Georgia Tech-Duke live blog
DURHAM, N.C. – Hope this finds you well. I’ve finished the Cameron Indoor Stadium tour and have finished counting the dozens of fans at Wallace Wade Stadium and am ready for some ACC football.
A few things I’ll be watching:
1. How does Georgia Tech try to defend Duke quarterback Sean Renfree and the Killer V’s – wide receivers Donovan Varner (Duke’s all-time leading receiver) and Conner Vernon. Blitzing and playing man coverage or more zone and wait for Duke to make a mistake.
2. What does A-back Tony Zenon do with his snaps helping fill in for Orwin Smith, out with an undisclosed injury?
3. What kind of energy and intensity does Tech play with after getting knocked out of the ACC race? Can the Jackets put the game away early?
That’s about it. I’ll be checking in. Enjoy the game.

GT Jason, 6′7″ 350lbs is whole lot more menacing at the high school level, and even moreso in Enterprise, AL, than in a BCS conference.

I have never seen TJ not be awesome when he gets to play. We don’t use our NT for anything but filling the gaps. With him in there no one can run it down our throats which would be an improvement

Duke’s OL has more tackles than the Tech linebackers today. These guys get worse every week playing for Groh. Send him to the home with Bowden and Paterno and let them play checkers.

I have never seen a defense that leaves the middle of the field as wide open as GT does…..
How do teams not avg 400 yds passing against that coverage? Where in the world do the middle LBs go when the QB drops to pass? 3 of the 4 TD passes have been WIDE OPEN passes to middle of the field (slant or post routes).

I know like all, our run D is poor, but I can’t beleive the secondary is getting picked apart like this. A few big plays here and there, but they have been the lone bright spot on D until today. Don’t you know CMR will watch this tape 1,000 times.
