Georgia 31, Georgia Tech 17

Three quick thoughts.

1. Missed opportunities in the first half. The first play, not scoring a touchdown after reaching the Georgia 2-yard line, the timeout on the missed field goal. I’m hardly convinced it would have made a difference, but it reduced the Jackets’ margin considerably. The third quarter extinguished it completely.

2. The Tech pass defense didn’t cut it. Most times, Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray had time to throw and open targets to throw to. Sub-par all the way around.

3. Tech proved again it can run the ball. Against the No. 2 run defense, the Jackets cleared 225 yards. However, it wasn’t nearly, nearly enough. The Jackets needed some sort of big play or three – a blocked punt, a long punt return, an interception taken back for a touchdown, an 80-yard touchdown run – and couldn’t summon it.

What do you think?

Ey Tch fans this game scared the hell out of me…not because I’m afraid of losing..b/c I know how god awful you fans can be when you luck up and beat Georgia….you act like a little brother that finally beats his superior big brother in a game of basketball finally after 100 tries. You run your mouth like the day is long….

so sorry…you don’tget to run your mouth for the next years….WE STILL RUN THIS STATE.

Send the State championship rings back….they are are not needed….enjoy some irrelevant bowl game in the cold…coudn’t have happened to a more arrogant fans base.

I used to pull for tech evey game except 1. 2008 changed that……..I wouldn’t cheer for you pricks if you were playing the TALIBAN!

Tech proved they could run? The entire offense is run offense. They can not run against superior defenses, they got a garbage TD late. Grantham schooled CPJ.

Do you know anything about football? UGA held Tech to their lowest run total all year. All Tech does is run the ball. You are an idiot.

Ya’ll are right Dawg fans; once again Tech loses. It is tough pulling for a team that has, over my last 36 years, been a little brother to Georgia. It is disheartening to not have a team that wins consistently. Today I pulled for the Dawgs for a few minutes thinking that if I pulled for them they might actually start sucking. Didn’t happen though. But when you’re a fan of a team, you’re just a fan of the team. Losing is something you have to get used to in life, it teaches you humility. Hopefully in my lifetime Tech will once again put together a strong program, a team that when I turn the TV on, it’s just a given that they win. Until then, enjoy your victory, I’m going to move on myself.

You Techies had a good year – had some good wins – send your seniors out with a good bowl win. CPJ runs the type of offense that allows you to have the best chance with the talent you draw – but, as a negative, nobody with NFL aspirations is going to play in that scheme. That is going to hurt your recruiting as long as he is there. Good luck with your bowl game………..See Ya’ Next year!

Still not a lot of class shown from the UGA fans on this blog. Talk about a superiority complex Ken. Maybe your little country club remarks can be aimed at UGA.

That said, good luck Dawgs against the Tigers. Again, well deserved and we will see you next year with a better QB. Gosh its fun, isn’t it!!

I’ll admit it. I wish the rivalry could be civil but you pricks pi$$Ed a lot of people off with your lack of “act like you’ve been there” behavior in 2008 when UGA had to give you the game to pull the upset.

Georgia’s players would be the first to say that outside Aaron Murray they didn’t play near their capabilities today and still they beat us rather handily. That is what has me disheartened.

CPJ could never explain the logic of the two INTs inside the 10….while I’m not all that crazy about the spread option, it CAN work but at some point, especially when the chips are down (meaning bad field position) he needs to do what it is he does and not step outside his boundaries and help out the opposition.

I’m still with you, Yellow Jackets….make the best of a bad situation and win your bowl game.

Relish your win over Kansas. That WAS the highpoint of your season. Music City Bowl, or worse…
365 more days for today’s win to eat at you. And like so many UGA fans have repeatedly said: GT barely registers on UGA’s mind at all each year. That is, until your over the top hubris and baseless bravado becomes so infuriatingly irritating that we can’t wait to stomp you back into your nest in the ground. (As we do with remarkable regularity). And once we do, and relish the silence from you as you sulk for a week, we become reminded of your insignificance to what we consider important, and we move on with our agenda, knowing that the annual cycle of predictable behavior will repeat itself around spring practice.

I am trying to think of a comparable in state rivalry. Is it: Tulane v LSU/ Vandy v Tenn/ Texas v Texas A&M? Whatever it is–from this side of another lop sided wipeout it ain’t much of anything. We don’t matter except to ourselves. Good for you Georgia. You need a speed bump every now and then just to loosen up the struts. I hope LSU kills you but even if they do, it won’t lessen the hurt of yet another loss.

To the CPJ haters, how many times was the offense in position for a huge play and blew it. Period. A lot. At the end of the day, players have to take advantage. And this offense rocks when it comes to opportunities. That can not be argued.

Our Passing D is what we knew it was except for 1 game. Tevin Washington is what we thought he was all season.
Still don’t know WHO was supposed to cover the TE cutting across the middle. It was there all day.
Tevin threw some of the worst passes I have ever seen. he was not on the same page with the WRs ever today. The First was an easy TD if the B-Back sees hill and throws it earlier instead of the Sky High DUCK in the middle of the field.
Tech didn’t play MEAN enough. tech never looked like they were Pi$$ed enough to want to win.

Congrats Tevin Washington. You have 1 more game as Tech’s QB. Please make some plays in the bowl game.

For what its worth…you guys scared the crap out of me and I was praying Larry would give us some help upstairs. Keep PJ….it gives you guys the best chance to beat us…..if Georgia had gotten behind, the triple option would have killed us!

It was a clean competitive game and Georgia just had a little more gas in the tank today.

GT-UT…you’re right…we did have several opportunities that we failed to capitalize on due to a lack of execution.

I’m not a CPJ hater but I’m not at all wild about the 3-4 because the personnel simply isn’t there for it. It’s not now and it doesn’t appear likely to change any time soon. Coaches are supposed to pt their players in situations in which they can best excel and defensively, we’re just not doing that.

missed opportunities? Talk about Denial!

UGA missed opportunities to make this a total blowout…a missed FG and no points following an INT and this thing would have been 45 – 17. Just say congrats and wuit making excuses. The running game proved worthy again? Yeah right…almost 100 yards below the season avg and 1.3 yds per carry shaved off the season avg. Yeah…they proved they could run it again.

They run it 60 times a game…geez…I could get 200 yds rushing and I’m old!

Denial….Domination is what happened today….AGAIN.

At what point did it NOT feel like UGA was in total control?

NEVER!!

Let me try and explain this to you in fewer syllables so you can understand. And first, understand that what you are about to read isn’t post-game gloating. It’s sincere sentiment that most UGA fans feel about GT and GT fans.

First, you really are very, very insignificant to us up until the week(s) just before the game.
Out of our entire annual schedule, only the cupcake OOC games (NSM, CC this year) are of less significance to us. The teams we focus on, in order of priority are: UF, Auburn, UT, SC, Vandy (now, thanks to the post-game skirmish and the desire to “finish business” there next year), the Missy sisters, GT (for state ownership), and the cupcake scrimmages.

Second, the only reason we become even aware of your existence just before our annual show-down is because by then your boorish behavior, classless cowardice (how proud of the website celebrating Munson’s passing, are you?), unending and unearned arrogance becomes so sickening and deafening that we can’t wait to destroy simply to shut you up. Which we consistently do. For a few weeks, then like the whiny, irritating and despised little brother that you are, you resume the entire repertoire again, right from the opening number. Tiring, pathetic, and what was once entertaining has now just become pointless noise. Do both schools a favor and just go away – forever. Drop the football program, join the C-USA, whatever, just go play by yourself for a few decades or just go away and stop being such childish brats.
