1. Following Wednesday’s practice, Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson said that “everybody should be good” for Tech’s Saturday game against Georgia. That would include A-back Roddy Jones and wide receiver Stephen Hill, who came back to practice after being held out Monday and Tuesday, and guard Will Jackson, who was held out of the contact portion of Tuesday’s practice.
2. Chick-fil-A Bowl president Gary Stokan said Wednesday that “You’ve got to consider Georgia Tech strongly” for the Dec. 31 bowl game at the Georgia Dome. To be considered, though, Tech will have to defeat the Bulldogs Saturday. The other teams on the bowl’s ACC short list are Clemson, Virginia and Virginia Tech. On the SEC side, Auburn and South Carolina are the two leading candidates, with Georgia an outside possibility.
Representatives from the Champs Sports Bowl and Sun Bowl also both re-affirmed their interest in Tech Wednesday. Champ Sports Bowl CEO Steve Hogan said that Tech would not necessarily have to beat Georgia to be considered. The other ACC schools that the Dec. 29 bowl in Orlando is looking at are Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson and Florida State.
“I think they’re right in the middle of the picture,” Hogan said of the Jackets.
3. Barring something crazy, no posts Thursday. I want to wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving. I have a great deal for which to give thanks, including a lot of encouraging and engaging blog commenters.
Thanks for reading.

Oh, boy, all the Georgia tek fans – both of them – are out in force on this blog. Injuries ? Georgia tek averages the # 51 recruiting ranking every single season under Paul Johnson, which explains his pitiful record even against a FAR LESS TOUGH Schedule than Mark Richt every year. NCAA PROBATION back-to-back REPEAT OFFENDERS in ALL THE MAJOR SPORTS, especially FOOTBALL. 40-17 UGA. Your rush offense goes up against the 2nd worse match-up Paul Johnson could ever even possibly hate to go up against, the # 2 Rush Defense of Todd Grantham. This, while of course Georgia tek puts up its HORRIBLE SPECIAL TEAMS and its HORRIBLE DEFENSE of AL GROH.
# 72 Rush Defense Georgia tek
# 64 Scoring Defense Georgia tek
# 75 Defense at getting sacks Georgia tek
# 96 Tackles for loss Georgia tek
# 61 Turnovers Gained by Defense Georgia tek
# 89 Georgia tek 3rd Down Conversion Defense
This while UGA puts up the # 2 Defense in the nation. Bad match-up for Georgia tek after what Aaron Murray did to you last season.

Glad to read that GT will all their players available for this rivalry.
That’s what I want to see in this game; our best against your best, though I’m uncertain UGA’s best RBs will be able to play.
Anyway, it’s always a good rivalry that I look forward to.
Hope we both play injury free and I think we’ll see a good game. If we win, good luck to Georgia Tech in the Champs Bowl.
To all, I hope you have a good, safe and healthy Happy Thanksgiving! ..

That poor kicker plays in the worst place in the country for football. We had more people at our practices than this poor kid had at his games. That was sad!

Don’t worry, Tech will never have an interest in a good kicker. It makes too much sense. We will always have lousy kickers.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Thank the military folks. If GT goes to the Sun Bowl & any Techsters go, you should try to visit the Indian Springs Ranch @ exit 49 & 5 miles north of I10. Cattleman’s Steak House. Google or their web site. You won’t regret it.

Thank you, Lord for Paul Johnson, Johnny Cash and Furman Bisher.
All have a safe and prosperous Thanksgiving; safe, anyway. Thank you for having these two teams with winning records to cheer and boo and may all emerge injury free from this game, although it would be okay if the O-line and D-line from Georgia turned their ankles getting off the bus as long as they were back at full speed for LSU.

I forgot to say…a huge THANK YOU for all the views of the kicker video! He really loves Georgia Tech. He has applied but doesn’t seem to think that he will be accepted with the low 26 ACT score. If he can get into school there with help from the football team, I think he would probably walk on. Both of his parents are Memphis grads and they have offered him a full ride. That might be hard to turn down but the Memphis program is a real mess these days. He would like to run with the big boys so GT certainly fits the bill. Plus he has an older brother who is currently the # 2 kicker for Purdue (he is not nearly as good). Chris would kinda like to go to an engineering school that is ranked higher than Purdue plus good at football. GT stands out as the obvious choice when you factor in all those factors.
On the comment about no fans at the game…those first two kicks are from the one game I actually saw him play. At the time, Chris team was 8-1 and had already won the district. My home town team (Winchester, TN) was terrible and just playing out there last game. It was 44 degrees at kickoff in a light mist of rain. If you look closely, you will see the referees wearing gloves and there in an umbrella in the lower right corner on the second kick. Chris’ team lead 49-0 at the half. You had to be a true fan to be at game. What was amazing is that it had rained for two days and the field was a big sloppy mess. But he still hit the crossbar three times in the second quarter alone. That first kick on the video hit the crossbar and you see the football bouncing back into the endzone,
If you look at most of the top high school kickers, they will be kicking into the end zone. But the returners will at least be dropping back to catch the ball in the end zone. If you watch closely, with Chris, the return men usually never ever move. They just stand there and look up as it sails over their head. Like when Pujols cracks a 500 foot dinger and the center fielder never even moves.
In May of this year, the best high schoolkickers in the south assembled in Atlanta for an event called the Southern Showcase. I have attached a link to the results. Scroll down in the important category of ‘Field Goals Made’. You can see that Chris tied for first making 9-10. And then they have a ‘Pressure Round’ where they make a bunch of noise and distractions. He was 3-3 in that. He is one of those rare kids who just really loves the pressure.
Lastly, I will mention that he also has a freak of nature 14-year old little brother who is 6′4″, 240 pounds, less than 5% body fat, faster than his two older brothers, size 17 huge massive feet who plays middle linebacker and tight end. The kid looks like a coke machine with a head. As a freshman this year, he started at tight end for the defending state champion team. He is the biggest 14-year old that I have ever laid eyes on. Obviously a lot can happen over the next three years, but if he continues to grow, he is going to be a 6′8″ 290 pound, 4.7 40, heat seeking missile middle linebacker in the Class of ‘15. Whoever gets Chris will have the inside track on him. they are close.
Too much info for one message but there it is…thanks again for all the views. Leave him a message on YouTube to go Tech. If we can get him into school, you may be looking at your future kicker.

Whichever bowl, we’d better win. Bobby Dodd is turning over in his grave when he looks at our recent bowl record. I remember a couple of times the players were so indignant about the bowl they were sent to — and then went out and got their butts soundly beaten. Maybe a little volley ball, huh?

Sam…Please don’t say anything negative about UGA. Especially don’t say THWG. It offends Really?. She is very sensitive. I think enough mentally impoverished Georgia fans have had their feelings hurt this week. Let the healing process begin.
Chris is an awesome kicker. If no offers are forthcoming from Tech, please have him consider being a walk-on. Sean Bedford and Tyler Kidney won their scholarships. I’m sure Chris would win one, too, if he will pursue his dream and compete for the position.

Sam, Youtube has a pretty robust algorithm for preventing video views from being gamed. Any given IP address can only trigger the view count once every couple of hours. You’d have to control a botnet to make any real headway, but that’s illegal anyway.
