Georgia Tech’s Attaochu suspended half-game

Georgia Tech outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu will sit out the first half of the Yellow Jackets’ game against Duke on Saturday as punishment for throwing a punch at Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas last Thursday.

Tech coach Paul Johnson made the decision after reviewing the game video. He said he decided on a half-game suspension as that would have been the punishment had he been thrown out of the game and because the strike was out of character for Attaochu. Johnson said he gave Attaochu additional disciplinary measures that are between him and Attaochu.

“It’s out of character for him,” Johnson said. “Certainly, that’s not his M.O., and that’s why it’s not more. But I think that certainly, we don’t condone that and I know he’s learned his lesson, but there still needs to be something. You have to pay a price when you mess up.”

Johnson said Attaochu, whose strike of Thomas drew a personal foul penalty and was a momentum-changing play in the Hokies’ 37-26 victory that dropped the Jackets out of ACC title contention, was embarrassed and sorry for his action.

Actually Grinch, I started coming on here because it appeared, at one time, to be less trolls. Then started talking with some of the cooler GT fans like Supersize and such. I have no obsession with GT, but as I have mentioned, there is a little soft spot in my heart for them since I was born in Atlanta. I honestly just like to talk football. Then maggots like the Law School Grad Genius (guy probably couldn’t make it any school’s law school) come on here and out goes the football conversation.

Way to impersonate again there genius. Like no one can see that one. By the way, its RICHT not RICH, but why don’t you worry about your own teams bowl record. Such a shining example of post season play.

I think a recap is needed. So a law firm in Atlanta employs a sociopath who thinks rape is funny.

http://www.bothwelllaw.com/attorneys.htm

(as evidenced by some of his postings here and here….but there are many more if you browse his blog therealjmar.tumblr.com/post/1163076913/is-rape-ever-funny
therealjmar.tumblr.com/post/1518263699/non-lawyers-love-to-complain-about-lawyers-being)

Whew. Good to know. I will never hire that law firm to do any work for my company.

@The Truth, make yourself useful and post this diatribe in an email tooooo, I don’t know, say, THE LAW FIRM WHO HIRED HIM! You want something done about it, start there. Rambling like a freaking 10 year old on here does no good because it makes you laughable. Letting the firm in on what kind of garbage works there might actually make a difference, more so than your rants on here.

I agree. Supersize is very passionate about Tech and can come up with some doozies, but when I’ve engaged him directly we’ve had some good dialogue. I believe he’s in his 70’s and lives between Atlanta and Augusta.

I also like a poster called macrotech and RAMBLE ON!. Again, both can be real homers (can’t we all) but they add to the discussion.

No joke the Truth. He talks about how he would like to hire hookers and how stupid his clients are too, though……and that is being relatively nice. If I ever need that kind of service I know a firm I’m NOT calling. What’s wrong with being Mormon anyways?

Jackets heading for Trainwreck Bowl as they prepare to get lit up by Duke then blownout by the world beaters.Defense wins ,and CPJ will never have a decent one.All he cares about is his pathetic excuse of an offense that can score only against weak teams. The sooner Tech fires him the better.

Really sounds like Law Genius, who doesn’t know the law, is more and more a teenager all the time. He is more obsessed with UGA than anyone I have ever seen. Funny, most on here never even bring UGA up unless a wittle guy like this pops up.

None of this matters in the greater scheme of things. This is what we should be focusing on:

This is the savior of the program? This is the guy to get you to the next level? Seriously?

Between 1960 and 2007 we had 10 eight win or better seasons. That means we would have an eight win season roughly 21% of the time.

Assuming we beat Duke, CPJ has had 3 eight win seasons in four years (75%). He is doing it this year with one of the youngest teams in the country and an obvious lack of talent. It’s not very hard to see that he has made us more competitive then we used to be.

I was on the field but not in a position to see what actually happened to cause the personal foul penalty. It was a costly penalty and Attaochu took responsibility for it apologizing to Thomas and to his team. What I did see was Thomas flushed out of the pocket with no one to throw to on third and long and being stood up by two Ga.Tech defenders well behind the line of scrimmage. Then, we all waited for the whistle that seemed to never come and Thomas kept trying to move toward the sidelines and forward — do you expect the defenders to just let go of him and let him run when they think he’s stopped but there is no whistle though they think his forward progress has been stopped? Thomas was in the grasp of two Ga. Tech defenders for more than three seconds . . . the answer is exactly like Attaochu said in the press conference after the game – he waited for the whistle, didn’t hear one, and then he started doing as he is taught to do when a ball carrier is held up and there is no whistle – whack at the ball. He said he was sorry for being over aggressive, but they still didn’t blow the whistle until Thomas turned and Attaochu’s next swing at the ball hit Thomas in the back of the head. He said he knew he was at fault and it was not intentional — the refs saw it the same way and did not call it a “flagrant personal foul” – as would have been done had he actually swung for the quarterback’s head (Georgia defenders should know all about that – look at the Arkansas game last year on their own sidelines and Richt did nothing to the guy.). Oh, if you wanna talk coach imposed penalties Doggies, how about the random drug test of your running backs on Thursday before the Florida game? How long does it take to get the results of a drug test? But, they did get suspended for the New Mexico State game – convenient, yes! And, your outside linebacker doing 92 in a 55 DUI with an underage drunk girl in the car with him at 2 a.m. on a Sunday – suspended for two losing SEC teams — the rest of us would be in jail! As for Coach Paul Johnson going for it on fourth and one – I agree with him and he said the offense needed to keep the ball to keep the Virginia Tech offense off the field because they could not stop them. He said the right play was called but the execution was not there. He said it was his call, he made it, and he sticks by it . . . and I agree with him — there’s no question he knows more about football and offense than most coaches – you don’t like him because he scares you!

where’s the suspensions for the Tobacco Road good ole boys ACC referees in the games againt Clemson as well as VT?

Why did GT choose Jeremiah to talk to the press after the VT game? He was very apologetic and gracious but why put the kid in that position? Stupid on GT’s media relations department. CPJ should not allow his media people to send the players into the press rooms when they lose to be asked moronic questions.

Also, Groh should be the one suspended for bad coaching not the kid.

Attaochu was part of the press conference because several members of the UGA Journalism School media members (who are normally covering Georgia – but since it was a Thursday night game and UGA was not playing – they wanted to come to Ga. Tech to write crap about the game and the team) asked for him specifically so they could ask him embarrassing questions and put him on the spot. And, if you don’t give “the sports media” what and who they want, they report you as hiding something. Ga. Tech and Attaochu have nothing to hide. Why so much reported about Attaochu and Coach Paul Johnson, what happened and how their actions cost Ga. Tech at shot at the ACC Title and so very little about the illegal goings-on in and around Athens — because The Dawgs are winning (for a change) against lesser opponents and have a shot at the SEC Title – against No. 1 LSU – the truth hurts!
