Georgia Tech quoteboard

TEVIN WASHINGTON

On passes being open against 9-man front:

We had put it on the check. The pass I threw to Embry (Peeples), we had put in a check for that because last year when we played them, we saw how they were lining the safeties really wide and they were leaving the middle of the field wide open. We wanted to take advantage of that.

On responding to coach Paul Johnson’s challenge to take care of business:

I think we responded well. At times, it wasn’t always perfect, it wasn’t always a good at times, but the end result is we finished out strong and got the win. We got the result we came here for.

It’s like that every week but this week, there was more emphasis on taking care of business. We worked too hard all year, all offseason, to come here and not take care of business, not finish the way we want to.

On the first-down run to run out the clock:

Coach (Paul) Johnson just told me to get the first down. He was like, the sprint-out, there shouldn’t be anybody out there. You should be able to just sprint around the edge and get the first down.

On receivers making adjustments to make catches:

When they make an adjustment, it gets your confidence up. Guys go out there, make a play for you, you go out there and try to make a play for them.

EMBRY PEEPLES

On not having Orwin Smith:

It was a little different, because you normally have that power at that position that we usually get from Big O. We still just have to come out here and play the same like he was there.

On his race to the pilon for his touchdown run:

It was a little closer than I thought. I was thinking Roddy (Jones) was going to get the safety down and he kind of chipped him and he kind of stayed on his feet and stumbled up. It made it a little more difficult, but the end result is I got there. That’s all that matters.

JEREMIAH ATTAOCHU

On if it was difficult to get into the flow of the game after halftime:

Not really. I mean, football is what we do. We step on the field, it’s time to go. It doesn’t take long to go. Mentally, I was ready to go and physically, I felt like I was ready to go in, too. So I just went in relaxed. I didn’t try to be a savior or anything. l just went in to play my role on defense.

On the penalties extending drives:

That’s definitely a concern. The funny thing about it is, it’s an easy thing to fix. We know exactly what’s wrong. That’s an easy problem to fix. We’re definitely going to fix it, be more disciplined.

STEVEN SYLVESTER

On Georgia:

We definitely want to go out on a good note. Georgia’s had our number the past couple years. They just keep rebuilding and reloading. Georgia’s always going to be a good football team, so we’re going to have to really be on our game when it comes to next Saturday.

DUKE NOSE TACKLE CHARLIE HATCHER

Being one of the defensive tackles, we came out wanting to stop the dives, and they were able to get some yards on dives on occasion, and we can’t let that happen. Then there were some pass plays and some outside running plays. You have to stop those big plays from happening by holding them to under three yards. We were able to do that on a lot of drives, but not every one of them, so it kind of hurt us.

Fool, our crowd starts over at the PDC and we dine there and enjoy adult beverages. A bus takes us to the game and our MD pals with their group office season tickets to BOTH UGA and GT, seat us nicely. Far above the maddening crowd as it were.

I will not be in the crowd with children and thugs from Ethel Street. We will miss you boy.

Cotton Bowl says it all. Belk Bowl defines GT football. Heck GT gets a free pair of GOLD socks for very player on the team. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Keys to Beating UGA

1. Stop thinking you have to do something special to beat them.

2. Stop thinking.

3. Just Play

4. UGA is talented so are you.

5. Stop making foolish mistakes week in and week out and telling the papers its correctable. Correct it.
6. Make a play when your number is called. You win when you make plays you lose when you don’t.

7. Honestly, they fear you more. More to lose is how they feel. So, give them what they fear.

8. Nobody understands the mindset of a champion. That is why there is only one every year.

9. Logic doesn’t factor in when you play a game that allows you to not the sense out of somebody.

10. Be better than average and you will never play like every one else. The great ones don’t drop passes. Play with uncertainty, or make excuses why they weren’t mentally prepared to play in a big game or a not so big game. Because, a winner knows that they all are big games.

Bonus: The story of David and Goliath wasn’t about the underdog beating the favorite. It was about having confidence and faith enough to know its about heart or the fight in the person that determines the outcome of any challenge. Just step up your game and GOD will do the rest.

heeldog…Good analysis. I think it could go either way barring any player suspensions or unknown injuries. Hope you can make it to the game. It ought to be a good one as usual, just hope the outcome is different from last year’s game.

UGA last played in the Cotton Bowl vs #1 Texas …………….NUMBER 1 TEXAS and we handled them 10-9 with QB John Lastinger’s roll out TD run to GLORY.

UGA loves the Cotton Bowl and THAT IS OUR DESTINATION IF WE LOSE in the Dome. See? BRAND AWARENESS BEGETS UGA this type of game.

Not one sack on Sean Renfree! Aaron Murray is going to kill us. If we can’t pressure the QB, it will be a long day.

Let me try and explain In the post which was satire I was posting comments as if I were a techie. Therefore the middle school commennts were spot on for a tech grad in his mid twenties or older. I know you tech boys are very linear and have a hard time with non math concepts but maybe you can google it.

I have tried 3 times to post about the guy who met 5150 last year after 5150 made a similar drunken challenge and I keep getting blocked. Brief recap. 5150 got curb stomped his skank got the cops and they pressed charges. Bulldog had to spend night in lockdown 5150 had nose broken and his bimbo is twice the man he is.

Cue 5150 denial and ken with his usual pretending all anti tech posts are fake and all the tech hate filled comments are humor.

Are the cokes and hotdogs free, again this Saturday?
Did GT win their appeal to get off PROBATION?
Will Attaochu play against Georgia?
Will CPJ call a forward pass, or will it remain a mystery?
Will GT bring the 2009 ACC Championship trophy to the game?
Where can Ga. fans park to prevent getting mugged after the game?
Do the GT mangement profs get preferred seating?
Will the Golden Corral provide the HC’s halftime meal?
So many questions….curious minds need to know….
