Georgia Tech-Duke live blog
DURHAM, N.C. – Hope this finds you well. I’ve finished the Cameron Indoor Stadium tour and have finished counting the dozens of fans at Wallace Wade Stadium and am ready for some ACC football.
A few things I’ll be watching:
1. How does Georgia Tech try to defend Duke quarterback Sean Renfree and the Killer V’s – wide receivers Donovan Varner (Duke’s all-time leading receiver) and Conner Vernon. Blitzing and playing man coverage or more zone and wait for Duke to make a mistake.
2. What does A-back Tony Zenon do with his snaps helping fill in for Orwin Smith, out with an undisclosed injury?
3. What kind of energy and intensity does Tech play with after getting knocked out of the ACC race? Can the Jackets put the game away early?
That’s about it. I’ll be checking in. Enjoy the game.

Tevin doesn’t get into a rhythm. He throws a few good passes then the next one is a Duck, then under thrown, then Over thrown.
But he can do that sometimes when he can’t throw.

The only good thing about Al Groh is that UVA is paying his salary this year. Hopefully Tech won’t be dumb enough to renew his contract after this season. It is bad enough paying Hewitt to not coach, we shouldn’t pay Groh to not recruit or coach also.

Duke’s 3 TDs are on 3rd & 5, 4th & 2, and 4th & 1. The 4th downs scores NEGATE 3rd down stops.
3rd down Defense STINKS!! Turnovers are a huge factor in the outcome of games, but 3rd down defensive failures are arguably worse.

I don’t see why TJ barnes isn’t in there at NT. He started the Clemson game, he is 6′7″ 350 lbs vs Walls in the high 280s soaking wet. I hear he’s lazy at practice but if you can’t make a 20 year old kid go run around then there is something wrong with you…

Hate to say it, but AG is here to stay. CPJ will not fire him. AG leaves only when he decides it’s time. Just the plain truth.
But as much as I too like to blame him, he needs athletes, especially big and tough kids up front. Now that holds true for every team, but it is especially required in a 3-4.
