Georgia Tech-Duke live blog

DURHAM, N.C. – Hope this finds you well. I’ve finished the Cameron Indoor Stadium tour and have finished counting the dozens of fans at Wallace Wade Stadium and am ready for some ACC football.

A few things I’ll be watching:

1. How does Georgia Tech try to defend Duke quarterback Sean Renfree and the Killer V’s – wide receivers Donovan Varner (Duke’s all-time leading receiver) and Conner Vernon. Blitzing and playing man coverage or more zone and wait for Duke to make a mistake.

2. What does A-back Tony Zenon do with his snaps helping fill in for Orwin Smith, out with an undisclosed injury?

3. What kind of energy and intensity does Tech play with after getting knocked out of the ACC race? Can the Jackets put the game away early?

That’s about it. I’ll be checking in. Enjoy the game.

“I picked no fight, supersize. Just got weary of your garbage and called you it–again.”

Dawgnole at 9:32PM —

“I see that supersize is back big time–in all of his arrogance (and to his own trumpet fanfare). This after proclaiming, following another Tech loss a few weeks ago, that he was “done with Tech” and had “burned his diploma.” What a buffoon!”

Those were the FIRST WORDS YOU TYPED upon entering this blog tonight. That’s not “picking a fight”, huh? Boy, you’re even more stupid than I thought if that’s what you believe. I had never said a word to or about you before you typed that. Once again, you prove that you are a liar and a coward.

I would seem most unlikely that even DawgNote is still here after his ongoing rant of last night, but it still mystifies me as to how any individual can get so much pleasure cominng on another team’s blog and just attack, attack, attack. First, anyone who reads these blogs knows that there is/are (a) UGA fan(s) who seem to get their kicks using Super’s name. They have done it with me a few times. This is real cool — even though most cowardly. I know that Ken is not going to remove offensive comments, and that’s ok, but he should atleast make people stick to one handle, or let us know when they use multiple, and often other’s, names. I would like to go to a system like the letters to the editor in which you actually have to state your name before they will post it. I assure you, that would cut out most of the cowardly crap we see from folks such as Dawgnole. I’m sure I am asking for too much, but its worth a try.

Tech is very inconsistent. Look terrible against Miami, beat Clemson, almost get upset by Duke. You never know who is going to show up.

Give it a rest, supersize. My 1:38 a.m. post said no such thing. Guess you were so obsessed with cutting and pasting only the words you wanted from an earlier post that you got your times mixed up. That’s one of your problems–you come on these blogs slinging crap and then get all huffy and start hiding behind the old “imposter” excuse when someone calls you on your crap.

Looks like carolinajacket’s a little confused, too–unless he’s referencing another blogger (”DawgNote”?). If you were addressing me, carolinajacket, I can tell you that I get no pleasure whatsoever out of “cominng on another team’s blog and just attack . . . .” (”cominng”?) I simply tire of smug jerks like supersize posting BS as facts and expecting the readers here to believe him just because he said it. His handle and the inevitable insults he responds with when someone confronts him speak volumes about his character, I’m afraid.

I do, however, completely agree with your suggestion, carolinajacket, that readers be required to post under only one handle–or state his/her name. That would rid us of the “imposter” excuse that so often pops up when someone is called out for an idiotic remark. As it is now, there’s no sure way for the reader to know whether or not a poster is in reality an “imposter.”

DawgNole, I’m sorry; you are correct in saying that your 1:38 post did not say that, but your 1:19 post DID say exactly that—that you did not come to pick a fight. And yet the very first thing you posted was an insult. You don’t think that is picking a fight? If you really believe that, then, like I said, you really are stupid. And since when is standing up for what is correct an “excuse”? If I had actually posted what you referred to, then anything I might have posted to counter what I originally said would be an excuse. But I did NOT say what you accused me of saying, and the fact that I could not have posted it was confirmed by big bee, who knew where I was at the time the post was made. That confirmation should have been enough for any clear-thinking person to agree that it was an imposter and to drop all further reference to said posting. I have never met big bee, and he owes me no kind of favors; he was merely confirming that he knew I had been at the game and was, at the time of the fake post, driving back to Augusta. There are several regulars on here whom I saw at the game and could also confirm what big bee said. Therefore, I was not making an excuse; I was stating a fact. And I am still waiting for you to corroborate your probably also incorrect claim that I posted some kind of BS (your words) about Duke. Until you do so, and cease calling me an idiot because I am stating facts that you, in spite of obvious evidence to the contrary, still call an “excuse,” then you only confirm that you wanted, and apparently still want, to pick a fight.

Still don’t want to give it a rest, supersize? OK.

You’re STILL rambling–and STILL making little sense. My initial post last night was not in response to any post you made on THIS (Tech-Duke) blog. I made that clear at 10:20 p.m., when I wrote, “I know nothing about your 8:52 post–nor do I care.” So whereever you happened to be driving last night when the post you say was fake appeared (presumably the 8:52 post) is IRRELEVANT. My first contact with “Supersize that order, mutt” was a couple of months ago, when you/he stated as fact some incorrect information about Duke’s football history. An unpleasant exchange ensued, and that was the end of it. I then noticed following Tech’s Miami loss that “Supersize that order, mutt” said he was through with the Jackets and was burning his diploma. I wrote nothing in response until last night, when I noticed you pontificating yet again–after saying you were done with Tech. And now you say it was an imposter who wrote that, which is what I figured you would say. How the hell would I know it was an imposter? You have a unique (albeit condescending) handle, and that’s what I responded to.

All the more reason to implement carolinajacket’s suggestion about restricting each poster to only ONE handle. You indicated that you’ve spoken with Ken before; why not ask him about it? Probably not practical/possible, but as carolinajacket said, it might be worth a try.

Good luck next Saturday at noon. Should be a good one. May the BEST team win.

DawgNole, if you read the Tech blogs at all, you would know that I would never say anything as stupid as that. And what did I say about Duke history that was incorrect? I don’t remember posting anything at all about Duke, but if I did, then please tell me what it was that I said that you thought enough of to remember. If you remember that I posted something at all, then surely you remember what it was. I think the first time you and I exchanged posts was more like a couple of weeks ago, not a couple of months, but I could be wrong on that. If I posted incorrect facts, then I am man enough to admit my error; if I posted an opinion, then my opinions are every bit as valid as yours are. At any rate, PLEASE tell me what I said that irked you so much, and then let’s end it.

Looks like we’re about the only ones left on here. How am I supposed to get the last word in when you keep responding?

It was way more than a couple of weeks ago that we “talked.” With time, the magnitude of it has faded. Never was a big deal; I simply didn’t like your handle and what I perceived as smug, derogatory comments about UGA. When you slipped up on some Duke football history, I called you on it–probably too harshly–and you took exception to my tone. That led to a couple of hours of acrimonious posts between us. Ole yeller and one or two of your other buddies jumped to your defense, and off we went. To your credit, you acknowledged that you’d made the mistake on Duke, which in and of itself was nothing earth shattering at all. I simply used it–an error in fact–as an opportunity to question your integrity because I didn’t care for your attitude on the blog. That’s the last time I posted on a Tech blog until last night. I do read the UGA and Falcons blogs–and, occasionally, the Tech blogs. But I seldom post on any of them.

As I’ve indicated before, I’m a big Paul Johnson fan–if only because he’s been able to accomplish so much with basically a one-dimensional offense. If Tech ever develops a decent passing attack, look out. I just don’t know that they can do that with Johnson running the show. He’s going to have to recruit the “right” athletes to get it done. I’ve always pulled for Tech–probably even more so since Johnson arrived–EXCEPT when they play UGA or FSU. Auburn and florida, on the other hand, I absolutely detest. As I’m sure you’re aware, NOBODY hates florida more than UGA and FSU fans.

OK, I suggest now that we put this one behind us and write it off as a little bit of misunderstanding and intolerance on both sides. I’m looking forward to the upcoming rival weekend–and hoping them Jackets don’t gash us for 400 rushing yards Saturday.

DawgNole, I only check this blog every couple of hours just to see if you’ve posted anything else. THANK YOU for your last post. You moved beyond the acrimonious tone I perceived earlier, and I will do the same now. I don’t remember what was said about Duke, but you said I made an error and admitted it; I generally do take responsibility for my mistakes, but when the person who recognizes them calls me a liar instead of somebody who posted something in error, I get pissed. headley lamar has done that MANY times, so my reaction to you over the past 24 hours has been similar to my reaction to him. If I misconstrued your tone, then I apologize…..SINCERELY.

As far as CPJ and his offense, he DOES pass (or at least did at GSU) when he has a QB who can really mix it up good. Nesbitt could not, and TW doesn’t appear to be able to either, all though both had (or have had in TW’s case) some very productive passing plays. Vad Lee is supposed to be the answer to that, but I have no idea how he will actually perform once he gets the chance, or even if he can successfully run the TO. Time will tell, but I don’t think CPJ is so one-dimensional as not to even be looking for that special QB who can add that new dimension.

You are hoping we don’t gash you for 400 rushing yards, and I am hoping you don’t gash us for 400 total yards, so I guess we are even. LOL

Now let’s move on and agree to disagree on some points and find some areas of agreement on other points. Have a good Thanksgiving.

And a stress-free Thanksgiving week to you and your family, Supersize–except between the hours of noon and about 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Now, just to clarify, I didn’t start off calling you a liar two months ago; I just wasn’t very polite about pointing out your error because I took your comments in general to be condescending toward UGA. By the way, your mistake was a reference to Duke not having had a decent year since 19XX. I just happened to notice it because I remembered them starting a season (since then) 7-0 and being ranked #14 before heading to Tallahassee for a 59-21 bubble burster at the hands of the Noles. They went to a bowl game that year and finished 8-4. I researched it at the time and gave you the exact year. I just wasn’t very diplomatic about it. Hey, it’s all water under the bridge now–and during this season of thanks, I’m thankful for that.

As far as CPJ’s offense, I think the feeling generally is that if the Jackets fall more than a touchdown behind, they have a difficult time catching up. Y’all just have to develop a more effective (and feared) passing game. I’ll be watching with interest when Vad Lee finally gets his chance–in 2012, presumably.

Don’t be too mean to us Saturday now.

And you don't call that psychotic???

OOPS, I posted that under a name which I temporarily used on another blog today to counter something some jerk posted. Using another name is something I rarely do, especially since I dislike so much those who use my (and other bloggers’) name. Sorry about that.
