After dropping out of both polls following its loss to Miami last Saturday, Georgia Tech re-appeared Sunday. Following their upset of No. 5 Clemson Saturday night, the Yellow Jackets were ranked No. 22 in the Associated Press writers poll and No. 23 in the USA Today coaches poll.
By dropping their first game of the season, the Tigers fell from No. 6 to No. 11 in the AP poll and from No. 6 to No. 12 in the coaches poll. Virginia Tech, which Tech will play next in two Thursdays at Bobby Dodd Stadium is No. 12 in the writers poll and No. 11 in the coaches poll.

Anon,
BTW CPJ is actually intimidated by Georgia and you can see it in his eyes. He lost to the worst two UGA teams in 20 years and will probably end up losing again this year, bringing Tech to 1-10 since Richt arrived at UGA.

Every team has their schedule to play. UGA has it’s cupcakes too, and early talk was this year was their easiest so the would win them all. You still have to play all your games. Most complaints were because they had to play Boise early in the season. Well that’s the way the football bounces.

UGA’s wins have come against teams with a combined record of 21-27, inclusive of their typically weak SEC non-conference schedules.
To UGA’s credit, they have bruising games coming up against New Mexico St (and we all know how they do against WAC teams), Auburn (who couldn’t seem to beat Clemson), and Kentucky (that can’t score on Paris Hilton).
And they have the stones to talk about our schedule?

Anon,
True. True. Just don’t compare the ACC to even half of what the SEC is. The past 6 National Championships is proof of that. Clemson should have NEVER been ranked as high as 5th and Tech showed it last night.

I don’t dislike UGA, sister from there. If you read any of my other posts, I want both to be 9-2 when they meet. I doubt that CPJ is intimidated by anyone on a football field. Richt is 2-1 against CPJ. If he loses this year will you want him fired??

National Championships are only proof that most of the SEC sucks. If it was that tough, no one would get through it undefeated every year.

TBTS, don’t take credit for other teams NC’s. UGA had nothing to do with them unless you want to count their losing to the eventual NC last year.

So when Tech beats Clemson, it’s because they were ranked too high, but UGA loses to Boise State and it was what?? All the talk before the game was that Boise couldn’t keep up with UGA speed.

TooBad…………………you are just stupid.
Vandy would beat TECH? and what are you basing that on?
Could it be tech’s 11-1-1 record against VANDY. Been since WWII that Vandy beat TECH.

UGAly has played a total of 2 teams that have winning records..and lost to both! They have 2 more to go(Aub and Tech) and will lose those too. Wonder how Richt feels when the Lord lets him down against every good team they play!

SooSad…………..when LSU or Bama win a MNC this year that makes the SEC good? LMAO……..Arkansas is OVERRATED…………A SEC team wins a MNC and that makes UGA somehow good and you don’t even play the Best in the SEC.

5150, they may get a chance to play Alabama or LSU if they can get by Auburn and Kentucky. It won’t be a pretty game for UGA. You just hope they won’t get hurt.

My main problem with UGA is that they graduate teachers that teach just about all of our children. How is that working out for us? Of course, they also graduate the great majority of the journalism majors that write the stuff we have to read. I agree that UGA has a great football program but I trust our guys will be up to the task to whip their butts in Atlanta this year!

We slipped up there for a couple weeks but now withthe big win we can still get to the CG…one wk at a time VT limps in next withmultiple D starters out. If we take care of our business including Duke (no easy win) then let’s see if UVA can earn their way. I will tip the hat to them if they do, after all they beat us head to head. But right now, the end of this season is shaping up to be very exciting. Thanks CPJ and an exciting bunch of young Jackets!

UGA has rarely beat both Florida and Auburn in the same year. If they lose to Florida, they beat Auburn, if the lose to Florida, they beat Auburn. It is more common for UGA to lose to both Florida and Auburn in the same year, but in the SEC, anything is possible.

What is the combined record of the teams Tech beat when they were 6 and 0? You can only beat the teams that you’re scheduled to play.Unlike Tech GA. has beaten the teams that they were supposed too beat.I hope Tech runs the table and moves up in the polls. The North Avenue beatdown you get from Georgia will be much sweeter.

9-2 for both teams would be fine with me for the game after Thanksgiving. Don’t know why you go back to when Tech was 6-0? Why not right now? I know NC had a winning record. Don’t really care, since you can only play the teams on your schedule. I do know both NC and Clemson were ranked when we beat them, and we were ranked when Va and Miami beat us. That’s the was football goes. Who was ranked when UGA won?

Tech would be ahead of only Kentucky and Tennessee if in SEC east. End of November jackets will still only have 15 wins over Georgia since 1957. Clemson way over ranked. Looks like the ACC will finish another season without a team in the final top 10.

Oh well, it’s been fun. Don’t really care about the polls since it is only for determining NC. Does anyone remember who was number 8 last year? Or #6? It seems to be a point of pride for UGA when they are in them, but tear down others when they aren’t. Go figure.

Not a Georgia resident here. That said the game is still very important to me. But right now we got bigger fish to fry. You guys can talk all the trash you want but the next few weeks are about staying alive in the conference race. If dawg fans had any class they would take that same approach and stay on their own blog.
