Georgia Tech’s Attaochu suspended half-game
Georgia Tech outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu will sit out the first half of the Yellow Jackets’ game against Duke on Saturday as punishment for throwing a punch at Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas last Thursday.
Tech coach Paul Johnson made the decision after reviewing the game video. He said he decided on a half-game suspension as that would have been the punishment had he been thrown out of the game and because the strike was out of character for Attaochu. Johnson said he gave Attaochu additional disciplinary measures that are between him and Attaochu.
“It’s out of character for him,” Johnson said. “Certainly, that’s not his M.O., and that’s why it’s not more. But I think that certainly, we don’t condone that and I know he’s learned his lesson, but there still needs to be something. You have to pay a price when you mess up.”
Johnson said Attaochu, whose strike of Thomas drew a personal foul penalty and was a momentum-changing play in the Hokies’ 37-26 victory that dropped the Jackets out of ACC title contention, was embarrassed and sorry for his action.

Its funny that the techies use the “better in the classroom” excuse all of the time. Hey, if you can’t beat them then might as well we can beat you in the classroom, or so the argument came in another blog from a tech poster who stated they weren’t a football school. I don’t think it would be so bad but it’s right next to pictures of UGA VIII and posts on how he hopes UGA wins on the weekend. Lawyers, Doctors, and other professionals are held to a higher standard than most people and rape jokes don’t cut it. Sorry.

Classless and tasteless comments on the internet are not criminal. It’s one of those evils that the internet affords for people of that taste. The guys I mentioned for GT were criminals, brought to justice, sure, but they were still criminals. And athletes there no less.

The SEC suspended the Georgia players as per the guidelines in place. Coach Richt suspended Ben Jones in 2010 for a shot on a Miss St player which hadn’t been flagged.
Fish Fry could have asked the officials why the personal foul and them removed the young man from the game. He should have pulled him, as others programs do. Made it appear he ignored the flagrant foul. Hard to believe he would do that harder to believe he would not have questioned the officiating crew.

LOL, Here is the thing. GT has a FINE list of graduates who have become great additions to this country (Jimmy Carter not withstanding), but as I stated, EVERY school has their boneheads that embarrass the institution. It’s just a fact.
As you know from my UGA blog posts, I have never believed in the triple option as a viable offense in DI play. Defenses in the upper tier teams are too complex, too advanced and too fast for it to work on a consistent basis. Does it gain yards? Heck yeah it does. Does it win games? Some. But championship caliber games. No.

Question to you Paul Johnson fans. Do you still think he’s the man to take you to the next level? Let’s look at his record:
2008: 9-3 record, 5-3 in the A She She, Chick fil a bowl loss
2009: 11–3 record, 7-1 in the A She She, Orange bowl loss
2010: 6–7 record, 4–4 in the A She She, Independence bowl loss
2011: presently 7–3 overall, 4–3 in the A She She, unknown bowl game at this time
He was very successful his first two years with Gailey players who were NFL material, but in the past two years he is 13-10 with 2 regular season games remaining and a bowl game. If you beat Duke but lose to UGA and in the bowl game, his two-year aggregate record will be 14-12.
