Georgia 31, Georgia Tech 17

Three quick thoughts.

1. Missed opportunities in the first half. The first play, not scoring a touchdown after reaching the Georgia 2-yard line, the timeout on the missed field goal. I’m hardly convinced it would have made a difference, but it reduced the Jackets’ margin considerably. The third quarter extinguished it completely.

2. The Tech pass defense didn’t cut it. Most times, Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray had time to throw and open targets to throw to. Sub-par all the way around.

3. Tech proved again it can run the ball. Against the No. 2 run defense, the Jackets cleared 225 yards. However, it wasn’t nearly, nearly enough. The Jackets needed some sort of big play or three – a blocked punt, a long punt return, an interception taken back for a touchdown, an 80-yard touchdown run – and couldn’t summon it.

What do you think?

Smyrna Gold…do you know every Georgia fan?

A few may stick it to you but to lump everyone together and say no class whatsoever….thats uncalled for. Talk about no class!

You’re a poor loser and thats classless. Bet in 2008 you were totally classy too huh.
See alot of Yech fans made fun of Munson dying. Did you? See..a few don’t represent ALL. Watcj who you’re calling classless. I could lump every Yech fan together after what I read all week from SOME Yech fans about Larry’s passing. But I don’t.

Alot were classy but which one were you….can’t tell by your posts!

PROUD TO BE A GEORGIA BULLDOG!!!

Coach Johnson, if you want to talk smack like Spurrier, you need to win like Spurrier. Until then…
Now, I’m late for my shift at WalMart.

GRANT FIELD BELONGS TO THE DAWGS TECHIE BUGS HAVE LOST 6 TIMES IN A ROW. THEY MAY NEVER WIN ANOTHER GAME AT HOME AGAINST DAWGS. SOMEONE ONE NEED TO TAKE gtbob (diarrhea of the mouth and void between the ears) TTO A FOOTBALL GAME.I BET HE HAS NEVER BEEN INSIDE GRANT FIELD AND WOULD SOMEONE SEND HIM A SMOKE SIGNAL THAT TECHIE COULD NOT EVEN SCORE THREE TOUCHDOWNS MUCH LESS BEAT GEORGIA BY THREE. RUSHING BETWEEN THE TWENTIES DOES NOT SCORE POINTS.

Why did CPJ keep trying to run the ball in the third quarter while down by 21 points? Was he trying to run out the clock?

To all GT fans, I just wanted to say that you are still in a LOT better position than some of the talking heads said you would be, most of the “experts” predicted a 6-7 season, again, with the talent that you guys lost last year to have an IMPROVED record is a GREAT accomplishment. It was a good game and no one was injured and I thought both teams showed good sportsmanship. Good Luck in your bowl game and we will see you in Athens next year. Cheer on the Dawg next week. :)

Hay Looking for Supersize, we aren’t the ones who retired a jersey after winning 7-0.
Out of conference makes the others more significant to a season, granted. But if you obviously care a lot since you are on here; spewing drivel.

Thanks Right On Time, I’m the only Tech fan out of a multitude of friends and family that are UGA fans. Needless to say, football isn’t discussed and I’m more like a black sheep. By all rights I should be a Dawg fan but have always had the tendency to pull for the underdog, which Tech has been for a very long time. So it is, maybe a bowl win, maybe not. There is a lot to look forward to next year; new President maybe, better economy hopefully, maybe a better Tech team. By the way, congratulations on the win, Georgia Bulldogs.

Tech fans, don’t dump on CPJ so much. He simply got beaten by a better Georgia team this season. Remember Chan Gailey? Successive 7-5 seasons AND consistent losses to Georgia? Remember, Johnson’s beaten Georgia once and has won the ACC once in four years at the most academically challenging school in the ACC (yes, I’ll admit that, and I’m a Georgia and UNC graduate). Sinjin Days moved the ball through the air effectively, and from what I have heard Vad Lee is a decent passer, as well, so there will be an opportunity to improve that phase of the offense next year. Y’all need some big defensive linemen, pure and simple. Otherwise, the 3-4 is not as effective.

Good luck in your bowl game!

Only had 1 Dawg fan try to be an AZZ today. He started the game running his mouth and looking around to see if he could goad someone int to a verbal confrontation. He tried for a quarter doing this. Finally he realized nobody was going to give he the Attention the little child needed. He was actually upset he couldn’t get in a fight.
the UGa fans next to us were respectful and we had some good game discussion.

SOMEONE SEND TECHIE A MESSAGE RUSHING BETWEEN THE TWENTIES DOES NOT SCORE POINTS. YOU HAVE TO CROSS THE GOAL LINE OTHER WISE IT IS ZERO POINTS. SO NEXT YEAR MAYBE THEY WILL SHOW THE PLAYER AND EXPLAIN TO THEM WHERE THE GOAL LINE IS.

I saw two pretty well coached teams play today. Neither team seemed to lose its composure or commit many stupid penalties. Georgia won mainly on talent today with an honorable mention to Grantham’s defense and Bobo’s play calling. By the way, Bobo’s calling has really improved this year, in my opinion.

Has anybody been able to discern what the official Techie party line is on this loss yet? I know its early and it usually takes them a couple of days to come up with all of their excuses, but sometimes they are quick to the draw. I guess we’ll wait and see. They are creative. I’ll give them that.

Tech Fans, I am a Georgia fan and I think CPJ needs to have more balance offensively. If y’all attempted 20 passes per game and with the way you run the ball you would own the ACC and would win more against us than you do. When every body in the stadium knows you have to pass, then that’s the most difficult time to complete a pass especially when your QB throws so very few passes per game. If y’all attempted more passes in practice, it would help your receivers run their routes better and help your DB’s in pass coverage. If any Coach can win 9 games every year at Tech, considering the academic requirements and so few special admits, then he should get a Paul Hewitt contract. Talent is biggest difference in our teams. Kids go to Tech to get a degree and play college football. Kids go to UGA to get a degree and play pro football. Those are two distinctly different calibers of athletes. I wish you well in your bowl game!

Ken;

You are spot on – dropped passes, not scoring a TD on the drive to the Georgia 2, the secondary for sure – and add the inability to pressure Murray; when Georgia flew down the field at the end of the second quarter and scorred 3 – it was going to be a long day. Tech’s only hope was to make it a scoring contest – and that was lost when it had to settle for 3 at the Georgia 2. Also Tech’s QB tended to hesitate and put the burden on his own shoulders on several plays where he should have pitched.

Still the game deciding factor was not so much talent but age and maturity difference between the Georgia offensive line and Tech’s defense.

This Tech guy wishes the best to Georgia as it faces Tigers. The difference in that game may also boil down to line play … specifically Georgias offensive line versus the Tiger Defense

It’s a rivalry folks, but remember, it’s a game. So unless you want us

what is wrong with us, let’s try to keep it on the level of “good old-fashioned hate”. We are
