Georgia Tech quoteboard

TEVIN WASHINGTON

On his two long runs:

Both of them came off draw plays. The line did a good job. I can’t even give enough credit to the offensive line. The offensive line did a great job opening up the holes. I just ran through it and tried to do my best.

On persevering:

With adversity you’ve got to either stand up or lay down. I think we’ve got the type of team that stands up and comes back and just fight no matter what the situation may be.

How he felt after Jemea Thomas‘ interception in the end zone in the fourth quarter:

I was the happiest man out there on the field.

JEMEA THOMAS

On the interception in the end zone:

We watched film all week watching film on it. As soon as they get in the red zone, their No. 2 (Sammy Watkins) on the backside, they’re going to throw the fade, so I was kind of waiting on it.

PRESTON LYONS

On rotating with and sharing information with David Sims:

David and I, we do a lot of that. When one guy’s in, he tells the other guy on the sidlines what’s going on . It really helps. We can feed off each other and just kind of learn. If I’m on the sidelines, I’ll see him do something and give him pointers and he does the same for me and I think that really helps.

On the crowd storming the field:

It’s an electrifying experience. I remember two years ago my sophomore year the Virgina Tech game that happened and I got stuck out on the field for like 45 minutes. Right when I saw them storm today, I got out of there real quick but I was able to see them storm the field. It’s a fantastic feeling.

LOUIS YOUNG

On defensive coordinator Al Groh calling blitzes for him:

That’s the way we practiced all week. We said, ‘We’re going to bring the house on him, put pressure disrupt him,’ so I guess he just unleashed me. I was ready to go in there and put some pressure on the quarterback.

On a main point in the defensive game plan:

Just situational awareness, knowing where they like to take a shot with he deep ball. For the most part, I think we were pretty on point with knowing when they were getting ready to take a shot deep. we were in great position to make great plays on the ball.

ORWIN SMITH

On difference between last two weeks and this week:

There hasn’t really been a big difference. I’d say the one difference is execution we play with effort every week that was’t a problem. Coach (Johnson)  was more worried about us executing than not playing well.

T.J. BARNES

On his play:

I just really wanted to step up and just help the team any way I  could. The past couple weeks, I wasn’t really producing, so I was just trying to do all I could this week to really help out.

TAJH BOYD

The key to the game was our turnovers. We turned the ball over four times. When you do that, it’s hard to win games. We have to execute better. You have to give Georgia Tech a lot of credit. They really executed well tonight. We didn’t make the big plays and they did.

DABO SWINNEY

We just made too many costly errors tonight. We turned it over four times, had costly penalties, and allowed too many big plays. It’s not complicated, they out executed us in all phases.

CLEMSON OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR CHAD MORRIS

We made some uncharacteristic plays. I think in the second half everyone was pressing. (To the Charleston Post and Courier)

George, check Shultz’s blog, They are claiming that Clemson was overrated. They never concede the fact that Tech might be good.

Good comments here. But, as usual, I am spooked at Hallowe’en about what lurks in the dark future. When True Tech meets Virginia Polytechnic will our brains be so full of what we did to Clemson that our overconfidence will beat us? Or will we have had so long a rest that we will have lost rhythm and will have forgotten what it takes to win?

Golden Tornado….if you watched all of the game on TV you saw CPJ in the middle of the team jacking them up on the sidelines before kickoff & CAG with his defensive unit surrounding him coaching them up shortly after 2nd half started & Clemson scored too easily & Roddy Jones with the offensive unit surrounding him on the sideline jacking them up. That was sooooooo good to witness this. I think that answers your question. I know it makes me even more optimistic for the future games. The team was so pumped last night!

Golden T……………..please keep that crap to yourself. Be more positive about Tech’s chances with VPI and enjoy the next week and a half.

super,

I have always been a believer, just not a homer…. lol… I have always said we would be scary good if our Defense decides to join the game.. They did Saturday, and look what happened, we finally beat a good team… I still don’t like the offense…. lol

gt4ever, that’s what I don’t understand. How can you not like the offense? When they are clicking like they were last night, it is a thing of beauty.
