lot of folks to put on a good football game and you guys did a good job of calling out those folks today. Also very cool to see how many astronauts came out of Tech. The score went in our favor but that other stuff is what makes a good program great…nicely done.

Born and bred a Bulldog. I have 2 graduate degrees from UGA. I moved to Athens in 1975 and have never left. That said, the vitriol and classless comments made here by some Dawg posters as a celebratory response are an embarrassment . Your taunting and jeering bring more dishonor to the school and team you profess to love than anything I’ve read by our opponents

Good game Tech ! We know and you know that the better team won, but hope springs eternal !! See ya next year in Athens

receivers are open yes, but apparently all Tech practices is running because we cannot throw or catch. never have in this o, probably never will. and the defense suffers too because they cant practice against what everyone else does
