Georgia Tech-Duke live blog
DURHAM, N.C. – Hope this finds you well. I’ve finished the Cameron Indoor Stadium tour and have finished counting the dozens of fans at Wallace Wade Stadium and am ready for some ACC football.
A few things I’ll be watching:
1. How does Georgia Tech try to defend Duke quarterback Sean Renfree and the Killer V’s – wide receivers Donovan Varner (Duke’s all-time leading receiver) and Conner Vernon. Blitzing and playing man coverage or more zone and wait for Duke to make a mistake.
2. What does A-back Tony Zenon do with his snaps helping fill in for Orwin Smith, out with an undisclosed injury?
3. What kind of energy and intensity does Tech play with after getting knocked out of the ACC race? Can the Jackets put the game away early?
That’s about it. I’ll be checking in. Enjoy the game.

We have a 14 point lead and switch to a prevent defense with 18 minutes left. Groh has got to go. Georgia will score 60 with Groh coaching this team.

This is when I hate that ‘bend but don’t break’ style of defense we play. We sure have not allowed too many huge plays, but giving 5+ yards on every play to Duke is embarrassing.

We must lead the country in dumb penalties. Although Georgia is hanging with us today. There is no reason to hit the quarterback since our defense can never get to him in time anyway as slow and small as they are.

Getting held all over the place, cummings didn’t see the ball was out of renfree’s hand because he was being pulled from behind. I guess they get calls in both basketball and football…

But its the same old thing. We should have had the ball, yet here we are possibly letting them get back into the game. If we would quit shooting ourselves in the foot we would have had a great season.

There is holding every other play. On the last roughing the passer call, their guard grabbed and held our defensive end by the facemask. WTF ACC??????
