Georgia Tech-Duke live blog

DURHAM, N.C. – Hope this finds you well. I’ve finished the Cameron Indoor Stadium tour and have finished counting the dozens of fans at Wallace Wade Stadium and am ready for some ACC football.

A few things I’ll be watching:

1. How does Georgia Tech try to defend Duke quarterback Sean Renfree and the Killer V’s – wide receivers Donovan Varner (Duke’s all-time leading receiver) and Conner Vernon. Blitzing and playing man coverage or more zone and wait for Duke to make a mistake.

2. What does A-back Tony Zenon do with his snaps helping fill in for Orwin Smith, out with an undisclosed injury?

3. What kind of energy and intensity does Tech play with after getting knocked out of the ACC race? Can the Jackets put the game away early?

That’s about it. I’ll be checking in. Enjoy the game.

Defense really needs to make the picks. We will need those next week. Got to catch bad passes when they are there.

As a Jackets fan, I had serious concerns coming into this game. I think they win but this is a “danger” game.

Here is my detailed take: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=ycn-10474621

I think we match up pretty well on the edge, I just worry about the TE for Ugag running the seam routes.

I almost wish this one wasn’t televised. Just run the ball and clock and get out. We have much bigger fish to fry.

My boy Sims is looking pretty good. Remember, he was not a running back until recently.

Looks like a typical GT-Duke game at Wallace Wade – last 3 times (05, 07, 09) GT came out flat and Duke took a lead. GT got rolling in each case and won easily. Going to be the same thing today.

If I’m wrong and I often am, this could be a huge confidence game for Tech. A 60 spot would be right on going into GA.

A great team puts the nail in now. Let’s see if the boys have what it takes. There is not one single player at Duke that expects to win now, unless we allow them. A pick 6 is in order, or TO on the KO.

Why does AG play so conservative? A zone blitz in a 3-4 is still only 4. We need to load up and make Renfree beat us.
